Kobe Bryant vs Derek Fisher, for the first time ever in playoff history.

CHAPTER ONE: THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL

After coming into the league together in the draft class of 1996, a young bald headed 17 yr old who slowly grew an afro in his 2nd season became best of friends with a 6-foot bald back up PG who was on the verge of being an accountant before pursuing a career in professional basketball.

The two were part of early playoff disappointments against the Jazz (twice) and Spurs, before winning 3 straight titles in 4 finals appearances in a span of 5 yrs. They shared many playoff heroics. When Shaq fouled out in game 4 @ Indiana in the 2000 Finals, it was young 21 yr old Kobe Bryant, who took over in OT and gave the Lakers a commanding 3-1 lead, which eventually led the Lakers to their first title in a dozen years. In the 2004 Semis game 5 @ San Antonio, it was Fisher's 0.4 shot that catapulted the Lakers and helped dethrone the defending champs who had just ended the Lakers 3-title reign the yr before. However, with a disappointing 04 Finals blowup against Detroit, the two parted ways.

CHAPTER TWO: FAR APART; THE STRUGGLES, TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS

Fisher seeked a lucrative 5 yrs deal with the Golden State Warriors, and in his 2 yrs, didn't sniff the postseason. After 2 yrs, he was traded to the Jazz and made the postseason, giving a memorable performance in a series against his former Warriors when his daughter was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. Kobe became THE MAN after Shaq's trade, and he failed to make the postseason once, and then had back-to-back 1st round losses to PHX. The one moment that stood out was Kobe's game 4 winner against the Suns in 06.

THEN KOBE ASKED FOR A TRADE IN THE SUMMER OF 2007, AND ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE IN LAKER LAND!

CHAPTER THREE: THE REUNION; NEVER MISSED A BEAT

Fisher needed to find a new home for his daughter's treatment; he was left out of his contract, and soon joined back his buddy in Los Angeles. They suffered the loss in the '08 finals against Boston, where the team was labeled soft. They came back the next yr winning 2 more titles, once against Orlando in '09, which Fisher once again gave the memorable clutch performances of game 4 @ Orlando, giving the Lakers a 3-1 lead. The other in 2010, Game 3 @ Boston to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead. The Lakers 2-yr title reign ended in a sweep of the 2nd round against the Mavs.

With the departure of Phil Jackson, and the arrival of Mike Brown, with previous teammates Lamar Odom, Shannon Brown, Jordan Farmar and Sasha Vujacic leaving the team, the Lakers struggled under the new system with new personnel in a condensed season.

THEN FISHER WAS TRADED AT THE DEADLINE.

CHAPTER FOUR: ENEMIES ON THE COURT, FRIENDS TIL THE END

After Fisher was let out of his contract from the Houston Rockets, he signed for the rest of the season with a West contender in the Oklahoma City Thunder, while Bryant kept trucking with the new personnel and new additions to the team. After both helped their teams get out of the first round with their respective teams, after 16 seasons, the two will face each other.

Though friends, each man stands in the other's way for a chance to chase a 6th NBA World Championship, the 1st without the other. They might be enemies on the court, but the friendship is for a lifetime.

Lakers beat them in 2010 4-2? IF the Refs call this fair the Lakers have a shot, last series Lakers shot a staggering 55 less free throws and were able to close them out in 6. But if the refs favor OKC then they are gonna win without a doubt.

Free throw attempts in 2010
Game 1: OKC=24 L.A=22w

Game 2: OKC=33 L.A=32w

Game 3: OKC=34w L.A=12

Game 4: OKC=48w L.A=28

Game 5: OKC=24 L.A=31w

For LA to have any chance, Bynum has to wake up. He was irrelevant through much of the series vs Nuggets. Pau needs to play like he did in game 7 or we will soon be out in 4/5 games. No excuses for not turning up all games now we're not favourites anymore

Dont let the score fool you. Jump shot after jump shot after jump shot. The Lakers game plan of allowing jump shots is a good one. They are tired (their own fault) and slow on their rotations, but as the series goes on, if they can keep the Thunder taking the same shots they did in the first half, they will win.

Why is everyone all of a sudden saying that the Lakers suck and there's no way they can win and that they'll get swept? Yeah they're down 30 but the series isn't over today. It's best of seven for a reason. They'll make defensive adjustments and hopefully they come out better next game.

Because that's what most of you guys do. Live in the moment. I mean to start the season many said Russell Westbrook wasn't a top 20 player in the league because of the way he was playing and Harden was way better. Judging from his play to finish the season and tonight would you say they were correct?

There is no adjustments unless they borrow Deron Williams for 7 games.

Kobe has to score to keep it respectable. OKC has dominated LA the last 2 seasons. It's not going to change unless LA starts trying to make roster adjustments against OKC like how OKC added Perkins and Nazr to combat LA's size.

Spurs vs OKC = EPIC

The two best offenses in the NBA. I still pick OKC to come out of the West though.
