Patrick Corbin, LHP
0-0, -.-- ERA

Corbin will be making his Major League debut. He is taking the place of Josh Collmenter, who was sent to the bullpen. Corbin was impressive in Spring Training, and in his first four starts for Double-A Mobile, he had a 1.67 ERA.

Mark Buehrle, LHP
1-3, 2.63 ERA

All four of Buehrle's outings have been quality starts, yet the veteran has one win and three losses. Buehrle is coming off a tough setback at New York, giving up two runs in seven innings. He has never faced Arizona.

Jason Hammel, RHP
3-0, 1.73 ERA

He's probably been the Orioles' most effective starter this season. The right-hander beat Toronto in his last start, throwing seven shutout inningsg durin a 3-0 victory over the Jays on Wednesday.

Hiroki Kuroda, RHP
1-3, 4.38 ERA

Kuroda is coming off a sharp effort at Texas on April 24 in which he was outdueled by Yu Darvish, but Kuroda held his own with 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball against a tough lineup. He has had two sharp outings and two subpar ones as a Yankee.

Chris Volstad, RHP
0-3, 6.14 ERA

The Cubs flipped Volstad and Jeff Samardzija so Samardzija could get an extra day. Volstad is looking for his first win since July 10. In his last outing vs. the Cards, he was cruising until the sixth and then missed locating some of his pitches.

Vance Worley, RHP
2-1, 2.16 ERA

Worley gutted through six innings Tuesday in a victory over the D-backs at Chase Field. He allowed one run and five hits in six innings, but he had to work for it. But so far he is proving his 2011 rookie season is no fluke.

Luke Hochevar, RHP
2-1, 4.98 ERA

It appears Hochevar is finally fully recovered from the April 13 line drive he took on his left ankle against the Indians. He's made two starts since then and given up just three earned runs, but was still favoring the ankle.

Duane Below, LHP
2-0, 0.00 ERA

After a month of solid long relief that has Below tied for the team lead in wins, Below gets his first start of the year as the fill-in for Doug Fister. He gave up five earned runs on 11 hits over 9 2/3 innings in two starts last July.

Yu Darvish, RHP
3-0, 2.42 ERA

Darvish blanked the Yankees over 8 1/3 innings his last time out. He has allowed two earned runs in his last 24 innings and has a 1.50 ERA in two road starts. Opponents are 2-for-20 off him with runners in scoring position in his last three starts.

Kyle Drabek, RHP
2-1, 2.25 ERA

Drabek has gotten off to a fast start this season thanks in part to a revamped cut fastball that has led to impressive results. He's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his four starts this year, but still battles occasional control problems.

Tommy Milone, LHP
3-1, 2.00 ERA

Milone allowed three hits in eight shutout innings against the White Sox on Tuesday, and has allowed just one home run in 27 innings thus far this season.

Clay Buchholz, RHP
2-1, 8.87 ERA

Buchholz's changeup still appears to be missing in action and he hasn't turned in a through-and-through convincing start yet. His curveball and cutter were on point last time out.

James McDonald, RHP
0-1, 2.78 ERA

McDonald has battled inconsistency in the past, but will try to continue the best stretch of his young career. He has as many strikeouts (14) as hits allowed in 22 2/3 innings, and he is developing the confidence to pitch aggressively.

Mike Minor, LHP
2-1, 3.42 ERA

Minor has completed at least six innings in three consecutive starts and showed increased confidence since the start of Spring Training. The lefty has limited opponents to a .208 batting average in his past three starts.

Felix Hernandez, RHP
2-1, 2.48 ERA

There was some early concern about Hernandez's velocity, but he's been very sharp and is coming off a 9-1 win at Detroit when he needed just 92 pitches in seven innings of four-hit ball. He's 3-2 with a 2.42 ERA vs. Tampa Bay lifetime.

Jeremy Hellickson, RHP
3-0, 2.84 ERA

A Vernon Wells home run proved to be the only blemish on Hellickson's line Wednesday when he held the Angels to one run in six innings to earn his third win of the season in his second quality start. He is 3-0 lifetime vs. Seattle.

R.A. Dickey, RHP
3-1, 4.44 ERA

Closed roofs are typically good for knuckleballers; humidity is even better. Dickey should enjoy one or the other in Houston after battling chilly or damp conditions in his first three starts. He was 0-2 vs. the Astros last season.

