Rather get a long term deal and decide where he wants to go

Than get traded next season to a bad situation being a expiring contract

Opens up for Steve Nash maybe?

^Jameer is far from a scrub.

He and Howard are really close, they came in to Orlando together and I think that part of his opt out is knowing that he wont be playing with Howard anymore

Nelson is a GREAT back up PG on a contender

But not a starter, miss his talent from College

Will Steve Nash go to Magic?

Orlando would be perfect for Nash.

1) He made Jason Richardson a damnnnn good player

2) Bunch of shooters

3) Howard

Didn't Richardson knock up Nash's wife? If so, I don't see him wanting to be Richardson's team mate. I'd trade away Richardson to get Nash!

Nelson isn't a bad player. I think a new situation would serve him well. As long as he isn't asking for too much, I could see a team picking him up. I could see him doing well with an experienced team. If I had a younger squad like Utah, I'd go for Dragic.

He's a good backup PG for a team that needs offense off the bench. I don't think he's enough of a playmaker to be a starter though (unless he is playing with a guy like lebron that basically runs the point).

so let me get this straight... he is gonna opt out of a $7.8 million option so he can sign a deal for what 3 / $17 million at the absolute most...

dude is 30 already with a history of injuries... i just don't see it under the new CBA

You answered your own question! History of injuries, now in the 30 club, doesn't know the future. He might as well get a 3 or 4 year deal less money but guaranteed than a 1 year of uncertainty

Nelson for Tyreke Evans and a First round Pick and also Phil Jackson to Magic so MJ can't snatch him up to be Bobcats Coach.

ok... but no way he gets a 4th year unless it is a team option and the overall deal is CHEAP

check ur facts.
-Nelson opts out.
-Hedo's contract (in his last year) +1st (#19)+ 2nd traded to some team with capspace
- trade JJ redick for a 2nd

Boom the magic are under the cap to sign a max player.
Im not saying this will happen, but its plausible.

Thats why fisher is no longer a starter. Jameer is much better than fisher though.
All im saying Jameer used to be a good PG back when there werent that many great PGs in this league. If u go look at starting PGs 3 years ago and compare them to now you would be amazed how much better they are today.

He would be good on the Lakers with all the double teaming Bynum & Bryant receive. He knows how to set up a big man, & would be perfect as a 4th best player on a team NOT a 2nd best player on a team as the Magic think he is. Maybe this opens the door for Steve Nash to come to ORL ofr $8 million a year. :D Or if ORL decides not to pick up JJs contract, with Nelson's contract that's about $14 million and ORL finds someone to obsorb J-Rich's contract, that can free up enough money for Deron Williams.

Jameer is a stud in the right situation and unfortunately the Magic are not the right situation. They are counting on him to be their 2nd best player and that's not what he is. He would be perfect for the Lakers & yes would possibly make them 'stacked' cause of his role as their 4th best player/scorer.

But, they sucked. We go to the Finals in spite of their awful play, not because of it....

Jameer is my favorite player. If he leaves, I wish him the best of luck. For the team, it could either help or hurt. We're gonna have to sign a PG with the MLE, or trade for one now. It does save us a little bit of money this off-season, obviously. But that saved money isn't gonna help us out. It doesn't get us under the cap, and I'm not even sure it gets us under the luxury tax threshold either.

IDK. I'm indifferent. This team will be drastically different either way, for better or worse, sometime soon. Probably the end of an era.

I don't know how you define "most effective". TS%?

Anyway, to make my point simple he did not get significantly better, so you can't say Nash "made him". Nash deserves credit for a lot of careers, but not J-Rich.
