http://www.iamagm.com/news/2012/06/24/heat.free.agency.targets.offseason.andre.miller.gr ant.hill.chris.kaman.steve.nash

Let's be real. The Miami Heat will be targeting every prominent free agent this offseason using their mid-level exception. The team is hamstrung by the salary cap, and will utilize the MLE in discussions with player on the marketing. Getting any of the players mentioned in this report will be difficult.

Steve Nash, Chris Kaman, Grant Hill, Andre Miller, Ray Allen and Jermaine O’Neal are among the players who Miami could target with their mini mid-level exception, according to sources close to the situation. Those players can likely make more money elsewhere, but may be willing to take less to join the HEAT. Another option for Miami is Brandon Roy, who will attempt to make an NBA comeback next season after retiring last December.

obviously, you are not getting chris kaman for the mini mle of 2.5 million, so we can throw that out the window (insert stupid "discounted response")

with that said, center is their biggest need, beyond that, nash's ability to create plays, hit freethrows and shoot from deep would be a huge addition, but i doubt he takes the MLE

andre miller is nice, but he cant stretch the floor so i dont see the point of him playing there

brandon roy, i doubt hes interested in miami

idk why they want jermaine o'neal, unless they are looking to replace juwan howard's dead weight

They need a C. Can't expect Bosh to last at C the whole year.

He said he was contemplating retirement. Don't really have to amnesty.

They need a defensive rebounding center. Getting Nash would do very little for them, I think Chalmers fits what they need at pg better. Not sure who the other options at center would be other then Kaman. Asik would probably look or get more money, the Suns may look at getting rid of Gortat if Nash goes elsewhere (don't know what they would have to offer though).

If Miami gets Kaman it's over for the NBA,no way you can beat this lineup.

Chalmers
Wade
Lebron
Bosh
Kaman

They have no weakness.

If Mike Miller retires(injury) we'll have one year $2.9M injured player exception.

source looks bogus, just stating the obvious and they dont even know what the mini mle is.

anyways.

i want allen, hill
nash would be nice too

nash/rio
wade/allen
hill/battier
bron/ud
bosh/dr. ruth

obviously not happening but any of those players would make me happy

I expect one of Kaman, O'neal, Hawes, or Asik to go there.

Would love Kaman. But he doesn't seem like the Miami type of guy. Dude is really weird.

Would like a Center badly though, but deons't have to be too overblown, the center position is a diminishing one.

Apparently Dalembert might be waived, so maybe

He's a douche, but I'd welcome him

Crawford, miller, Kaman

Discounted!!!

If the HEAT can get two of them, that would be unbelievable.

maybe miller retires do to injury, maybe james jones too.

Marcus Camby imo. He'd fight perfectly with the Heat. Plays tough D, 7 footer to contest layups, spread the floor with the midrange, and most importantly rebound.

I expect one of Kaman, O'neal, Hawes, or Asik to go there.

O'Neal's the only one out of that list.

Yall don't need hill. Battier is good enough, and is probably better from deep than hill

No one is going to sign with the heat when they can get more money elsewhere. The only guys that would are Juwan Howard type journeymen who suck.

Give me the best rebounding, & defensive big man out there. Preferably one with a good 16/18 foot jumper. It doesn't even need to be a C, it could be a PF, as long as he is over 6-9.

Why in the world would we sign and trade them Asik?

Heat wishlist is revealed? Who the **** in Alex Kennedy? He's just stating the obvious choices. He doesn't know better than us. Only person at this point would know the true targets in order is Pat Riley. I doubt he has a second to **** on Alex Kennedy...

Oh my god they took the max Miami could give which in the long run wasn't much less. Nash could get ten mill so he'd be taking less the 50percent. They took a 10 percent cut max.

Nash still seems unlikely for me... He's gonna get offered 6-8 a year and there are few teams with the cap space unless the Suns and Heat do a sign and trade for picks and Chalmers... Heat are just cash strapped...
