Looking into the deep Playoff run both the Spurs and Celtics have made this year has simply blown me away. Not to mention the performance of the veterans on each team. The Big Fundamental and the Big Ticket both going strong and teaching the younglings how it's done.

So this question suddenly hits me, what if... just what if today's young NBA superstars were to match up against the ageing and recently retired superstar? When all were at their prime!!!

Here are the two teams I personally came up with, in which I believe the players on each team should be the best of their era. If there may be any differences in opinions just post below.

Today's Superstars
Point Guards: Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams

Shooting Guards: Dwayne Wade, Joe Johnson, Andre Iguodala

Small Forwards: LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony

Power Forwards: Amare Stoudemire, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Bake Griffin

Centres: Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum

Past Superstars - Not going to go too far back, these players are drafted between 1992-2002
Point Guards: Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Gilbert Arenas

Shooting Guards: Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Manu Ginoboli

Small Forwards: Grant Hill, Paul Pierce

Power Forwards: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Dirk Nowitzki

Centres: Shaquielle O'Neal, Yao Ming

Let me know what you guys think, vote in the poll too. :D

The only legit run is the Spurs one, do you see this celts team get past a fully healthy bulls team?
Come on!

this isn't a question. the 90s players would destroy this era, at least as a team. Shaq was the most dominant big man in his era. Yao Ming was only stopped by SHAQ rarely. Tim Duncan and Garnett were pure beasts. Kobe and Ray would shoot the lights out. Nash AND Kidd are real PG's.
Today's era is good, but consists of ISO up tempo players who rely most on their athleticism to strive.

Old Timers would destroy the Young Guns. They have the advantage at every position minus SF. The team would literally out tough the younger counterparts.

Young Gunz. Iverson won't pass Shaq the ball.

The Veterans as long as Iverson isn't playing the point.

Why isn't Yao on the Young Gunz or Amare on the Vets? Both of them were drafted in 2002.

Neither does Joe Johnson. Nor Griffin or LMA.

Over the past 10 years, the players drafted after 2000, Joe Johnson has been the 2nd best SG behind Wade. He deserves to be there.

Doesn't make him a superstar.

No but that wasn't the point, it makes him the 2nd best SG to be on the "Young Gunz" team. There is no one other than Wade that you can take ahead of him to fill that spot. This wasn't "Who is a Superstar" it's who can be on the Young team. Johnson is the default back-up SG, you said he shouldn't be.

he old superstars would destroy the current. Anyone who witnessed the aged superstar when they were younger should agree. They were Incredible talents way better than nowadays. Tmac Vince AI Kobe Shaq Yao etc were all from another planet to me.

Plus Jkidd would run it 1000 better than CP3. And Shaq/KG/Duncan would laugh at any BLake Griffen or LA...Tmac/VC/AI/Kobe all better offensive players than Wade or whoever

they were such natural talents too..its just not even close

Shaq/Duncan/KG alone would rape. The others are icing on the cake.

Why isn't Yao on the Young Gunz or Amare on the Vets? Both of them were drafted in 2002.

Because I also tried to sort them, so one team are people that are under 30, and one team are people that are 30+.

But yeah, its great to know there's a bunch of people that think the same way I do, I feel like as time goes by, the players in the future may disgust me.
