Yu Darvish.......Kyle Drabek
3-0, 2.42 ERA........2-1, 2.25 ERA

Darvish blanked the Yankees over 8 1/3 innings his last time out. He has allowed two earned runs in his last 24 innings and has a 1.50 ERA in two road starts. Opponents are 2-for-20 off him with runners in scoring position in his last three starts.

Drabek has gotten off to a fast start this season thanks in part to a revamped cut fastball that has led to impressive results. He's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his four starts this year, but still battles occasional control problems.

Neftali Feliz...........Drew Hutchison
1-1, 3.00 ERA.........1-0, 6.10 ERA

Feliz will start for the first time since going up against Detroit's Justin Verlander on April 21. He pitched an inning in relief on Wednesday, allowing a home run. He has 14 strikeouts and eight walks in 21 innings.

Hutchison, who has made just two career starts in the Majors, allowed two runs on six hits in his last outing against Baltimore. Toronto's top pitching prospect previously made three starts in Double-A this season and posted a 2.16 ERA.

Matt Harrison..........Ricky Romero
3-1, 3.38 ERA...........3-0, 3.18 ERA

Harrison allowed a career-high 14 hits in Friday's 8-4 loss to Tampa Bay. The last Major League pitcher to allow that many hits was Mark Buehrle last September. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak for Harrison going back to last year.

Romero, 3-0, pitched into the seventh inning in his last start and allowed just two earned runs but walked away with a no-decision. The lefty has gotten off to a strong start, sporting a 3.16 ERA while holding opposing batters to a .193 average.

Darvish heads to Toronto -- with the Rangers

Yu Darvish is coming to Toronto, but not in the way many expected.

The Japanese right-hander will start for the Rangers on Monday night when the club opens a three-game series against Kyle Drabek and the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. The outing comes a little more than four months after Texas' bid of $51.7 million won a secret auction for negotiating rights with the former Nippon Professional Baseball League star.

A barrage of rumors leading up to the conclusion of the bidding process linked the Blue Jays to Darvish. Some erroneous reports in the final days even claimed that Toronto had submitted the high offer.

Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos never has confirmed nor denied whether his club made a bid. In fact, his policy is never to comment on interest in free agents, and Anthopoulos said he has "just become numb" to rumors appearing in the media.

"I just accept it," he said. "This is just part of the way we do things. These are the unfortunate things that are going to happen. There are other components that I'm trying to work through, as well, from a strategy standpoint -- negotiations, trades. We read what every other club is quoted as saying. We try to use that to our advantage. I think clubs do the same with us."

Other teams apparently believed the Blue Jays were targeting Darvish.

"I had a GM ask me about the Darvish scenario before it was done," Anthopoulos said. "I said I don't see us being really big on free agents, fitting everything into our payroll and so on. I think the comment was, 'You're a worse sandbagger than I am.' I'm not sandbagging. That's just the way it is."

Darvish has started 3-0 with a 2.42 ERA in his first four outings and is coming off his best effort on Tuesday against the Yankees. Pitching in Texas, he threw 8 1/3 shutout innings, allowing seven hits and two walks while striking out 10.

"It depends on the team," Darvish said of his game-to-game adjustments. "Every team is different. The umpires are different, and the strike zone is different. It also depends on the ballpark. Every ballpark right now is a first time for me. I have to experience everything. I'm not just learning the players. I'm understanding the atmosphere and I'm able to control my emotions."

True to form, Anthopoulos wouldn't reveal much about his early impressions of Darvish.

"It's early. We're not really scouting him. He's not a guy I expect to be available in trades," he said with a smile. "I've just seen the highlights and you see the stats like everyone else. Sounds like he had an unbelievable game against New York.

"But other than that, it's just three weeks into the season, four weeks into the season, the same way if you were to ask me about Albert Pujols. We're just not really scouting him now."

Rangers: A hot April for Hamilton
Through Sunday, outfielder Josh Hamilton had slugged nine home runs, tying a club record for April, previously set by four other players. Ian Kinsler was the last, in 2007.

With a game remaining to take the record for himself, Hamilton was leading the American League in home runs and RBIs (25). But after encountering back stiffness during Sunday's game, he may not get the opportunity.

Nelson Cruz's 2012 has been much quieter. The outfielder was stuck in a 3-for-23 skid through Saturday and went 2-for-4 on Sunday, raising his average to .247. Cruz has hit one home run and driven in six since April 9.

Blue Jays: Drabek bouncing back
The rebound from a rough 2011 continued on Wednesday for Drabek, who took the loss in Baltimore, but still held the Orioles to two runs on five hits in six innings.

