View Full Version : LaMarcus Aldridge hospitalized with deadly blood virus

File this under both terrifying and candid.

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge disclosed that he was hospitalized this week with a "deadly blood virus" on his Blazers.com blog on Friday.

" On Saturday I came down with a blood virus. I quickly became sick and had to be rushed to the hospital. I thought it was a case of bad food or a bad cold, but I was wrong. It turned out to be a very serious virus that if not treated quickly could actually be deadly! One thing I know for sure is that I've never felt worse in my life and there were times I wasn't really sure where I was going. Thankfully I had a lot of family support and great medical care that helped me fight through it and now I've turned the corner and I'm feeling much better."

Aldridge, 26, has been writing the blog -- dubbed L.A.'s Rehab Central -- as he recovers from a minor hip surgery he underwent in May. His recovery time from the labral tear and subsequent surgery was pegged at 2-to-4 months and effectively eliminated him from consideration for USA Basketball's 2012 Olympics team.

Aldridge has also missed time during his career due to Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a heart condition that has required him to undergo an eletrical treatment procedure multime times.

Wow.

Hope he gets better. Might've been a complication from his hip surgery.

Wow, I have Wolfe Parkinson White also. Didn't know he had that. I do know that it doesn't have any effect on life expectancy or quality of life, just a rapid heartbeat from time to time.

Good to hear that he's doing better now, that's some scary stuff.

I hope he makes a full recovery, one of the best players in the league (top 15-20) and yet, still extremely humble.

While I think he's up there when it comes to best players....lol didn't he essentially blame everybody else on the team for this past season?

They stripped the team naked and left him without any real team to compete with, after a couple of postseason berths, I'd be pissed if my team started over as well... If we can agree on one thing, it would be that LMA was the only one playing at a high level for Portland this season.

And KLove gets dominated by KG, 1v1 doesn't solve everything, try again. Not implying that KLove isn't better than LMA, just saying your evidence defending your stance is flawed.

Raph for Raphael, not Ralph.

That was one of the worst trades I've ever seen, especially considering GForce may walk in the offseason.

He doesn't.

Dominated?

http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/h2h_finder.cgi?request=1&p1=aldrila01&p2=loveke01

You think KLove dominated because he had that one 44 point night when LMA had 14, when in reality LMA more than holds his own against KLove when they play.

And in case you bring up the point that the above numbers are skewed because of KLove's limited minute early years (which you should), here are their head to head stats when KLove started getting "elite" level minutes:

KLove: 25.7 PPG, 14.1 RPG, 50.4% FG
LMA: 26.2 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 56.7%

So how exactly does KLove dominate LMA? :eyebrow:
