this has been stated so many times... he IS injured... When Wade is hurt, it affects his entire game.

Thats just the way he is.

He's injured. He can't get any lift on his shots, and he's lost some of his athleticism.

When did people stop using their brain and analytical skills to notice when a player was injured and when they weren't?

I agree. The turnovers, the poor shot selection and use of the shot clock. His inability to score outside of 6 feet. He has been pretty damn bad.

Injuries, and all he does is complaint now...

ManRam

He might be hurt...IDK.

But it seems mental to me. He's not attacking 1/8th as much as he did in 2006...or last year even. Maybe it's because he physically can't, but that's the biggest reason.

And his jumper, which was never amazing, is so off right now. So factor the fact that he isn't driving to the rim as much with the fact that his shot is off and you get a much less dominant force.

He's not average though ;) He's still the 3rd/4th best player in this series (he has been better than Harden in this series and in the playoffs...maybe not Russy).

Think Kevin Garnett over the from 09-11 then think Kevin Garnett 2012... when Wade is fully healthy again (if ever) we'd be hearing a different tune.

Might be due to injuries, but I've noticed a lot of bad jump shots early in the shot clock from him in the last 2 series.

The guy is injured, period. He is still playing great with that injury but not great enough to his standards of one of the best on the planet. I am sure he's gonna have some Knee procedure in the offseason and will be back at full strength next season.

Yes he is injured and that's a valid excuse for not playing up to his expected level. He's battling it out and that's commendable.

What there is no excuse for is the fact that he didn't prepare for this. Guys like Jordan & Kobe were just like Wade when they were younger. Incredibly athletic. These guys proactively prepared themselves to age though. They improved their jumpers, worked on footwork, post moves, etc. D-Wade hasn't seemed to put enough emphasis on evolving his game to prepare for the decline in his athleticism. He's a warrior, but I am not sure he is going to age well...

I really don't think he just suddenly fell off. I think people forget how great he was when he was healthy in the regular season. He was arguably a top 3 player this regular season when he was playing...and I could make that argument without trying to hard.

I just don't buy that he suddenly isn't an elite elite player. He'll fall of sometime...but it would be so odd if he literally fell off at some point late in the regular season and before the playoffs that drastically. I just can't believe that's true.

We'll see next year I guess.

If he doesn't get knee surgery, then i would say thats a big problem. But i would be shocked if he doesnt get knee surgery, you dont get your knee drained if there isn;t something wrong. Also would be very surprised if he plays in the Olympics.

He has to be hurt, you literally can't decline that fast. I would guess the attack mentality is starting to show on his body from all the years of relentless attack. I think he is declining physically some as well, so when you add that into the injury, he is probably well below 100% currently.

I mean, is it a coincidence that after he gets his knee drained he looks more explosive for a week?

I agree.. I like Wade, I'm a heat fan, but D Wade has always had a very shotty shot selection but the turnovers, especially in the back court and during the 4 th quarter are just horrible. I do think he's hurt, I think he's a very good player, but he definitely has benefited from the Kobe syndrome, where if you get enough of them to go in, people forget how you shoot a horrible percentage and take horrible shots..

Injury, age.

RaiderLakersA's

I want to write it off as injury related. But I'm not going to completely ignore the possibility of wear and tear theory. Believe it or not, the damage that you incur actually helps age you that much faster. That's Wade in a nutshell. It was bound to happen. They've been playing a shortened season with back to back nights, etc.; a ridiculous pace. Seasons like this favor the young and spry, not oft-injured 30 year olds.

The good news is that he only has to make it through one last series. Wade may not fool anyone into believing that he's an iron man, but if he can find the will and the wherewithal to push through it, LeBron and Bosh might be enough to get it done. OKC is starting to have that "deer in headlights" look about them. Their recent plague of missed free throws is a sure sign that the pressure is getting to them.

Kashmir13579
06-18-2012, 10:44 PM
You know what the REAL problem is? In the playoffs, Wade set the bar ridiculously high for himself, year after year, after year. He's obviously injured. He's only playing bad relative to how much of a beast he's been previously this time of year. Anyone can get injured and have a crappy playoffs. With everything we've seen in this condensed season why would i write Wade off?

ManRam

his athleticism is definitely going down. he is getting older. but he is also injured right now.

with that being said though, i dont see him being as consistent anymore if he cannot stay completely healthy. and with the way he plays, that wont be often.

his jump shot is not that good. guys like kobe and pierce developed a pretty good shooting game as they got older. wade is not showing any signs of improving his jump shot with age. that will definitely hurt him as he gets older.

but for now, in the present time, especially healthy, he is still one darn good player. idk how much is left in that tank though.

I was hoping the sentence would finish with "whiny." Seriously, if he doesnt get a call he just throws his hands up and doesnt run back on defense. I used to love watching Wade play, he used to be one of my favorite players, and now with his flopping and dramatics he is just becoming annoying.

I thought this thread was about D Wade? You just can't stomach the fact that LBJ won. Get over it, and saying he has no heart shows you have zero perspective after what we've all just seen from him.

Back to the topic though...Wade was playing hurt for one, but moreover is the fact that he was playing in his first playoffs as option B. So averaging 23, 5, and 5 as an injured #2 option isn't "Average" by any means. Has he aged and lost some speed, sure, but he's still playing as a superstar.

Remember when trolls used to start 20 page flame fests? Now I just keep it moving because they are lame.

I can tell you just learned that phrase and are looking for places to plug it in casually. It worked well here though.

And this "average D Wade" was still better than every player in the league but maybe 10 or 15 or so with his post season play.
