Carmelo shot 1-10 on jumpers yesterday. 1-2 vs. Battier, 0-1 vs. Miller, 0-7 vs. LeBron.

I expect melo to have a better game tomorrow.

If I'm a Knicks fan, I'm more worried with the fact that my starters shot 9-33 than worrying about the refs. They gotta get back to doing what they do best. They gotta play more aggressive and EARN those trips to the FT line. They can't turn the ball over 24 times. They can't, most obviously, shoot 36% from the field. You can blame anyone and everyone but the team itself, but in the end, the Knicks just have to play better. They got WAXED...and it was far more widespread than FT attempts.

They gotta regroup, focus on ball protection, defense and ball-movement, and play a smarter game.

Not sure how they're gonna defend Wade and LeBron now. Those two shot 18-27 on Friday...and scored 51 points combined. That's just insane...and with Shump out, I can't see how that amazing efficiency doesn't continue.

Obviously, Tyson playing 35+ minutes will help, but only so much. Not sure how they can steal more than a game at this point.

Why do we need an excuse? The heat are the 2nd seed while the Knicks are the 7th. Every higher seed has won the first game with the exception of magic and clippers( which u can say Memphis and l.a record are virtually identical). You guys almost forget that the HEAT are supposed to win

AKAYaReal
04-30-2012, 12:23 PM
Knicks played bad as a whole game 1, no excuses about it. This game I expect a different fire and a better understanding that it is a 48min game and you dont have to try to win it in 5mins by putting up bad shot after bad shot.

They mentally lost that game long before it was over but this is the great part of a 7 game series, you can make up for mistakes made in game 1 of the series.

I see the refs officiating this very tightly and fairly. If the Knicks lose to fair officiating then it's not a big deal, it's if there is biased calls on top of the fact that the HEAT are better is the prob. I still think the Knicks are toast in the 2nd game. I simply don't like Carmelo and amare out at the same time

After game 1, someone needs to step up for NY and make Lebron work harder on D. They need to post Anthony on him and make Lebron work so he slows his offensive production down. He took over the game by himself.

I think Woodson needs to go with what he knows works. Amare needs to spot up outside and Chandler needs to be on the weak side of the paint so Melo can get some easier looks from closer at the basket.

I don't expect another blowout. I think NY will take care of the ball and slow down the game. I think they need to work harder at keeping James and Wade out of the paint. If you get beat from James and Wade hitting 3s and long 2s, then there's nothing to do. But you can't let those 2 beat you by getting to the basket and drawing fouls.

Complaining about officiating and hoping for certain refs to officiate certain games is such weak sauce... I'm sure officiating really had everything to do with the 33 pt smackdown.

Now if you're a Celtics fan and you're upset about that last minute call that could've changed the outcome of the game, or if you're a Grizzlies fan and you're upset about the Tony Allen call on Chris Paul to put the clips up, I feel you. But to complain about LeBron or others flopping is pure denial that your team just isn't any good. But keep it up, you only have another few more days to be relevant until the Knicks get swept yet another time. Congratulations.

MIAMI is a much better team than the Knicks... Most people had them getting swept maybe stealing 1 game. Is it so hard to fathom the poor officiating in the second quarter led to the Knicks losing all composure, allowing Miami to balooon the lead to 30? Obviously the refs aren't the sole reason the Knicks lost, but they did contribute greatly.

It isn't just Knick fans; players and anylists are disgusted as well. With the amount of talent on Miami and the way that quarter was officiated, historically great teams would'nt have beat Miami, let alone the lowly Knicks.

04-30-2012, 02:28 PM
I'd expect the Knicks to get a win based off of the amount of big market media pressure put on the NBA, but the fact is the Knicks haven't won a playoff game in over a decade.

If you switch the Heat's FTMs and the Knicks, the Heat still win by about 15.

Dunno how they figure that the refs were the reason they lost, but that is probably the same reason they haven't been a good team in over a decade (they never look in the mirror and hold themselves accountable).

But then again, it wouldn't be the first time they've made some outrageous claims (they're world famous for that).

new haberstroh article
Spoelstra might seem overly insistent on attackers and shooters playing off each other, but that's because the coach has seen the numbers. According to NBA.com stats tool, the Heat score 108.9 points per 100 possessions with James, Wade and Bosh on the floor. But when Battier joins them, that number rises to 114.9 points. And when Miller plays next to the Big Three? Miami's offensive efficiency skyrockets to a mind-boggling 125.9 points per 100 possessions.

I'd understand your argument if it was the 4th quarter.

But this was the 2nd quarter. The refs took the Knicks out of the game completely. I don't know if you noticed, but the Knicks were defeated in that 32-2 run (or whatever it was) in the 2nd quarter. After that, they didn't bring anything. They couldn't do anything consistently...but it was because of the 2nd quarter.

The best part about it is the HEAT fans see nothing wrong about what happened on Saturday. It's like this is every game for them, there was nothing different. Yet, every other fan, NBA players, and NBA commentators all saw the refs, Lebron, and the rest of the HEAT make a mockery out of the NBA.

It's sad really but there's nothing we can really do except hope for better officiating for the rest of the series. Not saying the Knicks win either way, but I would like to see a fair game and I bet it would be much more entertaining.

I understand we played like absolute ****, but how can you even say that? If everything went to hell in the 2nd quarter, how could you say the entire game would of gone exactly the same as it did.

I'm saying we got screwed in the 2nd quarter, and the ****** play just got worse and worse. But if you demoralize a team like that then what do you expect? You have no idea if it would of been a blowout or not so don't say it as if it definitely would of happened. Yea you guys played alot better then us, but we had nothing to play for after that joke of a 2nd quarter.

Knicks will come out very strong and aggressive most likely. It's a home game, and nearly all teams come out very strong after being blown out.

