I wonder if he'll be out for game 3? Kinda a dumb move on his part, but I guess emotions were running high in the Knicks locker room.

EDIT: Amare is officially ruled out for game three and possibly the series.

Good one fool. Might want to work on expending a little more energy on the court so this doesn't happen.

On a side note, if he can't play the series (which will be their only series, and the main reason why you play the season) you'd hope that his contract has a stipulation that includes a massive, massive fine (5+ million would honestly be fair, although there's no way that's possible with this players union).

No matter how much you get paid, a death in the family is always hard.

I can understand self-inflicted mental pain like getting yourself in trouble with the law, which then, I have no pity for the player.

But a death in the family along with the deterioration of his health. Yeah, in someways, you have to look at the human being moreso than just the overpaid player.

I was unhappy with him for a while already. This is pretty much as bad as it gets though. The Melo and Amare experiment is over. He does not work well with our team. Melo, Stat, and Chandler cannot coexist on the floor at the same time and Stat can't play D and his contract sucks. Now he loses control of himself. I want him gone already but it will be hard to trade him. I wanted him traded for a while now actually since I knew it wouldn't work out. He is also nowhere as good as he used to be offensively.

STAT has been putting more effort into talking about being a leader and getting pissed after games than he has on the actual basketball court.... its so infuriating because he always says all the right things and never does any of them. I try to stick up for him, but his his act is making me sick lately.... all talk, no backing it up.

You forgot Shumpert and Lin... second year in a row the Knicks completely fall apart come playoff time... I know its funny to make the 12 straight losses joke, but thats 2 straight years their whole line up just collapses in the playoffs.

Honestly, not all that surprised he blew a gasket. He's had a ridiculous last year or so.

-Starts out playing like a MVP.
-Melo joins the team, creating spacing issues.
-Gets a serious back injury during the play offs, then is out rehabbing for months
-Comes back and there's basically no PG and they go on a massive losing record
-His brother dies
-Linsanity shows up, but when all 3 are back they go on another losing record
-D'Antoni resigns/is fired, a coach he's worked with most of his career
-Woodson takes over and they go on another winning streak, THEN he gets a bulging disk and is out ANOTHER month and rehabbing
-Lin tears his Meniscus (screwing up PG position again)
-They win a ton of games (18-6) but still can't get out of 7th
-In the very first game of the playoffs, they get blown out by 33, Shump gets knocked out for the season with a torn ACL, and Chandler gets the Flu
-They play decently in Game 2 and still lose by 10 to the Heat going down 2-0

It has to be an incredibly frustrating year for him. 2 playoffs basically wasted, and he HAS to know that his clock is ticking. He has a limited window to make a serious play off run, and a combination of timing plus bad luck is screwing him out of another year.

If I were him it would feel like the Gods were conspiring against me.

I don't really imagine him getting into a fight with a team mate, but I could easily see him leaning against a wall and banging his hand against the glass in frustration and it shattering (he is a VERY big guy).

And now he has lacerations, probably needs stitches, and we'll see if he can even play in game 3.

Tough year for the Knicks, but a really crappy 18 months for Amare.

May not be the smartest move, but I feel for the guy, $20m or not

The guy puts in effort in spurts... has noone to blame but himself. His running the other way from a wide open Chalmers taking a corner three defines Amar'e and is why the Knicks are not elite.

Knicks should blow it up, this current team isnt winning anything trade Melo and Amare. and Build around Lin, Chandler,Iman,Fields, Novak.

Cant believe Knick fans said nobody wants to play us in the first round.

No, you dont just blow up a team that went 36-30 in their first season together. And also went 18-6 during last 24 games under a brand new coach. And also who are playing withOUT their two best backcourt players (Lin-Shumpert) and an ailing Baron Davis. You let that team gel for another year and then decide what you are going to do.

I will admit though that Stat is looking like he's worthy of a trade.

Realize as a Knick fan I had to deal with us going at Boston without a healthy STAT and no Billups. Now a healthy HEAT squad without our starting backcourt Lin/Iman and STAT.

Pretty much wasted a good defensive squad.

