From HuffingtonPost.com (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/31/deshawn-stevenson-atm-in-kitchen_n_1558565.html?ref=money)

Rich people do crazy things with their money, like throw paper airplanes made of cash out the window at passersby. But we've never seen anything like this.

In a recently posted Instagram photo, it appears that NBA star DeShawn Stevenson grew tired of hunting down an ATM to withdraw cash and instead resorted to installing one in the comforts of his own kitchen.

We wonder: Is the Brooklyn Nets player -- who earned over $26 million on the court as of 2010, according to USA Today -- planning to charge his buddies a transaction fee for using the machine?

UPDATE: We were shocked by TMZ's report Friday morning that Stevenson charges friends a $4.50 transaction fee. According to TMZ, the ATM contains $20,000 and is restocked up to six times per year.

You know, you can always just have cash in your sock drawer or something.

Why do that when you can make $4.50 off your friends?

Fixed.

It's a bit unnecessary to make someone spend $4.50, no?

If they do the same for you, then it's fair.

I'm kidding, why a guy who has made 26 million in a career, so far, has to be as cheap as to charging his friends to use an ATM beats me.

I assume the electricity and maintenance cost him extra money not needed. Not that the extra cost matters to a millionaire, but it's not the smartest business decision. Also, why bother to have your friends spend extra $$ unless it's a 2 way street?

Actually ATMs are set to have a withdrawal limit per transaction. If his boy wants let's say 5 grand, that is multiple transactions. He makes money. Likewise the transaction limit helps Stevenson as he limits himself from just going in and grabbing more cash at once like with a safe. Not that dumb. He makes a buck and saves himself from himself

Who said they HAVE to use his ATM machine? You're complaining like those people who use another bank's ATM and complain about the fees. If you don't like it, go find your bank's ATM.

cue home invasion robbery in 3,2,1

Not real surprising that over 60% of NBA players are broke 5-10 years after leaving the NBA.

Dude is so dumb he probably pays a transaction fee on withdrawing his own cash!

Not in the least. I really doubt it'll be used nearly enough to make up for the maintenance fees.

Banks need to do that. You shouldn't really do that to your firends unless there's a trade off and it's a 2 way street.

He's just doing it to be cool. In reality, he's an idiot for spending thousands on expenses and maintenance for no reason whatsoever. You need to insert bills in there anyways. Is it so hard to just keep it in a safe?

What if he's havin a party... and his friends are drunk... and they made a bet and someone needs to pay up. $4.50 is much cheaper then a cab, and definatley cheaper then a DUI.

I don't think anybody is too surprised about this. Stevenson has done a lot of extraordinary things since he came into the NBA.
