The average WP48 value is 0.100, since a team of 5 such players would produce .5 wins per 48 minutes, which would equate to winning 41 of 82 games. In most sites that use the WP48 metric, we divide players into these categories:

< 0.0 WP48 A player who actually costs his teams wins (i.e. this player is actually worse than a player who contributes nothing)
< 0.100 WP48 A below-average player
> 0.100 WP48 An above-average player
0.200+ WP48 A "star" player. If WP48 were the metric used for choosing all-stars, most players with 0.200+ would make the cut (i.e. these players produce twice as many wins per minute as an average player)
0.300+ WP48 A "superstar" player. These would be All-NBA 1st-team and MVP candidates.

I still think Wins Produced is a garbage stat but decided to throw it in there anyways. Out of all of these stats, ASPM/VORP do the best job of predicting future team records (meaning its the best stat for telling what will happen going forward).

I'm not surprised that Taj has the highest RAPM this year. He's brings so many intangibles to the game. I'm happy to see Gallo in there as well. He should be a very unique player to have throughout his career.

Yup, very strong defense and the fact that he's subbing in for Boozer leads to the highest RAPM. I think he should be the starter personally. With that said, its still probably better to use the prior version of RAPM. Although, I've seen basketball prospectus reference the non-prior version a # of times in their articles.

Yeah, I'm still a fan of Gallo and unfortunately a lot of Knicks fans trash him because he was what we gave up for Melo. Gallo beats him in RAPM though. Found it interesting to see Melo in the top 10 in ezPM- I suspect that has something to do with the counterpart defense being included in his stats. He had a good counterpart PER and I suspect that his overall counterpart stats were strong, even if ezPM is calculated differently than PER. I still like the stat though but it raises a good question on how reliable counterpart stats are.

If I remember correctly though, ezPM finished strong in the APBR retrodiction contest, which suggests its a good stat.
