http://clippers.ocregister.com/2012/06/13/report-ray-allen-likes-the-clippers/

source very familiar with Allen’s situation told ESPNNewYork.com that the Heat, as well as potentially the Clippers, will be more attractive to the five-time All-Star in the offseason because they’re top teams that can offer more than the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million. That will likely be the Knicks’ spending limit for free agents. “

Odom? Where is he going to play? He is a SF/PF and the Heat already have LBJ, Miller and Battier at SF and Bosh and Haslem at PF?

The Allen signing makes more sense because you could just slide Wade over to the point and then there would only be one hole in the starting line-up and that would be a center. Though I imagine Riley will, just as he passed up on Fisher, pass up on Allen with the hopes of using the mini MLE on a big man. Riley seems content with his PG rotation.

This.

Rondo is so great at getting open shots for Allen, he'll need a great PG to do the same in order for him to be effective, and CP3 is that PG.

That said, I hope to see Allen stay in Celtic green and finish his career there.

By then wade is older, and if they get Allen he won't make it past 1 year. They will be competitive , but unless they make a couple roster spot changes then the champ will come out of the west every year

If Allen does end up leaving, the Clippers would be one of the places I'd most like to see him play. He'd still be a contender, he'd be in a hometown rivalry against the Lakers so I'd have even more reason to root for him, he'd be getting assists from another great point guard in Chris Paul, and he'd be in the western conference so I wouldn't have to root against him like I would if he went to the Heat.

Ray is still the most feared shooter in the league. A missed shot doesn't register as a miss until the other team is half way thru their play on the offensive end. Every time he shoots a 3, a baby is born.

I doubt he joins Miami tho. IMO it would almost be like betraying KG, Pierce, and Doc. Absolutely no way he comes to Miami. I would welcome his services, but I cant see it happening based on what has gone down with KG, Peirce, and Doc over the last 5 years. He wont go to the team thats knocked them all out of the playoffs 2 years in a row. He was also in Boston for 5 years, based on whats happened, and the fact that he loves it there, and loves KG, Pierce, and Doc so much, he wont want any part of LA either.

IndiansFan337
06-13-2012, 08:53 PM
He's exactly what the LAL need too, someone to stretch defenses...But they also can only offer the veteran's minimum....So I don't expect him to go there over staying with Boston.

I don't think Miami can offer more than the veteran's minimum since they signed Battier last offseason? LAC might not not be able to after last season's signing of K-Mart, but they sure would be a good fit too since guys like Billups and I believe Young are F/A's too.

JB, learn how to accurately title a damn thread.

The quote you started this thread with reads:
source very familiar with Allen’s situation told ESPNNewYork.com that the Heat, as well as potentially the Clippers, will be more attractive to the five-time All-Star in the offseason because they’re top teams that can offer more than the veteran’s minimum of $1.4 million. Bestow your infinite wisdom upon me: Where in that quote does it say "Ray Allen will sign with the Clipper or Heat"?

....It doesn't. It says: "The Heat, as well as potentially the Clippers, will be more attractive''.

I think he will stay in Boston, with all that cap space why would they blow that team up? They can get KG and Allen back must cheaper and add 2 or 3 legit pieces to go with a team that sure didn't look old this playoffs...well except Allen LOL. That said I'm glad to hear he would be interested in the Clipps. They can probably offer more than Miami so they may have the upper hand. I'd be worried that he would be broken down come playoff time again however. If that were the case what value would he really have? Love to see my Clipps bring in Allen and keep Billups. I think chances are good 1 guy will be healthy come playoff time!