That said, I'm honestly not sure the Knicks have enough of a team left to win this one.

Lin - (starting PG) Out
Shumpert - (teams best on ball defender) Out

Chandler (best Center/defender on team) - Playing, but just recovering from the flu. His fever just broke, he was on an IV before and after game 1, and ate solid food for the first time in 2 days today. Definitely won't be 100%.

Davis - Back is messed up. When he went out at the end of the 2nd quarter, it tightened up and he wasn't able to return to the game. Definitely won't be 100%.

Jeffries (team's 2nd or 3rd best on ball defender) - Ongoing knee problems. He stated earlier in the season that his knee would require surgery in the off season. Limping during game 1.

Bibby - Beat up. Was limping during game 1 and playing poorly all season.

STAT - Will be his 6th game back after a 4 week layoff due to bulging disk and was only just getting back into form before the bulging disk after a very long layoff due to back injury.

PG is very weak right now, with Davis unable to give much more than 20 or 25 minutes per game at less than 100%. Bibby is a shadow of himself. Tony Douglas is awful (will most likely see JR or Fields picking up PG responsibilities).

On ball defense is going to be super weak with Shumpert out and Jeffries limping. That basically leaves nobody to cover Wade for any prolonged period of time.

It's possible the Knicks can still win, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they lost. It will take a very good game from both Melo and STAT, and some inspired defense by Chandler to make this game competitive.

There's a reason the NBA changed all 3 of the refs for tonights game, something they never do. Atleast 2/3 refs stay for game 2, not this series though, that's how bad they were in game 1. Any Heat fan that says they would've still blown us out is delusional. Melo was playing like crap and we were still down 1-3 pts in the 2nd quarter before the whistle-a-thon started. 32-2 run, ovee 28 FT's in the first half, 20 of them coming in the 2nd quarter.

Which as obvious by the 50 different complaining about refs thread made by knick fans in the last 2 days show they did.

Now who wants to bet that now when they lose today and eventually the series even if the calls are more even. They will claim something like....

"Game 1 the heat cheated so much it demoralized our players and we couldnt recover to win any games because of it, if it werent for the refs cheating we might have won cause melo would have eventually started making shots and Shumperts confidence would have been higher therfor he wouldnt have gotten injured and he would have locked down lebron even though he scored almost 30 pts in like 3 quarters. and and and we would have eventually won the Championship cause lin was coing back and he would have made us unbeatable but none of that happened cause the refs cheat god i hate the nba anits rigid cause my team didnt get calls and the other team did "

NY might take one at home but I don't see much hope anymore for them in this series.

so basically what happend in game one minus a few bad calls. and maybe a handful of less FTs by us but same result a 10pt + victory that starts off close (as most games do) then eventually the superior team pulls away not because a few bad calls "demoralized" a team and thats what didnt allow them to come back, but because of their horrible decison making leading to TO's and their lack of offense against a superior defense and of course a shakey team defense at best.

Too logical to make sense are you sure your not a referree posting as a suns fan? Cause the league is rigid you know and anyone who doesnt agree has to be a heat fan who just joined or a knick hating referee. I think the NBA should investigate PSD!!!

I know Game 1 was bad but any Knicks fan who was planning on our team advancing by sweeping the Heat must be insane.

Realistically, the only way the Knicks advance is if they take care of their Home Court and steal one game in Miami. Thats the only logical scenario in which the Knicks advance.

So instead of crying about the Refs or panicking over such a substantial blowout, its time the Knicks look at things rational and realize we still have three other potential games in Miami that we can steal.

Lets hope Melo goes off tonight with some Discount Double Check love as well. If not go Home and take care of the Garden and protect our Home floor.

Like I said I fully expected the Heat to hammer us once, no lets capitalize on our "Puncher's Chance" and punch back tonight.

Melo drops 40 tonight, Knicks win 93-88.

wait what did regggie say?

Basically how pathetic LeBron is for calling guys like Magic asking them for advice...specifically about winning. AKA picking people's brains and trying to get better.

Hey, Reggie! Please bless us with your infinite wisdom about winning rings...oh...

Knicks gotta put the Heat defense on their toes. Way too much jump shooting and perimeter shooting. ATTACK!

You want the FT numbers to be closer to equal...well, earn them.

Granted, there was one play there where the refs could have blown the whistle. But every trip to the line by the Heat so far has been 100% legit.

It sucks that people care more about the officiating than the games. So sad. So so so sad.

wait what did regggie say?

Sager reported that during the lockout, LeBron tried reaching out to MJ, Bird, Magic, Isaiah and Hakeem to pick apart their brains to see what he was doing wrong. Only Hakeem and Magic reached back (due to the lockout).

Reggie was basically saying that LeBron left CLeveland to join Wade and Bosh. How much more help does he need. All those guys figured it out on their own and did it their own way. They didn't have to ask their predecessors on how to win a championship.

That was basically Reggie's main criticism.

Idiots, Miami has had 3 fouls called on them and NY has 2. They are allowing some contact both ways. Calm down you little girls.

i have no problem with the officiating at all thus far. Sure maybe Melo could have gotten a call or two... but nothing major.

WS/48 in the playoffs. Reggie Miller .180. LeBron James .227. Maybe Reggie should've sought out some advice.

My twitter timeline GOING IN on Reggie right now

What amazingly stupid comments though, in all seriousness.

No, I enjoy seeing Knicks fans are as soft as Melo who just settles for jumpers. Knicks fans are not any different. Making excuses already...SMH...

Look they called a foul. Amazing what happens when anthony actually drives. Maybe that is the reason there was a huge discrepancy in game 1. The face that anthony settled all night for jumpshots instead of attacking like the HEAT do.
