All indications are Nelson will decline that option and test free agency in order to avoid being traded as an expiring contract.

Jameer Nelson can, and likely will, opt-out of the final year of his contract. Sources close to the situation say that Nelson wants to test free agency and sign a long-term deal that gives him some security going forward. Nelson doesn't want to be dealt as an expiring contract and end up in a bad situation. If he leaves Orlando, he wants to choose his next team rather than being dealt somewhere out of his control.

I wonder if he'll end up with the Bulls.

I wouldn't be surprised to be honest, and I always liked him since his days in St. Joseph's. Had he been healthy in 2009, he would have given the Lakers a run for their money in the finals.

But it'll have to be in a S&T as all we can offer is the mini-MLE.

Meaning a crappy team that is simply looking for expirings for future salary cap relief.

Exactly. Espescially on a bad team that'll only use him as a backup and lower his value around the league.

Look at what happened to Raymond Felton who might not get more than the mini-MLE 1 year after putting up near All Star numbers.

He did say he wanted long term. Honestly doubt Miami can give that. He's def going to command more than vet min.. I could be wrong I guess

Miami will have Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, and Andre Miller for PG's next year. At least that is my opinion.

an injury prone shoot first PG who can barely make a pass and make a 3.

NO THANKS.

Outside from Suns assuming they trade Nash, I have no idea Nelson's market. It seems like every team has an up and coming PGs on their roster already.

5ass, NOOOOOOOOO. Don't disrespect Jameer like that!

Also, Magic fans are gonna be crying their eyes out when the next starting point guard is Jannero Pargo or something. I think Nelson was so under-appreciated by Magic fans. Yes, he had his flaws but he had so much heart and was a great shooter. Sad day in Magic history.

NO THANKS.

In the past 3 seasons he's played nearly 90% of his games and he's a career 39% 3-point shooter, what on earth are you talking about?

As a Bulls fan keep Jameer as far away from Chicago as possible

he should play backup for Westbrook since D-Fish might retire soon. or just to the heat Mavricks to get valuable minutes.

He would make a better 6th man then a starter in this league.

I seriously believe that. I always liked cj, and i wanted the magic to get him when he was a FA after starting for the warriors. I thought he would be able to challenge jameer, and maybe take over his starting role. Instead they signed duhon...
Jameer was a good PG a couple years back when there werent a lot of great pgs in the league. I realize how long jameer has been here and how hard he Played sometimes. He hit a lot of big shots for us over the years, but Sadly jameer is not good enough anymore. That being said, if jameer wants to take the vet min and come off the bench (very unlikely) he is more than welcome.

Smart move on Jameer's part for his long term future. I can't imagine his value being all that high, mainly because he's just not as good as he was a few years back.

I've always rooted for the guy since his St. Joe's days, but he'll be lucky to see 5-6 mil per in a 3 or 4 year deal. His game has deteriorated a bit.

Eh, I think he should stay. Whatever his contract is worth at the current moment, he certainly wont be worth that on the open market especially after a pretty sub-par year.

he'd have to go to a team where he wouldn't be the primary ball-handler. I mean, a team like Miami would make perfect sense, as he'd have James as the primary ball-handler, and he'd be more of a shooter. Also, the Lakers wouldn't be a bad option with the ball being primarily in Kobe's hand.

The Suns maybe his next stop if Nash leaves. I would say Portland but that seems like a disaster waiting to happen with the string of luck they've been having.

Depending on what happens to Evans, the Kings may be in his future.
