View Full Version : Kobe 'absolutely' expects Lakers to win title

"I expect to win it, absolutely," Bryant told 710 ESPN's "Max & Marcellus Show" on Wednesday. "I think the thing that's our biggest strength is our versatility and our size. (Ramon) Sessions has added another dimension to our team in terms of speed and point guard that can score the ball. Our bench has been playing extremely well. We've been shooting the ball extremely well, and our biggest key is our perimeter shooting, limiting our turnovers, and keeping the game at our pace. If we can do those things in the postseason, I like our chances."

Confident, but I disagree. I think their ceiling is WCF at best.

We're not favorites, but who knows what can happen. If Dallas won last year, why can't we?

All these superstars in the playoffs should expect the same thing.

What is he supposed to say? Spurs, OKC, Bulls or Miami are gonna run away with it?

Anyone can argue what team they think can win it all and people can argue what team cant win it all.

That's the beauty of the season, there are 7 or 8 teams with a good chance.

Heat, bulls, pacers, spurs, thunder, lakers, mavs, all have a chance to win it all. It's going to be a fun post season

04-25-2012, 07:51 PM
What is he to say? They expect to lose in the second round?

Sssmush
04-25-2012, 07:56 PM
Probably, we are like 10:1 against going the whole way and beating the Heat in the Finals, but Kobe is right that the team has been jelling more, and if they are shooting well they can be extremely tough.

Remember that this Lakers team is built for the playoffs, and the big X-factor is that they have two All Star 7 footers in the front court with Bynum and Gasol.

With Kobe fresh and at 100% + Artest at full strength and shooting well, I mean you're talking about two very unusual and actually almost legendary competitors in the game, so you can't rule the Lakers out by any means.

What'd you expect him to say ...really

For me this year, though, after all the drama, the playoffs are just a bonus.

I thought the Lakers winning the Pacific Division title was HUGE, especially after all the noise and hype about the Clippers, and the Lakers' early season setbacks and struggles.

That the Lakers were able to pull it together and win the Pacific, denying the Clippers their shot at their first and only Pacific Division title, means that it was already a super successful season as far as I'm concerned.

Let's see what happens now in the playoffs, it will be interesting.

WoW! What do you really expect him to say? That "No I don't think we can win it"? Every leader of the playoffs teams should be confidant enough to win it all or at least they have to say it in the media if asked. Pointless thread.

04-25-2012, 08:21 PM
Don't blame him. All I know is that I don't want my Nuggets playing these guys. History is against us and not to mention Kobe & Bynum have been total beasts this season for the most part. (Although we can pull an upset, just prefer OKC )

The Lakers can go all the way, they are the only team with two all star seven footers, LETS GO LAKERS.

llemon
04-25-2012, 08:41 PM
Wasn't it Kobe that expected the Lakers to trade Bynum for Jason Kidd, and was really disappointed when the trade didn't happen?

I expect Kobe to be equally, if not more disappointed when the Lakers are eliminated in the playoffs.

I think we are a very dangerous team. Nobody is givin us a chance... We will make some noise.

Two 7 footers, kobe, young point guard, metta playing his beat basketball as a laker... Id say we are in a good position to make a run

He has high expectations. Who knows, the Lakers can be the Dallas Mavericks of last year. People can doubt them and they could go under the radar.

They have the pieces to win it all, it just depends if they play great at the right time.

As a Laker fan, do I honestly think they can win it all? No. I hope so though.

he was asked if they can win it, what do you want the guy to say? "No i have no faith in our team"?

what do you expect him to say????

you need to change your sig pic to Eli or Peyton if its going to match what you said in your sig......

Either is fine since Peyton owns the regular season and Eli owns Brady in the Super Bowl.

And Kobe is correct-I fully expect the Lakers to win the title as well. They are playoff built champions and Sessions, along with Hill and Ebanks, bring that much needed youthful hunger to get that first title.

Its because people are so much into power rankings and all that predictions BS and they tend to forget that anything can happen in basketball.

LOOL yeah because Eli is a candidate for the greatest QB of this generation...
Peyton probably has a genuine shot at that title, but I'm happy to leave it.
Btw, the first step is admitting you actually don't know anything about the NFL.

They have a solid chance. I'm never going to write off a team with Kobe Bryant on the roster. However, we all know that Kobe can deliver and probably will as usual, Bynum on the other hand is a strange cat. He can dominate but his head just isn't screwed on right at times, he needs to be a solid in order for the Lakers to win it all. Not knocking his talents at all, he's a good player but just isn't in the right mindset sometimes.

Trust me , Lakers will make some noise in playoff . They are one decent SF for being favourites . In my books , Bulls and Spurs are favourites

A lot of playoff teams expect themselves to win.

Though I do believe they have a lesser chance this year than last. They were a better roster and was better coached last year.

Yeah, I have to say, the Nuggets are a great and talented regular season team. You know, the regular season, where about 60% of the teams in the league don't really play defense?

Welcome to the playoffs fellas! ;)

LOOL yeah because Eli is a candidate for the greatest QB of this generation...

If Brady is the "greatest", yet is constantly PWNED on the biggest stage for all the marbles twice in 4 years by Eli, who is the 4th quarter king and punked the pats in thier regular season meeting too btw, then he deserves the title.

Peyton probably has a genuine shot at that title, but I'm happy to leave it.

Im fine with that as well, since he is an epic "regular season" QB like Brady.

In the end, i'll take the insanely clutch playoff guy who rips it up and OWNS it when the pressure is at its highest. That would be goofy as hell Eli. Dude is nails and has ice water flowing through his veins come playoff time.

Also, those who are saying the Lakers cant win the title are failing to realize the obvious: The game slows down tremendously and becomes a half court grind in the playoffs, and the lakers have two 7 footers who are former champions that KNOW how to get it DONE.

The lakers are truly built for the playoffs.

What did you think he'd say?

"What do the odds makers have us at? 14/1? Seems a little high, what's Hollinger's playoff odds have our championship likelihood at? 0.9%? Yea, we don't have a chance. I think Hollinger has it right though." -Kobe Bryant

lakers have a chance to go far but not win it all the only way they can win all is to have kobe in street clothes the offense flows better without kobe dude is finish it WILL only get worst for kobe

****, that's Kobe y'all... If you could fear one man taking the heavyweight title in this league, it should be him... Even though the regular season has shown no signs of the Lakers even getting past the first round... Thinking about it, I'm shocked they got in the playoffs
