View Full Version : What team will best suit Rashard Lewis?

The Hornets, sources say, are planning to waive Lewis before July 1 to slice roughly $10 million off the $24 million that he is owed in 2012-13. With the resultant financial flexibility, New Orleans is confident in its ability to re-sign restricted free agent Eric Gordon this summer to ensure it doesn't lose the best player it received in exchange for face-of-the-franchise Chris Paul in December

With this news, who would be the best fit for him? I would expect a team to sign him to a very cheap deal seeing as he'll be paid heavily regardless for his buyout.

I know it's not going to be everyones favorite option but maybe NY. He can help spread the floor or allow them to use smaller lineups.

Where does everyone see him going?

not sure he has much to offer any of the good teams... does he?

anyone looking for an aging tweener with injury problems who has spent his career as a sharp shooter (yet hasn't topped 45% FG shooting for 5+ years)

Charlotte actually makes sense. He'd be a cheap 1 year deal. He'd do it to help revive his career and Charlotte just needs scoring. They don't have a bit man who can shoot like him.

whichever team he signs with will have fans loving the name, without knowing he has sucked for 3 years.

I think he'd be solid for the Lakers. They need a scoring SF. On a one year deal, he fits very well.

This if he is looking to revive his career. He will most likely sign on with a contender/playoff team and play limited minutes a la Gilbert Arenas with the Grizz last year imo

And for those who don't think he has anything to offer, people said the same about Arenas as well

Wouldn't mind him on the Spurs, I'm sure he can't be worse then Bonner. With that said, wouldn't be surprised to hear from his camp that he is interested in coming off the bench for the Heat.

I don't think he has much left in the tank... I like a team like the lakers for him... He can be a nice foil to bynum like he was to howard if the lakers choose to trade gasol

He only fits with a big like Dwight/Bynum so Lakers or whatever team lands Dwight.

I just looked up his stats and he shot 24% from 3. Wow.. that's arguably his best ability is his 3pt shooting combined with his height.

Who knows though maybe a winning scenery would help him but personally I think he's done

Everybody saying he's done needs to realize that while he was overpaid, Rashard Lewis is still a good player espescially when you're not dealing with that mega contract.

He was a far better player before he joined the Magic and became a 6'11 spot shooter to fit into their system, so I dont see why everyone is saying he needs to play next to a low post C to be successful.

Rashard Lewis is one of the most efficient mid-range shooters in the NBA actually, but that part of his game was discouraged by SVG who is on the record as saying that he doesn't like his players taking mid-range shots.

He sat out most of last season due to the Wizards wanting to try to trade his contract without playing him. All he had was a sprained knee & a bone bruise, not like he had a major injury to miss all of last season. It was a organizational decision to keep him away to try to trade him.

Rashard Lewis would be a great fit for the Clippers.

They really could use someone who can come off the bench at the 3 or 4 and provide some scoring & spacing on offense.

For the min he could replace J Howard at 3rd string PF.

I really hate when all of these non athletes say that guys are finished. their all professional NBA athletes who unless they have injuries medically disqualifying them from play they cab still contribute. lewis would still make a great 7th or 8th man.

Clippers, Lakers, Nets, Warriors,

The Memphis Grizzles!

-in order to spread the floor a team would need a Post Player, in comes Gasol & Randolph

- not NY Knicks bcuz they don't have a Post Player in Tyson Chandler(PnR only) & Stoudermire and they have to run Iso's for Melo. You can't spread the floor on Iso plays

The Lakers make the most sense because they need 3 point shooters but really who knows? I'm not convinced Lewis will really make any sort of impact on whatever team he signs with. Kind of like how Juwan Howard is now to the Miami Heat.

He's horrible. Maybe sign on with the Spurs or something for the minimum.
