Met a couple of the Lakers players when I was about 8 or 9 through school and the Lakers community outreach initiative. Been a fan ever since. Won't give my age, but let's just say that I'm old enough that nest egging and retirement planning is my second favorite pasttime. Do you know your number? I do, and I'm almost there. Thank God.

Run T.M.C. for the Warriors is what got me going when I was a little pipsqueak in the late 80's early 90's. The MJ/Pippen Bulls and Dream Team 1 back in '92 kept the log burning. But honestly until the past 5 or so years I was always way more into baseball.

Since I was 10 living in Chicago. Lets just say my first live game was watching the Bulls when Bob Love (I think was his name) played. I just went for the hot dogs, but got a jersey I wore out (for like 10 bucks or less I think). Dual Lakers/Bulls fan (Lakers when I moved to L.A. and right before Magic (he got drafted and was in a top hat on the cover of SI).

Wow nothing but kids on here I Saw Bob Cousy play and because the NBA did not come on but in replays late at night that means I have been a fan since 1957.

So yes I have seen every player that are considered great except the first 10 years of guys who had retired.

Also I have seen and watched the celtics change basketball with that 8 in a row, saw Elgin Baylor, saw pistol Pete in college and with the new Orleans jazz, saw Gus Johnson break the back board, saw Oscar Robertson, saw Bill Russell, saw Wilt Chamberlain telling my age why?

i was 13, the lockout was constantly on the news, i wondered what is this? i do not live in usa so lockout in sports is not familiar. i started watching that season, that Knicks team was awesome, houston, sprewell, johnson, childs, i loved the knicks, eventually they lost to spurs in the finals...

Then some dude called Kobe got my interest, i've been watching his every game since 2000. You know how hard is it to watch Lakers games in here ? If they play in the east it is 2 or 3 am here, if they play at home it is 4.30 or 5.30 am. I had differencial equations finals the day he scored 81, i screwed the finals just to wath a random raptors game (thank god i did that)...

Now i'm 26 and i work. but i still watch lakers games before going to work. But this is not the worst thing, worst thing is i have nobody around to talk about nba, everyone is just a soccer fan.

24, went to my 1st heat game in march 97' Heat-Lakers, I was so sad because Shaq and Zo both sat out but Heat ended up winning in a Tim Hardaway/Nick VanExel shootout where Tim hit a go ahead 3 in final seconds and then Van Exel with a clank at the buzzer...but I have been cheering for the heat pretty much right when Riley came here

I feel Old looking at some of the other Posts.. I'm only 30 years and can remember watching Lakers and Celtics games on TV as far back as 1986-1987.. Really got into it around the the 1989-1990 Season.. I started collecting Basketball Cards..I remember going to see the Sonics and a young Karl Malone play at the old Veteran's memorial in Phoenix, back when games were FREE with admission to the State Fair, I remember watching Pistons win back to back to titles ..my grandfather was a Pistons fan living in LA. and didn't like Jordan so I remember watching the Bulls-Lakers finals in 1991 during summer vacation at his house..how he hated Michael and Magic..it was a care free time in my life that i'll always cherish

I was dragged to a lot of games when I was little...so those are my first memories. When I moved and no longer went to games, I vividly remember Jordan's shot in 1998 against the Jazz (in third grade..was up way past my bedtime!). I remember lying on the floor watch The NBA on NBC and keeping tracks of stats myself on a piece of paper (maybe 5th-6th grade).

I AM old, but this sport and others helps keep me young.

Boards like this have a fountain of youth effect, too, although I admit that I do lose it whenever someone says that some current player is "the best ever" without any real sense of history or knowledge of the great ones that came before his flavor of the month player in this flavor of the month league. :D

That aside, it's great to chat with some of you young folks. The NBA fanbase is in good hands.

I am 25 and basketball was my first love. I started watching from a very early age. I remember watching Bulls games on the weekends when I was 3.

I didn't know anyone on the team except for one guy: MJ! And I just remember knowing that he was very good at what he did.

After the game I would put on these red shorts and white wife beater and play with this toy hoop and ball I had and pretend I was him.

It took me til I was like 6 to realize that I was from NY and that I had a hometown team. So then I became a Knicks fan.

Could've remembered as far back as Jordan's last two ships. My father was a Laker fan so I watched the Shaq & Kobe era but didn't know why. Found out about C-webb fell in love with how the Kings played (Princetown offense). Watched my beloved team get screwed in 2002 stopped watching basketball except for the playoff and a few regular season games here and there. Basically the Magic team that went to the finals (I LOVE Hedo, Shard and Pietrius) resparked my interest in watching games full-time now.
