crazy. and it wasn't like they were up 27 in the middle of the 2nd quarter and choked it. They were up 27 IN THE 3RD QUARTER:facepalm:

memphis should of just sat down with the ball and run 24sec shot clock the last 7 minute when they made the 27-1 run. and they still would of won by 10+

This is not the first time this has happen to us remember last year leading by 18 OKC beat us in triple over time.

This year we had a 20 point lead on the lakers lost in double overtime ect ect ect..

It has something to do with Hollins.

wow. i'm soo pissed i missed this right now! i turned it off with 1 min left in the 3rd quarter lol.

I hated his rotations today in the 4th. Also I'm sorry, but Speights was clearly outplaying Zbo today. Why not stick with Speights? Didn't get that move by Hollins

Biggest 4th quarter comeback in NBA playoff history of 22 points. Previous high was 21 by Celtics against the Nets in 02. As I pointed out before.. Grizzlies regularly have these HUGE scoring lulls. Went 8 minutes without a bucket to end game.

BTW Clippers led the league this year in games won when being down double digits. So they do have a knack for it.

I'm not proud of how they played. I'm VERY proud of the win though. Proud of the resilience of this team that I didn't think they had. Largest 4th quarter comeback in NBA playoff history and you're downplaying it?. Historic night... I hope you're being sarcastic. Nothing this special has ever happened to us in the playoffs. Had nice 06 run... but nothing unique about it like this night. Nothing that will be in the record books for a while.

Chronz
04-30-2012, 01:38 AM
These arent really records you want to attain, obviously its not as bad as being the team who lost but being down so much isnt something to take pride in. A better victory would have been us dictating the game and winning comfortably ala LAL.

Resilience? LOL facts are if the other team doesnt give us the game we dont win. It reveals more strength to win comfortably, thats a victory I would be proud of. This was an awesome experience but take your emotions away for a second and realize what it took to win, it took an epic collapse.

How did that Celtics-Nets series turn out for the C's? Record books mean nothing, Id rather be the team that doesnt have to rely on flukes.

Agree to disagree. I'm completely willing to say Memphis gave away game. Anytime a team is up that much and loses they gave it away. That being said... had the Clippers not shot themselves in the foot so bad early on we wouldn't have needed that comeback. These games were supposed to be even/competitive.

You're okay with disregarding this comeback but not disregarding Memphis hitting a franchise record 12 or 13 threes to even build that lead? Has any team ever held CP3 to 1 point in the first half? Griffin to 2? I mean.... the flukes go both ways. Enjoy being a part of history bro.

Can't be mad at Clippersfan though, Clippers showed heart. Grizzlies aint ready with epic choke jobs like that. That was just a first round game 1 at HOME, you think they could handle the finals?

valade16
04-30-2012, 01:54 AM
As many pointed out it takes a lot of heart to comeback from that much down. Having played many sports and games and primarily being down by tons in most of them, I can say that even if the other team starts to play like crap you still have to play hard to get back in the game.

And that's exactly what the Clippers did. Props to them.

They were flukish, but we werent fighting at all in the beginning and we gave up open shots, they were atleast forcing us to suck. When your gameplan is to go under screens and you get burned its not as big of a fluke as a team thats been winning all game to have the biggest dry spell of all time. They got too comfortable, plain and simple. They lost this game more than we won it.

I enjoyed the win, its the greatest victory Ive ever experienced but moving forward we have to correct this, in all reality we should have lost, anytime I have to say those words Im not comfortable with the victory.

WOW LOL THAT WAS BAD!! They fell apart! Omg im kinda mad cuz i was watching the game but it was so boring that i pretty much zoned out. thought it was over. looked up and it was down to 12. Didnt think much of it and zoned out again and looked up after nick young hit that 3rd three and all of a sudden it was down to 3!! I was like WTF when did this all happen?!?!?!?!? lol oh man I wish i could rewatch that lol

Oh I see what you mean. Don't worry I'm not using this game as an example of something to come or anything. I agree 100 percent there was A LOT of bad in this game that should be pointed out. I'm just wanting to enjoy the miracle I just witnessed. Honestly all of this game besides 7 minutes left in 4th till end was bad by the Clippers. Vinny obviously didn't have this team prepared AT ALL.

Memphis on the other hand came out with a brilliant gameplan thanks to Hollins. They shutdown our stars AND scored at will because they knew how weak our perimeter D/rotations are. That being said I can promise they won't have 10+ threes next game. They are one of the worst 3 point shooting teams in NBA.

i think you guys are arguing two sides of the same coin.

enjoy it as a fan. it's not the "best" win, but it was a damn good time and you can derive some positives regarding persistence from the clips. i'll put it this way, a bad team wouldn't have made that comeback. it means -something-.

i agree with chronz though that the team can't get caught up in how the win felt. and that it means nothing in the big picture. there is truth to both sides of this.

Fair enough. I do agree with Chronz in that respect for sure. This is NOT something you ever want to repeat again, getting down nearly 30 in a playoff game.

BTW guys... it was actually a 24 point comeback in 4th. The record isn't about score at start of 4th (which also happens to tie Celtics record of 21 points). It's deficit in 4th PERIOD in a playoff game.

Butler has been very mediocre since all star break. Clippers have so much firepower they should be fine. I'd honestly start K-Mart at 3 for his D and rebounding but they will be starting Nick Young.

That's bad news for the Grizz, Nick Young is ridiculous, Certified Thunder and Grizzlies killer.

That is what good teams do .

faq! I turned it off at the beginning of the 4th writing the clips off. Figured sleep was more important than a 20-point blowout. Goes to show you anything can happen.

I didn't see the game, but it isn't good if your team is getting blown out by 27 in a playoff game. And it is equally not good if you let a team come back from down that many pts in a playoff game. Looks like 2 teams that have issues and adjustments that need to be made.
