I understand the idea of getting different points of view from visiting message boards, but blatantly plagiarizing is ridiculous

lets get TIMVP on psd.

From what ive read Timvp owns the other site. and that is really bad attempt to cover his own ***

Yea you can plagiarize alot better than that, thats almost word for word

onlythisfar41
05-15-2012, 08:48 PM
Yea a lot of those sentences are basically word for word, he 100% stole from that poster. Its crazy that a professional scout writing a piece that costs money would do that.

Nymfan87
05-15-2012, 08:49 PM
That's bad.

That guy should be embarrassed. Mostly that he had to steal from a source that is about the equivalent of PSD and secondly that his plagiarizing is absolutely terrible.

ESPN guys, you can steal any of my insightful posts if you want. :)

Wow this is just so low. Can't the guy just credit his sources?

LOL

that was hilarious, you can tell he plagiarized too because he tried to change a couple words in each sentence to cover himself lol...epic fail

It is basketball, so we can't be too surprised. This game doesn't have the brightest percentage of fans in the sports community.

You'd think the editors could catch this...but plagiarism-catching programs don't really exist for message board content and stuff like that. I tried to see if I could find a match on my own and couldn't.

I mean, it's so obviously plagiarism, it's just hard to catch. A rogue act (basically my point here) and he should certainly be reprimanded.

He should be fired on the spot

Haha... timvp was a little shocked from his reaction on Spurs Talk. And the fact that it needs insider access is a joke

Can we just tear down ESPN now? I mean how many homer, biased, over-hyping, money hungry, plagiarizing crap needs to come from them to show they are not a good sports network?

Why can't all NBA related news be on NBA TV, TNT, and bring it back to NBC. NFL has it's Network, and so on. Enough of ESPN. Stay away from the flashy lights. If your not a fan of New York, Boston, Duke, North Carolina, LeBron, Tebow related sports news, you have no use for ESPN.

Spurs fans are some of the more knowledgeable of basketball fans! Just kidding! I'm a member of the site since I'm a Spurs fan. That ripoff was classic, though!!

Weak.

It's nice that the "pro's" think highly enough of the smarter basketball posters to swipe their posts, however they should give proper credit where it's due.

More than a few posters put considerable time into following the game and doing statistical research. To wholesale lift their content without giving credit is sad.

Oh man that is low, taking something from a Message Board, rewriting just a few Words and then put it behind a pay wall. Really do those guys have no ethics? I would expect someone that works for Scouts Inc. to be able to make his own analysis. And if you use something from other people just make it clear give credit where it's due.

This is an odd situation. I didn't think that messages posted in public forums had any kind of copyright or IP status. Most of it is just a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy...

Like I've heard that some people used content aggregator bots to scrape websites for comments and whatnot and used it for various purposes. I haven't read the fine print on PSDs user agreement, but I'm pretty sure it would say that everything posted on here is released from all usage restrictions, and that if anybody has a claim or a beef about PSD content being borrowed or used anywhere it is PSD itself.

If an idea is good it should be passed around, and if there is something you want to protect or get credit for, putting it on here is not the place, unless you are some kind of internet forum legend or something.

Still, it's kind of silly that Carroll used that post for his article. If anything he is incredibly lazy. All it said was "Spurs are fast, Clippers gotta be fast too, 91%, blah blah," but he thought so much of it that he took the time to retool it to about only an 90% spin percentage

Someone I went to high school with gave me his insider account information. I gave it to someone else, and so did they. Now basically our entire high school class is using the same insider account. I know longer feel any shame over this.

The person posting owns the board which would make him exempt from the TOS.

Yeah Insider is overpriced. I had a free account for awhile and then when I got ESPN Mag through a deal, used that to get Insider after ESPN cut off my Insider access

TIMVP's forum is a great one to be apart of he is a very knowledgeable basketball fan. When everyone found out about it I think we were all shocked. Then alot of us spread the story as best we could. John Carroll just committed a journalism sin. His "career" as a "journalist" should be stained quite badly, if not over completely, should the story break through wide enough. If he wasn't such a tool I would feel embarrassed for the man.

i am almost done with my 2 year that i paid a one time fee for however long ago. not repurchasing.

they probably won't. they barely did with the sarah phillips fiasco and that got a lot more play nationally.

If ESPN doesn't look out for Sarah Phillips type **** then this doesn't surprise me.

The internet makes it too easy to cheat in a lot of ways, starting at the high school level, but you would think a professional would be proof-read for errors/spelling mistakes/ plagarism... But you would be wrong. Sad.

I guess I should post a prettier pic lol

How stupid... He knows what a search engine is and how it works right? At least don't do it word for word, if I did that **** on a paper I'd fail my class and be on an ethics contract... That's not even good plagarism.
