Not sure if this is a thread, but it should be even if there is a game thread.

It should be the game thread for that game so that the 17 Net fans and the rest of the NBA community can discuss it :D

Just kidding, strange that they wont be in NJ again

Yeah....Deron really loves it in Jersey not even playing...

Deron is a douche for not playing. Big deal, calf injury? You'll have an extra vacation. They aren't making the playoffs, so atleast give the New Jersey fans a nice send off.

much more value in tanking the game rather than playing... this has been evident for a week now

New Jersey Governor MAD.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/7847416/new-jersey-governor-chris-christie-says-good-riddance-brooklyn-bound-nets

NEWARK, N.J. -- As the Nets prepared to say goodbye to New Jersey, Gov. Chris Christie bid the Brooklyn-bound NBA team good riddance.

The typically blunt Christie said he would shed no tears over the departure of the Nets, who played their final home game of the season Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers as they prepare to move to New York next season.

"My message to them is, goodbye," Christie said at an afternoon news conference at Newark Beth Israel Hospital where he signed a bill to promote organ and tissue donation. "You don't want to stay, we don't want you."

The Nets have played the last two of their 35 years in New Jersey in Newark at the Prudential Center Arena, the high-tech home built by the city of Newark and the NHL's New Jersey Devils in 2007.

The Nets' owners in the 1990s had sought to move the team to Newark from the Meadowlands but couldn't work out financing a new arena. They eventually sold the franchise in 2004 to real estate developer Bruce Ratner, whose plan all along was to move the team to Brooklyn, and the Nets wound up in Newark as they waited for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to be completed.

Christie scoffed at the team's decision to choose New York over New Jersey.

"That's one of the most beautiful arenas in America they have a chance to play in, it's in one of the country's most vibrant cities, and they want to leave here and go to Brooklyn?" he asked. "Good riddance, see you later. I think there'll be some other NBA team who may be looking to relocate and they might look at that arena and the fan base in the New Jersey and New York area and say, `This is an opportunity to increase our fan base and try something different."

Did he not see the amount of attendance that "wonderful" area fills? Deron + Scrubs would still sellout in MSG because of their loyal fans. Deron's debut was half empty area and everyone knew about the trade.

The Nets hardly sold out the NBA Finals...TWICE. New Jersey simply never worked and there is no actual guarantee it would work with Howard and Deron battling with th Knicks in the East.

Christie is a fat moron. He needs to stick to planning ways to keep Jersey away from floods than to talk about the Nets.

No more New Jersey Nets? That's so weird to me.

Let's not forget the great teams with J-Kidd in the early 2000s. Two Finals appearances right?

Sorry NJ fans, this must really suck.

There were a lot of former players at the game (Coleman, Kittles, MacCulloch, many others), it felt really nostalgic watching on TV, even as a Sixers fan.

I know they're not moving far, but still.

"Jersey Strong. Brooklyn Ready." So dumb haha...

What's the big deal? Newark is what, 30 minutes from Brooklyn? It's not like the Sonics moving to OKC, or the Hornets moving to New Orleans, etc. They're still the Nets, they still suck, and Jersey fans won't have to go far to see them.

As a die hard nets fan who lives in brooklyn, this works out well for me, as well as the entire nets organization. i have been going to nets game for years in jersey and it seems that the fan base decreases every year. its pretty sad the fan supports the nets received in jersey. this move is perfect for them as they move into the heart of one of the busiest citys in america, as opposed to pulling in 5000 fans a night in a town where not many people care about them.
