As far as I remember, he didn't. Didn't he do it for his future in being a GM/owner for them while still wanting to play?

I doubt many were mad at him for it, but after all that time and glory with the Bulls, to end his career had me wondering. Also it wasn't long after he retired the second time causing the Bulls trading their top players away (not that it was his fault they did that) that he came back to play.

No, because the money he made over those 2 yrs as a player, he generously donated it to the 9/11 cause.

Nah because he was screwed out of his management position afterwards. People were sympathetic towards him.
