Commissioner Stern says there is "a chance" of second-round back to back games. Many players thinking it's a lock to happen.

Damn.

Wow that's gonna really affect some of the outcomes of games. Don't be surprised if you have Lebron, Rose, Durant etc. playing 45mins + back to back

Not good for the Lakers if they face OKC in the 2nd round.

Quality vs quantity(or time?). I'd rather have quality.

That shouldn't happen. If anything all the games should have 1 day off instead of 2 days off. Back to back makes for sloppy play due to fatigue. I hope that doesn't happen.

Doesn't sound like the league cares one bit about the player's safety. We're going to see some injuries in this years playoffs

This really pisses me off. The playoffs should be every team at their best playing for the title. If nothing else, the fans don't deserve this. We just sat through a pretty crappy regular season where everyone got hurt and teams routinely rested players because of the stupid shortened schedule. You made your extra money by making the season 66 games instead of 60. Now give the fans the quality basketball we deserve.

If they are going to do this it needs to be during games 2-3, or 4-5, 6-7 I personally don't think a team should be allowed to get back to back games on its homecourt.

I guess all that talk about having a bench didn't matter in the playoffs goes out the window.

Really sucks if teams have to travel far too.

I know it's newly relevant and a legit conversation - but I'm really surprised at how surprised people seem to be about this. We've known since before the season that this was likely going to happen.

If thats the case the spurs are winning the championship

I'd rather they did this in the first round and go to a 5 - 5 - 7 playoff structure. I mean if they're going to do something ridiculous like a back-to-back in the playoffs, why not go all the way?

Hmm...but depth doesn't matter in the playoffs.

It would only be in the 2nd round...

Advantage to teams like OKC, Miami, Chicago, and Indiana...

Really? I can honestly say I hadn't heard anything like this come up...

Really? I can honestly say I hadn't heard anything like this come up...

It was announced when the lockout ended and they clarified how the condensed schedule was going to work.

eg it's mentioned in this story from Nov 28:
