The Angels have called up Mike Trout.

Mike Scioscia and GM Jerry DiPoto say he "will play".

He's up and he's up for good. I can't wait to see this kid play everyday. This is exactly what the Angels need.

Cleveland wanted Abreu and probably would have paid around $2M, now we get to pay the whole thing. We haven't made a single wrong move yet, hooray!

Bourjos for a strong middle reliever.

Bourjos isn't going anywhere. He may be sent to AAA for a reliever. Or he'll take a bench role and start two or three times a week for Wells/Hunter as well as pinch-running duties.

I'd like to keep him, but where is our bullpen held gonna come from? From guys we already got?

good for Trout, played against him in HS.. still comes back to town during the off-season and a genuinely good guy. As for Bourjos ,he has a ton of value but i doubt they trade him!

Jerry will trade Callaspo for a reliever. Possibly to the Phillies or Athletics.

Are Vernon and his $20M going to the bench or what?

Didn't realize how brutal Abreu has been the past few years. Guy was a dominant player for a very long time and extremely under-rated.

hoping he carries on Tim Salmon's long tradition of fishy blue chippers in anaheim. is abreu doa at this point or will someone kick the tires?

Not sure why anyone would, he's gotten progressively worse over the past 5 years and has been horrible the past 2. Age has clearly gotten the best of him. At the same time, Omar Visquel managed to make the Jays by some miracle. Only as a utility player though. I wouldn't want my team giving Abreu regular AB's. Corner outfielders are just do damn easy to find and replace.

I never liked that guy as a Phillie. I was glad to see him go. I believe Bobby getting traded changed the entire character of the Phillies. It became Utley & Rollins' team at that point.

That said, my kids have an Abreu jersey. We picked it up on discount the moment he was traded. :)

yeah thats kinda what i figured. lets just say i don't think bobby would be the inspirational club house presence, not that he is a bad guy but hardly a motivator or role model.

There's nothing wrong with Abreu he's just a complimentary piece to a good team. However, on the Phillies, he was the best player and he acted and was treated like a top player in the game. That's what the problem was.

I'd welcome him back on the team in a heart beat.

That post made me laugh, and I haven't had a baseball related laugh in a week. :DThe same thing happened when Pete Rose came to town. He jump started the team and along with Dallas Green, changed the entire character of it.

I seriously never understood the hate for Abreu. Guy was an awesome player in PhillyIf you're all about numbers, sure. Perhaps if they brought in a Pete Rose style veteran during his era, it would have been different for him. The problem was it was his team alone after Rollen left.

I was fair. I hated Kevin Millwood more. :)

I think someone will pick him up. They only have to pay him the minimum and he still can get on base at a decent rate. He wouldn't be a bad flyer for someone looking for a bench player.