STAT is basically a leftover from the D'Antoni regime, he was brought here to fit into a certain style of play which we don't play anymore. We are in the Melo era and we have every piece that fits Carmelo.

We simply won't get far with Amare as our Power Forward. Conflict of styles and he isn't good enough to sacrifice his game like Bosh or a Garnett. He showed signs of doing it but since he was out 6 weeks with that disc injury, he lost all focus of what he was building defensively.

Not sure what happens now but It's either bench or goner for Amare. I hate to say it but I think he will be heavily shopped this summer for a legit post player to fit this team.

I can understand self-inflicted mental pain like getting yourself in trouble with the law, which then, I have no pity for the player.

But a death in the family along with the deterioration of his health. Yeah, in someways, you have to look at the human being moreso than just the overpaid player.

I want him gone already but it will be hard to trade him. I wanted him traded for a while now actually since I knew it wouldn't work out. He is also nowhere as good as he used to be offensively.

Amare needs to learn to control himself, he has to channel his anger on the court, but i rarely see him bring it. Maybe he learns to do so after this incident and comes out a better player. I wouldnt mind doing that trade. I love a front court pair (Howard+Amare) that can do most of the scoring. Get them a good pick n roll PG (Nash, Andre Miller, Calderon, Felton, ect.) and defense+3pt shooting on the wings and ur pretty much set. Amare doesn't need to retire he can still score,he just doesn't fit well with Melo,he was having a MVP last season before Melo showed up.He just needs a new start.Like I said Orlando would be a nice landing spot because he would be the #1 scoring option, and have Dwight control the paint defensively.

Dumb move.

I knew Knick fans would get fed up with this guy. Nash made this guys career and even then Amare would get schooled in the western playoffs.

Nash made him better but he was still an offensive force without him. The only problem is that he is a shell of his former self and he never learned how to play defense. Nash or not you don't average 35 points against Tim Duncan in the playoffs without being a beast.

Such a fail if he has to miss game 3 because of it. Honestly, the Knicks need to retool that roster.

He did that in one series. Not to mention that was when he was 22 and before he had major knee surgery that threatened his career. My question is what was Nashs assist percentage in that series?

All I know is that Stat needs to get traded. He talks big but never shows the results.

he and the knicks were playing well without melo. remember last season when he revived the knicks. and during the linsanity he and lin were playing well together until melo came.

Dude is a bum. I am tired of him. Why doesn't he use some of that "effort and passion" playing some D and grabbing boards? Waste of 20m.

I used to cut for Amare, but this just about ends it....how lame of him......as if the Knicks weren't overmatched enough......is the Eastern conference trying to gift wrap a trip to the Finals for Miami???? Rose and Shrumpert hurt...and now Rondo and Amare acting like morons????

I made my feelings known in the Knicks forum thread...

However - it us worth repeating here.

Let me be clear: THERE IS NO EXCUSE

"This too shall pass" is the dumbest Tweet in the history of tweets.

He should voluntarily ask to have his contract reduced to make room for roster moves.

This will NEVER pass in NYC -- it will be one of those memories that he never ever lives down.

I have never hated on amare -- but i am through with him.

I get mad at things all the time that are equally as frustrating to me in my life -- but I never punch Glass and injure the part of my body that I get paid 100mm dollars to use.

ONE HUNDRED MILLION

Amare - you have ruined yourself in NYC forever to me

How can you sit there and say Dwight will have a bad back,at least let the guy come back after surgery and prove his worth.Dwight is a physical specimen and will work hard in the offseason to get back to 100%.

No way Orlando trades Dwight straight up for Amare.

There is NO reason a grown man should act like a 14 year old kid, his brother died that sucks but grown men with jobs cant go punching things at their jobs because their brother died. This guy is mad because he knows the rest of his career he might get 2 or 3 playoff wins at most and going to NY was a mistake. Three more years of zero defense and less athletic ability every year.

Jarvo

To be fair, with the rollercoaster season the Knicks have been having, his deteriorating health, and the recent death of his brother, life must be very tough for Amare.

I hope he gets it together mentally.

Exactly I feel for him and Odom.
