View Full Version : Report: Dwight Howard wants to be traded before NBA Draft

Fresno
06-20-2012, 11:41 PM
Hennigan will immediately be confronted with making a decision on All-Star center Dwight Howard’s future. Howard is signed through the 2012-13 season, but another fallout with management has left him wanting a trade soon. Howard will push for a trade to the Brooklyn Nets before the June 28 NBA draft to clear the way for Nets free agent Deron Williams to re-sign with the Nets and partner in the new Brooklyn arena next season.

Well, at least he's not on the fence anymore.

Im pretty sure he's watching the NBA Finals and realizing his best chance at winning a ring is teaming up with Deron in Brooklyn.

If the Magic only have the Nets to deal with, then they're going to receive the **** end of the deal no matter who the nets offer for Howard. They need a third team to get involved and they need to make sure first if Deron is going to stay.

Lol Dwights Going to be the next Lebron

Dwight in my opinion is much worse. LeBron didn't demand a coach get fired, sign an option, and then demand a trade.

LeBron played out his contract, told his team he would test free agency, Cleveland failed to surround LeBron with decent players, so he left.

Demanding a trade and basically telling the league that he will be a free agent next year lowers what he is worth.

If D-Will leaves to the Lakers or Mavericks this would be so hilarious.. Reminds me of the clippers situation when B. Davis signed to play alongside Brand and Brand booked it for the 76ers. But unless a 3rd team gets involved a deal between the 2 teams would never happen, the biggest asset was traded to Portland for a Gerald Wallace rental. But like everyone else I want the Howard situation dealt it, its getting old and annoying.

I understand what his problem is, He isn't being a diva, and it has frustrated me several times in the past few months because my team has been one of the rumored front-runners to land him, several occasions of hoping Dwight would be in LA wears and tears after awhile, but I kind of feel bad for the guy.

He wants out because he sees what everyone else is doing, he realizes his chance for a ring is slim in the situation he is in, but he doesn't want to be the "bad" guy in doing it, he has shattered his reputation in a completely different way. It's like he is listening to two personalities and doesn't know what the **** to do lol. He still has come out looking like the bad guy in the end though, which is respectable considering all he has done to Orlando, It's a doesn't want to be cherished, scared to be hated type deal.

Obviously he started all of this because he didn't want Orlando to let him go for nothing after becoming a free agent, so he wants them to get what he is worth, but then he doesn't want the other team trading too much, hell of a situation.

I am seriously growing tired of these divas

LBJ - never liked but made it worse with his whole look at me "the decision" thing
Bosh - shadowed LBJ
Carmelo- Knicks or nothing
Howard - I loved the guy before all of this (sure I want him on the NETS) but enough is enough
Dwill - I will sign, I won't sign, I will, I won't, I will, I won't

I dont get it...I think Orlando as they are now is a better team then dwight and Deron in Brooklyn. I think their is more to him wanting to go there because if he really wanted to win he would go to LA where he can team up with Kobe and Pau, resign sessions and small tweak to the bench and you have to think Lakers become the favorites for at least the next few years. Plus it's a big market team to take on a superstar of his stature and when Kobe does retire he is then the franchise player and they will have enough cap space to reload quickly and surround him with talent.

Howard

1) they aren't gonna want a ton of bench players

2) any trade would probably involve a sign-and-trade with Batum while taking Turkoglu

3) my proposal would be picks #6 & #11, Crawford, Batum, (any one of Babbitt, E. Williams, or N. Smith). If we need to up the ante throw in a future 1st or Mathews...

We'd have enough money to sign Deron Williams after that, we'd have a lineup
of:

PG: Deron Williams
SG: Wesley Mathews
SF: Hedo Turkoglu
PF: LaMarcus Aldridge
C: Dwight Howard

I know, I know, it'll never happen but still...

So the current story is that Dwight really wanted to go to the Nets all along (which is what I think). For some stupid reason he opted in and how neither him nor the Nets have any leverage. Sure, he can do the same thing he did last season and say he'll opt out at the end of the year, but this time around, the Magic are going to take the best offer.

It's insane how this thing has run out and it's not even over yet.

The only way the Nets have a chance to snag him is either

a) other teams refuse to trade for him without an extension (again)
b) no one has as good an offer as the Nets somehow
c) the Nets do everything below and it' somehow the best offer:

- sign and trade G Wallace (who will probably be overpaid) and send him to Orlando, or include him in a 3 team trade for someone else
- sign and trade Lopez (who is probably going to be overpaid as well)
- trade Marshon Brooks
- trade draft picks (I just don't know which ones and when)
- Take back Turkoglu's contract
- probably include cash as well

I think it's the media who is making this guy look bad,we have a different Dwight story every week about him wanting out of Orlando or him staying with Orlando. If you don't like Dwight then don't read the rumors.

Now that Lebron (assuming a monumental collapse) will EARN his first title, he is no longer my #1 hated player. Enter in kuncklehead Howard. Just figure out what the hell you want and shut up.

Dwight can do whatever and say whatever the **** he wants. He has no control over whether he goes to the Nets or not. And I highly doubt he said this.

