Good one. I'm sure that's exactly what the Knicks mentality is right now.

Knicks in 6. Mobb Deep too serious. Melo best player in the series (And yes I'm being a homer. **** you if you don't like it).

Shump is going to be a thorn in Wade's side and force him into some tough shots.

You already know what 'bron 'bron does in big spots.

Tyson is going to **** on anyone who comes in the paint.

Novak is going to be hitting threes from the lockeroom. JJ drawing charges on errbody.

Bosh is going to kill Stat but I can live with that.

Honestly though, should be a great, tough, hard-fought series. I really believe the Knicks have what it takes to beat them. Hopefully they prove me right.

KNICKS IN SIX

Split first two games.

Knicks win both home games.

Miami wins game five.

Knicks close it out.

People are way underestimating the Knicks. Under Woodson the Knicks finished the season winning 75% of their games which is better than Miami in that stretch. Knicks have a top 5 defense. Knicks have a lot of weapons and a better bench, especially since STAT seems healthy now.

I know it might be tough for you Heat fans, but here is some math:

Baron Davis + Rest = Nails in Miami's Coffin

Knicks win in not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, but SIX GAMES!!

Champions Up!! and Front running Chokers Down!!!

The Miami HEAT could sweep the Knicks and win every game by 30 points, and if they don't win the championship will still be looked at as failures.

So I hope Miami fans don't waste time with the back and forth with NY fans as a series win doesn't mean a lot in the big picture of what the HEAT's goal is. Miami just needs to win the series, stay healthy, and get ready for the next round.

Stinkyoutsider

This is the biggest first round series in the playoffs this year. The matchups have stars at almost every position. I'm taking the Heat but this is going to be a tough series...

I think the Knicks have an opportunity to do a great deal of damage to the Heat's title hopes if Chandler can keep James and Wade out of the paint and the Knicks limit turnovers (fast breaks for the Heat). Make this a half court series and the series is almost even.

Knicks have the better bench but the Heat have the best player.

When your team leader says "not 1... not 2... not 3", you kinda set yourself up for failure. They built the team to win multiple rings. If you guys don't win it this year, time to start worrying.

Everything screams a Miami win in this series and being the 2 seed they should right?

Miami if they can get out and run, will win this series in 6. If LeBron brings his "A" Game everynite and finishes, Miami in 5

If New York can play smart Woodson basketball and JR Smith contributes I believe the knicks can shock the heat, but in seven games.

I said in another thread yesterday that if I had a ton of money on this series with even odds, I would bet Miami. But as a NYK fan, and seeing what woodson (18-6) has done with a group of very talented players, my heart screams NEW YORK. With trepidation!

We finally have a healthy BD and Stat, Melo has been playing out of this world, Tyson is arguably the best C in the Playoffs, we are one of the best defensive teams in the league, our bench depth is ridiculous.

I don't see how you can say this going to be a quick series.

Whatever though. We will see soon enough.

Knicks in 6

this right here. Melo has LBJ number and the Knicks are not a real 7 seed, this match up is very close. Either Knicks in 6 or they fall apart at the end of games and Miami wins earlier. But my bet is that NYK will "upset" Miami

Captain Moroni
04-27-2012, 01:56 PM
At 18-6 under Woodson, the Knicks changed so many things from the illbegotten dantoni era.

1. carmelo Anthony turned into carmelo anthony again. This is not to be overlooked. Melo was sickly bad all year long as a spot up safety valve in the speedball Era. than taking a backseat to Jeremy Lin was a joke. Those days are gone.

2. The 18-6 record will be called a "Streak" or Lucky run" by some, but in reality it came after a coaching change and amid the toughest part of the Knicks schedule. Beating teams like Indy twice, Orlando (Before Howard went down, twice) Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, LAC, Philly, This team even stayed in games they lost agaist the Heat and Bulls all without their starting PG and PF. The Knicks best chance may lie in the fact that people look at their record and underestimate them.

3. Mobdeep- the Knicks bench is very very good. JR Smith has quietly become quite the scoring machine and played great defense. Steve Novak had an unbelieveable season shooting the three and a surprise on defense, Jared Jefferies if healthy is a great defender who can come in and really deny the ball. Fields or shumpert whoever doesnt start can amp up the second unit.

