OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors have promoted Bob Myers to general manager to replace Larry Riley as planned.

Golden State said in Tuesday's announcement that Riley would remain with the organization as director of scouting. The 37-year-old Myers was a sports agent for 14 years and hails from the Bay Area. He came aboard with the Warriors last April as part of owner Joe Lacob's new-look front office team. The Warriors said at the time they would eventually elevate Myers into the GM role as successor to Riley, who spent the past four seasons in the front office after working as an assistant coach to career wins leader Don Nelson.

Myers has been assisting and learning from Riley in basketball operations, such as contract negotiations, roster decisions and scouting.

Good for the Warriors for listening to their fans' complaints. Can't fire the owner, but replacing the GM is a good start.

They moved him to be the scouting director though, so he can still mess things up :sigh:

I hope warriors fans get a good franchise going.

61. After making the trade to help keep your draft pick, the Warriors decide to win two games against Minnesota. This most likely put them out of the bottom 7, which means their pick goes to Utah. They can't even win at losing.
