..........................................
Point Guard: CJ Watson vs Jrue Holiday

CJ Watson has made 25 starts this year in the absence of Derrick Rose, and has filled in nicely for the league's reigning MVP. He's been able to build a bit of chemistry with the starting unit, but going up against Holiday will be a big test for him. Jrue has emerged as the PG of the future in Philly and heís played well all season long, missing just one game in the 66-game condensed NBA schedule. The advantage here will likely swing to the Sixers favor. However, luckily for the Bulls that shouldn't matter too much. As Watson's shooting and intangibles should be enough with the Bulls' defense to overcome Rose's absence.

Advantage: Sixers

......................................Evan Turner ________________.__________ Rip Hamilton
Shooting Guard: Rip Hamilton vs Evan Turner

Hamilton, like Rose has also missed a bulk of the season due to injury, but heís looked much improved in Chicagoís last few regular-season games and appears to have his Playoff legs ready. Turner, since being placed in the starting lineup by Doug Collins, has played remarkably well and one would think his youth and activity is what gives him the edge in this matchup. But donít count out Rip. Heís a wily veteran than knows all the tricks of the trade and, with the way Chicago runs him off multiple screens in their offense, thatís going to take a lot out of Turner. Especially if Hamilton is healthy.

Advantage: Bulls

...................................Andre Iguodala _________l__________________ Luol Deng
Small Forward: Luol Deng vs Andre Iguodala

Both Deng and Iguodala are coming off solid campaigns where both were named All-Stars for the first time in their careers. Head-to-head this season, neither player has really gotten the best of the other, and thatís pretty much the way itís been throughout their careers. Iguodala obviously has the edge athletically both in transition and on defense, but Deng counters with being very skilled in the half-court offensively, and heís one of the NBAís best defenders in his own right. No clear edge here.

Advantage: Push

http://i.imgur.com/TBAH0.jpghttp://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/nba/players/full/91.png&w=234&h=170 ___PF___http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1594/cb5l.jpghttp://img855.imageshack.us/img855/3802/bulls2.jpg
......................................Elton Brand ______________.____________ Carlos Boozer
Power Forward: Carlos Boozer vs Elton Brand

Carlos Boozer rebounded from his disaster of a season last year and was really the only mainstay in Tom Thibodeauís starting lineup during the regular season. He started all 66 games this year, and although his per game averages across the board are down, he was definitely solid for the Bulls this year. Brand, on the other hand, had a very quiet and unassuming season in Philly this year. His scoring dipped 4 points per game since last season, and although heís still solid, heís not the player he once was. Carlos Boozer has clear advantage over Brand in this matchup.

Advantage: Bulls

http://i.imgur.com/TBAH0.jpghttp://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/nba/players/full/3211.png&w=234&h=170 ___CF___http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/7810/jn13.jpghttp://img855.imageshack.us/img855/3802/bulls2.jpg
.....l..............................Spencer Hawes _______l_________________ Joakim Noah
Center: Joakim Noah vs Spencer Hawes

Spencer Hawes is the most logical to start at center for the Sixers in this series. Hawes is certainly the better matchup with Noah because of his ability to score and rebound the ball. But thereís no question Joakim is the better of the two players. His energy around the basket combined with his passing ability gives him the edge, and he shouldnít have a problem outplaying Hawes in this series.

Advantage: Bulls

The Bulls have one of the most productive benches in the league and role players play best at home, so I think the Bulls take game 2. In game 1, it looked like Philly stopped going to the post with Brand after a while and became a jump shooting team. If Lou Williams gets hot and Thad Young can start hitting his shots, the game might go to Philly.

Now that Rose is out, I want to see if Coach Thibbs starts putting Deng in the post. I don't think Deng can drive past Iggy so the Bulls need to make it easier for Deng to get scoring chances. Maybe move Boozer out of the post during those sets (looks like Noah won't hit too many jumpers this series).

Bulls defensively have been better without Rose this year.

And Philly was lucky to hit 89 in game 1, the Bulls were up 20+ and got lazy late, which is the whole reason Rose had to stay in-they allowed PHI to start working back instead of dominating.

I had Bulls in 5, with the Rose injury, I say sweep by Bulls due to them wanting to prove all these analysts wrong who are saying they can't do anything without him.

No. Deng is not a post player. Boozer is the post guy, Deng can still run by Iggy on occassion but his best asset is his 3 pt shooting and jump shot.

the regular season is different, there was no time to prepare for Lucas and Watson and there was little to no pressure on them bcuz the Bulls were cruising to a top 2 seed either way. Holiday/Lou Will > Watson/Lucas and its going to show the rest of the series

I thought the Bulls could sweep the 76ers, and this doesn't change with Rose out.

76ers just have no killer instinct IMO. Bulls will still destroy them on the glass, so even with a weaker offense shooting lower percentage shots with Rose injured, the Bulls will just pick up the slack with 2nd chance points.

Let's not act like these are rookies, there is a lot of tape on Watson and Rose was out for weeks in March with Watson playing and the Bulls kept winning.

And there is no more pressure than when they played the Heat and both Watson and Lucas were able to come up big in those games. I don't worry about pressure with them.

Well he's nothing compared to what he used to be, he's always banged up, and Turner has been pretty solid since becoming a starter.

Either way, Philly still has no chance in this series.

Rip's played pretty darn well when he's played, especially during the last few weeks of the season. Turner's a much better rebounder, but aside from that there isn't much difference between the two.

Regardless, you're right, Philly has no shot.

I'm tired of crap teams (NYK, PHI) thinking the Bulls are a one-trick pony or that they're overrated or this stupid 'they're a regular season team' crap. The Bulls made the ECF last year, that's not a regular season team. This year, I still think they make at least the ECF without Rose. Keep dreaming of the days when the .500 team takes down the team in the 1 or 2 spot, it simply doesn't happen. Memphis last year was 10 games over. Philly is 5 games under from February on. They aren't very good, even a Rose-less Bulls will win this series.

You're totally right. Let's just cancel the series. No point in taking the court with that thinking.

Obviously the Bulls are still favored in the series. No need to get all pissed off. But you're talking a lot of trash for a team that is playing the 8th seed. A team you are supposed to dispose of easily. Do you really need to motivate yourself that badly? I mean, I know you lost by far your best player, but you guys are still heavily favored. Relax man.

I agree with them being unable to make a shot, but honestly though, in the playoffs, you need someone who can create for themselves/others. The Bulls just do not have anybody that can do that. Dribble penetration is harder to come by too.

I think comparing the regular season to the playoffs too is tough. I mean, if the regular season told the truth, the Lakers would've beaten the Mavs last year with ease, the Bulls would've beat the Heat, etc.

This is probably the worst game Ive seen the Bulls play in the last few years. the 76ers have been very lucky as well. Even with Rose, we would have been crushed in this game if we played like this. Dude EVERY coach does this in the playoffs what are you talking about? The 76ers best players outside of Iggy (who was limping and was taken out because of injury concerns) were on the floor as well.

Its common place to leave your starters on the floor in the playoffs especially in the first couple games. Momentum is HUGE when you're playing a 7 game series against the same team.

Not winning the title is not failing? I guess you and bron have the same mindset

It's not, getting to the finals it's one of the most amazing accomplishment you can have, whether you win or lose it's another story. I guess you have never play sports, I understand why you see it that way.

You're one of the best Bulls fans around here so I think its okay to ask you this. Do you know why Rose wasn't on or near the bench?

Never was confirmed but, my guess was incase of diving players or any incidents. I am sure they also didn't want him to be bombarded with questions.

LOL at you clowns who said the Sixers would lose by 20+, be lucky to score 85, are the worst playoff team, etc, etc, etc.

You are in trouble Chicago.

It's over I miss rose.

Not everyone though this. In fact I think I said Chicago in 6 and that was before the Rose injury. I really didn't expect to sweep this series. You guys played great in the 2nd half and it is what it is.

Maybe he didnt want to be a distraction. That would be my guess.

Momentum never carries over from game to game. This is a known thing. That's why one game a team gets blown out by 20 or 30, and the next game, they can come back and win against the same team by making the proper adjustments.

The playoffs are about adjustments, not momentum.

I'll admit, I was the one who said they wouldn't score 85 against this Bulls defense.

Good game by the Sixers.

We really didn't look the same in the 3rd. They were making a mockery of the Bulls and it looked more like a globetrotters team.

The Big 3 in Miami didnt form to win Eastern Conference titles or division titles, they form to win championships. Last year was a failure. Every Heat fan knows that.

Considering that last year nobody thought we would beat Boston and Chicago, I would said NO.

We went to the finals, a lot of people were expecting us to lose in the second round.

I think it may be so he doesn't get to emotional or hyped up in the game and maybe hurt his knee. Like jumping up after a good play to give high fives etc...

It sucks but, we still have a very good team out there. I really don't feel bad for myself as a fan but, feel terrible for Rose himself. I can't imagine how that has to feel.

This series is shaping up to look good. Good luck the rest of the way.

Like I said a team led by CJ Watson and John Lucas is not a very good one, neither is a team that has Noah as the leading scorer. Iggy is gonna continue to shut down Deng and I dont see anyone on the Bulls being able to stop Holiday, Williams, and Turner.

Great game by my Sixers though! It's just one game, but it looks like we have a real shot to win the series now! At least it's going to be a good series though and not a sweep.

So pumped right now. That was awesome!

I feel like it is such a real comparison as well. You guys are a very capable team but, are forced to expect too much out of guys who just aren't built to do that high profile offensive play.

And trust me I can't speak for everyone but, after the Jordan era I know all too well how much you have to cherish what you have when you have it. That is the thing that is most depressing.

:speechless:

You can make all the adjustments in the world but if your team isn't up for it mentally at the end of the day they won't be able to execute on the basketball floor. If you think momentum doesn't carry over in games then you can't possibly be a fan of sports for very long or even played sports very much.

EVERY NBA player and former NBA player will tell you how huge momentum is from game to game in the post season.

I would love to see how credible all these "people" were. I really don't remember many people who didn't think this team would make it to the ECF and a ton more thought they would win it all.

You really are underselling the Heat cause ALLOT of people picked them to win last year.

A lot of people picked us to win at the start of the season but after losing to both Boston and Chicago in the regular season the predictions were that we would lose to both. Getting blowout in the 1st game of the playoff against Chicago didn't help either.

Or even a part of it for that matter. Evan has had his ups and downs but he is far from a bust and had he been handled in the right manner performances such as this would be considered the norm for him.

A lot of people made a big deal about ESPN ranking Kobe the 7th best player in the NBA before the season, but how about the guy they ranked as the WORST player? Lavoy Allen. All he's done this year is produce when given the opportunity, and his 11pts 9reb 2blk were huge tonight. Worst player in the NBA? Not even close.