Bud Norris, RHP
1-1, 5.84 ERA

Norris is coming off his poorest outing, giving up nine hits, seven runs and three home runs on Tuesday in Milwaukee. After two quality starts to start the season, he's allowed 11 runs in 13 2/3 innings.

Aaron Harang, RHP
1-1, 5.16 ERA

Harang fouled a pitch off the top of his left foot and the more it swelled, the worse he pitched against the Braves. X-rays were negative, but the Dodgers will be watching him closely to see if there are any lingering effects on that landing leg.

Juan Nicasio, RHP
1-0, 4.76 ERA

Nicasio allowed one earned run over 6 1/3 innings in Wednesday's no-decision vs. the Pirates, scattering nine hits while walking one and striking out five.

Randy Wolf, LHP
1-2, 7.17 ERA

Wolf was inconsistent in his first four starts but fared much better against the Astros last Tuesday. The southpaw allowed two earned runs on four hits, struck out four and walked four over six innings and earned his first victory of the season.

Joe Wieland, RHP
0-3, 4.76 ERA

Manager Bud Black said Wieland, 22, has looked more comfortable in each start. He allowed two runs in six innings against the Nationals in his third major-league start Wednesday. He gave up no runs in the first inning for the first time this season.

Nick Blackburn, RHP
0-2, 7.53 ERA

After missing a start with stiffness in his right shoulder, Blackburn allowed the Red Sox five runs over just three innings Tuesday. The right-hander said his shoulder felt just fine and blamed his poor outing on falling behind in counts.

C.J. Wilson, LHP
2-2, 2.42 ERA

The southpaw recorded 11 strikeouts in his last outing, in which he yielded two runs in seven innings but took the loss in a 3-2 defeat to Tampa Bay.

Jack of Blades
04-30-2012, 08:04 PM
Darvish is unreal so far.

04-30-2012, 08:21 PM
Oh look, another ****ing off day.

04-30-2012, 08:32 PM
Yu Darvish has been insane so far this year.

If the Angels offense can't get going off Minnesota pitching, then they are in trouble.

04-30-2012, 09:50 PM
How many unintentional intentional walks does kemp get vs the rockies?

04-30-2012, 11:02 PM
Darvish's off speed stuff may be the best in baseball. Yes I said it.

Drabek was good today, but Jays offense is non existent and I'm ready to say that Jose is going to have a terrible year.

04-30-2012, 11:29 PM
Not sure how Harang has made it as a big league pitcher. He is utter garbage.

long ball
05-01-2012, 12:13 AM
Braun has the first ever three homer game at petco

05-01-2012, 12:53 AM
Braun was amazing tonight. Definitely back to MVP form.

05-01-2012, 12:58 AM
The fact that Braun hit the first three homer game in Petco is all you need to know about how big that park is.

05-01-2012, 12:59 AM
Or how good the MVP is :)

05-01-2012, 01:24 AM
Braun was amazing tonight. Definitely back to MVP form.

05-01-2012, 01:27 AM
He has gotten MVP votes his first 5 years and put up MVP numbers each of those years, unlike your inconsistent guy that's only been voted for twice. Sounds like an MVP contender to me.

05-01-2012, 01:50 AM

hahaha gotcha

05-01-2012, 01:53 AM
Gotta stick up for my guy. Kemp has been good but he hasn't been a consistent player through his career. Should be an interesting race if Kemp comes back to earth, which he should when pitchers realize how to do it.

05-01-2012, 01:56 AM
I wasn't talking about how good of a player he is. It was the irony of your comment after the entire saga. "MVP form" was just funny after all that went down with the drug test and the highway robbery of Kemp in 2011.

Not arguing against Braun but it was a comment that was begging for someone to chuckle.

05-01-2012, 02:00 AM
And every player has a different time table. Kemp excelled a little later than Braun. Big deal. Still close to a .300 career hitter and is on another level as of now. I am willing to bet Kemp's peak years will exceed Braun's.

05-01-2012, 02:05 AM
They couldn't go wrong either way. I won't say he took something and I won't say he didn't. If he did and got away with it, he better learn from it. If he's really relying on it, he will decline pretty quickly or get caught and then he's got whatever comes to him. He's always been a consistent player so there's not any reason to doubt his ability because of something that came at the end of his 5th year and after multiple negative tests.