Completely untrue. He wants to be traded instead of leaving in free agency because if he's a free agent he doesn't get a 5th year with 7.5% raises, he gets 4 years with 4.5% raises. He wants the best of both worlds, going to the market he wants AND getting the loyalty bonus in the his contract from Bird rights. In short, he's a douche.

Williams
Brooks
Wallace
Humphries
Howard

not likely. Humphries will leave in FA, and Brooks and possibly Wallace (S&T) would be included in a trade for Howard.

How does it remind you of what happened with Brand and Baron when nothing even happened with the Nets...Dwight wasnt traded to here and Deron never left.

I didn't say he was cool. Just that he isn't #1 hated player in my book.

I hated Lebron because of all of the "look at me" drama he created without backing it up on the big stage. Now that he has proven he can get it done when it matters, I just dislike him strongly now. I will never like the guy because of the decision, not 1, not 2, etc. I just tend to not care for attention whores. Talking the talk without walking the walk made it even tougher. He at least has my respect now for whatever that is worth. Still a class A tool though.

Brooklyn has the pieces needed to trade for Dwight? With the pieces he's stuck with in Olrando, I don't blame him for wanting to leave. The new GM needs to work some Magic very quickly, if there's any chance of keeping Dwight. Otis Smith shouldn't be allowed to GM for a high school team SMH.

again, people, dont believe everything you read.
Hennigan will immediately be confronted with making a decision on All-Star center Dwight Howard’s future. Howard is signed through the 2012-13 season, but another fallout with management has left him wanting a trade soon. Howard will push for a trade to the Brooklyn Nets before the June 28 NBA draft to clear the way for Nets free agent Deron Williams to re-sign with the Nets and partner in the new Brooklyn arena next season.

um... does anyone have a direct quote from Dwight or his agent? if not, then this means nothing. This is just more speculation by the media saying Dwight wants out. again, you children are naive enough to believe everything you read. nobody knows what Dwight wants, hell Dwight isnt even sure. These journalists make me sick, and are relentless on Dwight.

Both of their championship teams are incredibly better than the current Heat. People just see Wade & Bosh and overreact, once they lost to the Mavs we learned they're not as great as we thought, but still a superior team just not one of the greats, not yet at least.

But none of that matters because at the end of the day Lebron will still have his ring and he won it with this squad being HIS team and he can without a doubt in his voice that he was the best player in the series.

Is he the same player after his back surgery? I would think teams would want to see what he can do first before they trade away draft picks and quality players.

Well, at least he's not on the fence anymore.

Im pretty sure he's watching the NBA Finals and realizing his best chance at winning a ring is teaming up with Deron in Brooklyn.

This might work IF you MERGE Knicks & Nets into 1 team.
Keep dreaming. Last year Nets with Deron & Co were a high lottery team. Take out Lopez, Wallace & who knows what else. What do you get (even with cry baby DH) -Eighth seed in the East, or a lottery team again.

There's no reason for Orlando to trade with New Jersey. As far as Williams, chances are he could sign with Dallas who will either wait on Dwight with some cap or placate Dirk (and not have another half-assed season of waiting) and Howard will have to find some other place to sign.

Yeah, but the "Melo-drama" was for 1/2 a season and it was mostly the Nuggets. Melo had one team: the NY Knicks. Nuggets kept pushing and pushing until they got a good haul.

The "Dwight Drama" is more like its been Dwight AND Orlando. Dwight with his puppeteering of management (otis and stan out), saying who stays/goes, and always putting up many different places.

At least Melo said that he was ok with playing out his contract and that if traded, he'd only sign an extension only with the Knicks. But Dwight seems to publicly pushing for a trade....and the WORST part is that he could have been a free agent right now. ...so he's dragged it on for a whole season and now the offseason.

Brooklyn doesn't have anything to offer, I don't get it........

There best offer they may be able to put together would be packaging Lopez and Brooks plus future 1st round picks.. there's no way at least one other GM could not come up with something better than that...

I would much rather have Bynum + filler in return for Dwight if I'm the Magic GM.
And I'm sure there's others as well. Even Houston would sound more intriguing, especially with both of those 1st rounders they've upgraded with.

sigh.

I can't believe nobody can figure this out. Orlando is NOT trading Dwight Howard.

Their chief guy, at the very top, wants to keep Howard. He probably told his staff "keep him. Make it happen. No excuses." And then hasn't paid any attention to the situation since February.

Now they've fired their coach and GM, and I can assure you they are NOT going to trade Howard. If Howard wanted out, he shouldn't have signed an extension. End of story.

Howard will not be traded, not for a rental, not to New Jersey, not for Lopez or Bynum or whatever. Howard WILL NOT BE TRADED.

All the "action" at next year's tradeline will be bluffs to pressure Howard to stay in Orlando, and if Howard manages to stay strong and not extend in Orlando (doubtful, to say the least, I'm not sure he can even remember from day to day what he's decided or said publicly) then Dwight will leave as a free agent in summer 2013 in a sign and trade, unless he is unloaded at the 2013 tradeline last minute.

That's it. No more need to talk about this for the next 8 months.