4. melo and Chandler are quietly becoming quite the two headed monster in the startig unit. I think Stat should come off the bench, but if he can guard Bosh at all, this series could go seven.

I know this series seems lke a slam dunk to alot of fans, but for those of us who have watched the Knicks complete 180 turnaround these last 6 weeks, dont count your chickens because the eggs havent cracked yet.

Htownballa1622
04-27-2012, 01:57 PM
Haha I thought so too. :D

what you said was nice. IF the knicks played 100% and everything went right all series, then SOME of these things can happen.

but

the chances of this ALL happening in the same series isn't likely. not a knock on new york...

i think it'll be a good series.

18-6 would come out to 50-16 over the season. I know the idea of this is foolish, but my point is that if the knicks could have played this type of basketball from the get go, would people take them more seriously?

If the Knicks come out next year and play this type of game and finish with 60 wins, would people be talking about them in a more respectful way?

NYflightboy

It's going to come down to LeBron and Bosh. Wade is going to be stuck on Shumpert's island.

That's not entirely accurate. Shump WILL play him tough but D Wade is going to school him now & then. He's not going to completely shut him down. But I think Shump will keep him frustrated for the most part.

I'm really hoping Stat is completely back. If he is it's going to be really tough to stop us.

Typical Miami fans thinking it'll be easy. I think Miami wins in 7. But Miami should be concerned

1) Since Woodson took over, Knicks are averaging 100 ppg and giving up 93 ppg
In that span, Miami is only averaging 93 and allowing 90 ppg
2) Miami is only 18-15 on the road
3) Miami gave up the most 3 pointers in the league.
4) Knicks bench is much better
5) Knicks biggest weakness is rebounding, Miami also doesn't rebound that well
6) Miami is 0-5 in April when they're held to less than 10 fast break points

If Miami gets transitions points easily, they'll win
If they don't, Knicks will win

1-Now that stat is back i dont even look at those numbers, your team was scary with melo at the 4 and stat not playing.
2-miami has home court and will win one in NY, NY is 14-19 on the road lol
3-cool, if you guys want to chuck 3's all day and lets us start our fast break that way, be my guest.
4-no its not much better. there will always be one of the big 3 on the court and most likely 2 of them now what they will be playing 38+min each.
5-miami rebounds just fine.
6-3 of those games were recent when the big 3 sat.

Bottom line knicks have to play out of their minds to make this thing go 6. I stick with my prediction, heat in5

Miami rested Wade, Bosh and Bron a lot in the last two weeks by the way so you can subtract 3 games from their loss column. Before they started resting everyone they had won 5 in a row so they would have finished the season 9-0 with 1 or 2 of those guys playing. The only advantage the Knicks have is the effort of guys like JR Smith, if he goes off and scores 20+ppg while shooting a good % and Novak hits his 3's, they will have a chance to win.

I'm expecting a double digit win by Miami tomorrow. This is Shump's first playoff game, and I don't think he, nor anyone in the league, is capable of shutting Wade down 1 on 1 so the idea that a 21 year old rookie whose never played in the playoffs before can succeed in such a magnanimous task is far fetched. In fact I believe Shump will get himself into foul trouble quickly tomorrow.

I hope I eat crow and Knicks win in 4 but realistically this probably won't last longer than 5 games for the Knicks. Probably can be competitive for the majority of the series, but I just can't see the Heat getting knocked off in the 1st round.

Would be one of the biggest upsets in recent playoff history, if not of all time.

If Tyson and co can keep Lebron away from the paint then they got a real good shot. Turn Lebron into a shooter and see if can break a defense in a series. The only problem is that Tyson can't do it all if he gets in foul trouble then he doesn't have that real back up center like he did in Dallas.

i find it ironic that the same knicks fans thinking they're being underestimated are the same people that are underestimating Miami.

I think between all of last year, plus last year's playoffs, plus this season, we have a pretty good idea of what Miami is. We know what their strengths are and what their weaknesses are. They are a very good team that is top heavy, overly reliant on their stars, likes to get out in transition off long rebounds and turnovers, uses easy baskets and tough defense to get ahead and prefers playing from in front.

No one is underestimating the Heat. The basic difference in opinion is between how good the Knicks are in comparison to the Heat and how much of a chance they have to beat Miami.

People who put Miami's chances of winning as 60+% with a likelihood of them winning in 5 are just as delusional as the people who think the Knicks are a superior team.

Miami is a little bit better of a team than the Knicks, but not significantly so, especially at the level the Knicks have reached under Woodson.

This series will come down to hot shooting, lucky bounces and ref's calls, because I don't see any clear separation between the two teams.

However, the longer the series goes, the less it favors the Heat. The pressure will build against them and their expectations and they have not so far shown that they can overcome that pressure.

The Knicks will finally win another playoff game, but that's it. Anthony won't get enough help offensively and Bosh will keep Chandler from being able to help much on James and Wade. Heat in five.

STFU about the damn Knicks until August 2012. That's it. I don't want any sig bets, I don't want nothing except quiet until next year's training camp. No trash talking after you got sent home, no running your mouth in HEAT vs. ______ series threads talking about x team will take out Miami. If the fans aren't arrogantly yapping about how their team can beat another team, they are yapping arrogantly about how they are favorites to get such and such free agent, and then by getting that player they can beat another team. So at the end of the day, it still amounts to a team that hasn't won a playoff game in 11 years yapping about how they can beat another team.

As much pressure as the Heat players will be under I think thier fanbase is under more. We talk **** but we have nothing to lose. They talk **** and lose...they lose what little credibility they had to begin with on this site and many others. Which is why they are so very defensive. If the Heat lose to the Knicks or to any other team in these playoffs, they are a laughing stock.

The thing I want to see is will the Heat have this second gear we have been hearing about, as in the regular season doesn't matter and they will turn it on in the playoffs. They have looked like a beatable team this year at times so this series will be interesting to see. Man I'm looking forward to watching the NBA this weekend.

Actually the Knicks are a laughing stock because nobody takes anything your delusional fan base says seriously.

If it's not pretending every single one of you didn't have LeBron in Knicks jerseys in your sig, it's turning coat on Melo and proclaiming Jeremy Lin savior, and like I keep saying over and over... when you lose instead of shutting up, PSD will have to suffer through the next 5 months of "Amare for Deron" or "Amare for Dwight" or "Phil Jackson wants to coach the Knicks!". heat won all 3 games two by double digits. i dont see this going more than 6 games

Again, you guys like to overlook the facts.

The first game we were struggling with our chemistry and it had nothing to do with "How good you played" but everything to do with our team not being on the same page. 6+turnovers in the last 8 minutes of that game killed us, Not some awesome feats of basketball by Miami.

The second game we also had chemistry issues with Melo and Stat trying to get back in the flow with Linsanity (who was exhausted) and on top of that, the refs let the Heat beat him up all night hardly calling any fouls. Quite convenient.

Both game 1 and 2 were under D'Antoni.

Game three was without Amare, you out rebounded us by 14, AND it took us missing a lot of open 3s and FTs combined with a highly questionable 3pt negating referee call for you guys to win.

Now those first two games aren't even relevant in this series.

The third game is the most relevant. And what that game says is that even if the Heat play well, which you guys did, if the Knicks hit their FTs and a decent percentage on 3s, even if we are out rebounded, we will win the game. That is far from the enormous margin you Miami Homers are painting.

And as far as Experts/Analysts go....

How many of them had Dallas winning the championship last year AT THE BEGINNING OF THE PLAYOFFS?

Beyond that, how many had Dallas beating Miami in the Finals?

The sad thing with today's experts and analysts is they don't have the time to follow in depth every team like the fans do.

How about Miami's poor record against playoff teams in the second half of the season? How come none of you Miami Heat fans are boasting about that?

Ganna be fun you have lebron Wade, bosh amare, melo, Tyson in the same game going head to head, how can you not be exicted, My heart says knicks in 7 my brain says heat in 6. My take on the game is the bench isnt that much of a factor, Smith has to hit his shots, same with novak. Fields has to play tough defense, Lebron and melo go head to head they cause eachother tough assinments so they even out, amare always gets up to vs bosh, so they do the same. the problem is wade is an animal and we have nobody to stop him. Knicks only have a chance if they limit the fastbreak chances for miami and slow down the pace (go figure a knick team that has an advantage in a slowed down game) no doubt miami is the favorite but it wont be a sweep and it wont be easy, I dont see any blowouts in this series unless 8 or 10 points is a blowout? tyson amare melo fields have to control the boards should be a great series, good luck guys.
