GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) Amare Stoudemire says there's a ''great chance'' he can play in Game 4 of the Knicks' series against Miami on Sunday despite cutting his left hand on a fire extinguisher case.

Stoudemire is out of Thursday's Game 3 after a surgeon repaired a muscle in the hand Tuesday. The Knicks are calling him doubtful for Game 4, but Stoudemire says he's ''not totally sure yet.''

Stoudemire, wearing a large wrap around his hand, says he has reason for hope because ''I just persevere through a lot of injuries and work hard to recover from injuries.''

He says he punched the case out of anger Monday after the Knicks fell behind 2-0 and wasn't trying to injure himself, adding there was only a small piece of glass that he hit.

100% Agree, this match-up is a joke and if it goes beyond game 4 I'll be shocked.

I found it amusing that Knick's fans once thought that they even had a remote shot at being a championship contender.

50-50 record since acquiring Carmelo Anthony last year says it all.

It's not that difficult to notice a pattern or a trend. The .500 record since Melo joining the Knicks includes playoff games also.

Many fans keep making up excuses but the truth of the matter is that throughout the whole Melo era including Linsanity or the Woodson era the Knicks record has been teetering around .500 in a very weak conference.

Some fans might want to re-consider on just putting the blame on Amare. Carmelo has the worst winning percentage in post season series since the 90's of current players. Not until the season when Billups joined him was he able to go deep in the playoffs and improve his overall record from the 4-20 that it was before that season, it's well on it's way to 6-32.

Reality is starring many straight in the eye, stop setting yourselves up with dissapointments.

Injuries have depleted the team currently, and Melo's tenure here has been marked by inconsistency in the roster and in management. At full health, this team looks like:

Lin/Baron
Shumpert/JR
Melo/Fields
Amare/Novak
Tyson/Jeffries

A team with legitimate depth, a perimeter defender and a paint defender (leading to a strong overall defense), a couple guys who can create shots, and an elite clutch player.

Amare's decline was not anticipated to happen this rapidly, and injuries have hit right at the playoffs for two consecutive seasons. This team isn't at all a championship contender yet, but to say "I found it amusing that Knick's fans once thought that they even had a remote shot at being a championship contender" is hyperbolic criticism.

You guys know that Knicks are injured right? Davis has hamstring.

Jeffries is useless because of the knee and Chandler with the flu.

The only healthy players are Carmelo, smith, Novak , and fields.

But fields is terrible so our roster is depleted. Knicks were 18-6 with Woodson and the bad record was because of d'antoni. If next season has the same results, then changes have to be made.

What do you expect when you sign a PG who has been nothing but injured for the past 3/4 seasons?

Exactly front office was not really smart in signing a point guard in the offseason.

But you seem to forget that that was with Dantoni coaching.

Sorry, but people gotta be blind to see that we were a .500 team during the "amare-Felton-Gallo-Wilson" pairing and a .500 team with the "Amare-Melo-Billups" pairing and then below .500 team with the "Amare-Melo-Tyson" pairing.

Sorry, but It wasn't necessarily the team. It was the coach. Plain and simple.

Once Dantoni got fired, all of a sudden the Knicks go 18-6...and against tough opponents too, not like the "linsanity" run (8-1), in which the only good teams were good (Dallas and Lakers).

The main problem is that the Knicks ran into the Heat in the first round, plain and simple.

At the end of the day,
even though the Heat only got to 2nd place in the eastern conference;
even though the Heat had a worse record than a few western conference teams;
even though their play after the allstar break was below standards

even through all that, EVERYONE knew that they were STILL the team to beat.

Knicks simply went up against the worst possible team. ANY other eastern conference team would have had trouble/lost in 4-6 games.

With amare, melo and tyson making so much money already, its difficult to find a veteran guard with as much experience as baron. We had no choice.....

Actually the combined record of the other opponents was 514-542 which is under .500 and that includes
Boston with one of the big 3 injured
An unhealthy, but playing Rose
Clippers without Paul
A messed up Orlando Magic
and a Philly team that got worse and worse throughout the season
which accounts for 238 of the 514 wins...

They actually had an easy schedule to finish when they went 18-6
with about half of those games at home...

Also I'd pick
Pacers
Bulls
Heat
Boston - to sweep NY

I'd pick
Atlanta - To win in 5-6

And Orlando would probably lose in 6

Its a shame on how much critism he's received this year. The guys has been playing with a far bigger pain than we can all imagine. Yes he is a superstar and this is his job but he is also human. He's dealt with coaching changes, linsanity, line up changes, its his team wait no its not, then all the family problems with one brother in jail and another dead.

This series reminds me of the suns vs lakers 2010 wcf series. Everybody thought the lakers were going to sweep the suns after the first 2 games but the suns came within a rebound of taking the lead series and perhaps going to the finals. Either way I see the this series playing out in a similar way.

Why are people so rough on Knicks fans? It's ****ing Miami Heat, of course they are the favourites...Game 1 was one sided but in game 2 the Knicks hang well. Miami can go up 2-0 when having home court advantage against any team (Again, game 1 was spmething different).

Also i gotta say this, no playoff series even start until a team wins on the road. Nothing different here.

Now if NY wins tonight, there's 0 chance he returns. They will know the chemistry is a mess with him and no Amar'e gives them their best shot at winning.

My guess is the meaty part by his thumb or by his pink was cut deep. So THAT is what was 'hanging'. Still gross to think about. I've had friends get nasty cuts like this before and they didn't go out a few days later and play sports.