After posting a 6.06 ERA in the Majors and a 7.44 mark at Triple-A Las Vegas last season, Drabek has limited the opposition to two earned runs or fewer in all four of his 2012 starts.

But while he has surrendered 18 hits in 24 innings, his strikeout-to-walk ratio is only 18-to-13. With Toronto last season, Drabek walked more batters than he struck out.

Blue Jays starters have lasted at least five innings in 24 consecutive outings, going back to Sept. 27 of last season. That's the team's longest streak since a 27-start run in 2007 and the second-longest current streak in the Majors behind the White Sox (27).

Worth noting
Drabek has made one career start against the Rangers -- last April 25 in Texas. He gave up three earned runs on five hits in six innings to pick up the win.

The Rangers are in the middle of a 25-game stretch against non-division opponents. Their next AL West contest is against the Angels on May 11.

Also hoping for one win.

All three games are going to be interesting. I am worried about the recent hitting woes the Blue Jays have gone through combined with facing one of the best hitting clubs in the majors right now. Dont get me wrong, our starters are doing well, but this is their test.

This is test #2 for the Blue Jays...How well will they fare against the best team in the Majors (so far)??

For the record, test#1 was their home stand against Boston, Baltimore and Tampa.

Looking forward to seeing Yu Darvish tonight, wondering if he was worth all the hype he was granted. Drabek is going to need to be on his A-game tonight.

The past 3 season or so we've really played well against the Rangers and I don't expect that to change this season. I say we take 2/3 with both Drabek and Romero winning their starts.

I have the Rangers winning 2 of 3 here. I see Romero grinding through his start to get the win and help us avoid the sweep.

I'm also sitting Drabek on my fantasy team tonight. He hasn't shown me enough for me to be confident starting him against the best offense in baseball. I hope I'm wrong though

We just won 2, so we'll lose the first two games of the series and win the third. I took Rangers to win 2 of 3. Unless the pattern stays on 4 games in which case we win the first two and lose the third, followed by 3 straight losses to the Angels.

i think we'll be lucky to win 1 game this series.. Our starters have been getting it done but they have yet to face and offense like the Rangers. We have had a problem giving up the HR and the Rangers get them in bunches. If our pitchers continue to pitch the same way (high walks, Low Ks) and the DPs dry up, we are gonna get hammered.

As for the offense, this is the first time all year that we are facing 3 above average pitchers in a series. We are probably gonna have to score 5+ runs a game to be competitive against the Rangers and nothing in our play suggest we can do that

HURRY , call up CECIL! or trade for Brad Mills!

The Rangers suck donkey balls vs soft tossing lefties lol

Anyways, I say if we win one we'll consider ourselves lucky.

The first one tonight will definitely be a tough one, hopefully the Jays will atleast keep it close seeing as it is on ESPN.

2nd game I'd give the Rangers better odds but I could still see the Jays winning, its not out of the possibility that we knock around Feliz.

The finale I'd say the Jays have a great shot, Romero > Harrison

Ill give Lind his chances. He has been nothing but great against the Rangers for the past seasons. If he fail the first game i say bump him down. But for now we have to go with the numbers if it says he is great vs the team continue with it. Ill say we get 1 of 3 but will not be surprise to see 2 of 3

they definitely have the edge with their pitchers and bullpen.. and the offense isn't even close. Our offense is definitely not heating up. We barely got any runs off some mediocre to terrible starters in the Seattle series

Lind is still batting clean up!!!!

I agree with you, John Farrell has to stop this "lefty then righty then lefty then righty" mentality and put his best two hitters right next to each other. EE has shown that he can actually hit the ball this year, so put him and Jose Bautista next to each other. If youre good a enough hitter, you can defeat good pitching regardless of whether the pitcher is left handed or right handed.

if Romero and Drabek allow more than 3 runs, we are likely losing.. i have no confidence in our offense what so ever..

Escobar is terrible
Johnson walks and gets stranded by Bautista
Lind is still terrible
Thames is hot but he isn't that good
Lawrie has been very ordinary all year
Rasmus shows up once in a while and JPA is the same thing

we just dont have enough weapons to compete with the Rangers..

Kinsler, Hamilton, and Beltre are enough to beat us and we aren't even mentioning Cruz and Napoli

This series is what you call real test. We've played mediocre baseball this season so far. If the jays have what it takes to compete, they would dial it up a notch and they would rise up to this challenge. Otherwise, they would play the way they've played so far this season and get swept, maybe they get lucky and get one. That being said, GO JAYS! PLAY BALL :D
