@dailythunder: The Thunder will make a major announcement today, presumably awarding James Harden Sixth Man of the Year,

@DarnellMayberry: Harden will become the 26th Sixth Man of the Year since the award's inception in 1982-83 and the first in Thunder/Sonics history

@DarnellMayberry: James Harden expected to be named Sixth Man of the Year today: http://t.co/zx78YQXu

I'm sure there will be plenty more links relatively soon, but this news isn't all that surprising so whatever.

Well deserved, Harden had an incredible year. And I don't think it's a fluke year, his 2011 Season was already pretty good in the limited minutes.

Probably the first of many awards for Harden. Heard he's got the attention of USA basketball too. Looks like he's got a serious chance to make the team and get a medal this year.

His regular season has been great but he's been even better in the playoffs. There's not much this guy can't do on the court? Can shoot, get to the basket, is a good passer, and has the will to be the best...

Does this mean Mark Cuban and the Mavs are going to acquire him this summer and then ruin his career?

Congrats to Harden... question is now however. Where does this season rank among all the greatest SMOY winning seasons of all time? Statistically its one of the best ever.

That would only compound his greatness and his versatility. No player has ever been able to go from being the best at his position in the league to adapting and changing his game to be the best 6th man in the league.

Wade is really such a great player.

Would further solidify his legacy as a HOFER

On a side note, wasn't he sixth man for the US at the olympics a few years ago because of the position being filled (Kobe)?

I cant remember a better 6th man season. Maybe I havent done enough research or it just seems that way for some reason, or because he has his best games when televised but he won the vote by a wide margin and he has established himself as not just a great 6th man but one of the league's better players.

He is a great scorer, fairly efficient player, can play 3 positions, he is fearless, big game player, tough, and exciting to watch. Much props to James Harden!

Hope he stays injury free. The last young SG that played the right way (Brandon Roy) wasn't so lucky.

Okay. So I'm bored and I'm thinking I'm going to try to make a case for Lou Williams who finished 2nd in the voting. Now in no way shape or form am I going to say Williams should have won the 6MOY or that Harden is less deserving but keep an open mind and hear me out if you're not going to have an open mind just ignore this post because it isn't for you.

Williams led the 76ers in scoring and more importantly 4th quarter scoring as his team's 6th man. Had Harden been a member of the 76ers he would have done so no doubt and possibly even better. Now my argument for Lou would be that he was possibly more valuable to his team (being that he was his team's leading scorer) winning than Harden was to his (no evidence to this so I'm not going to act as if it's fact) since he had Durant and Westbrook both on his team.

So my question to you guys is despite the fact that Harden is better and more deserving in damn near every way could a serious case be made for Lou because of the fact that even though he came of the bench he was still the #1 option on a playoff team? His stats were pretty impressive by 6th men standards but by 6th men standards Harden's were borderline Godly. Still relative to team his value may have been greater.
