Simple question, of the below big 3, assuming all are in their primes, would you take?

Heat: LeBron, Wade, Bosh

Celtics: Garnett, Pierce, Allen

Rockets: Hakeem, Barkely, Drexler

Prime Dream and Chuck would beat the other big 3s even without a prim Glide.

You guys do realize

- Hakeem went to 3 finals as the best player on a team right? He won 2 with the worst supporting cast to ever win.

- Chuck took the Suns to the finals with KJ and the next best player being Thunder Dan Marlje or however you spell it.

- Drexler took 2 teams to the Finals as the best player and went again with Hakeem once while the glide was older.

These guys are amazing players.

Rockets are easily the most talented but Boston compliments each other the best. Really tough.

And find it amusing that people are picking Miami considering Boston has given them a hard time while being clearly in the downside of their careers.

Hakeem by HIMSELF one won in his prime.

In their prime the Rockets big 3 would run circles around the Celts.

Hakeem > KG on both ends of the floor.

Barkley > Pierce

Drexler > Allen

Put that big three in their prime in the league today and they run the NBA for years.

the ONLY argument I can see, is at least we know the chemistry on your loser bracket did win a ring.

But I do agree man. I can make a decent argument that both the Dream AND Chuck are better than any of the C's Big 3.

People said the same thing about Miami's big 3, and yet they still struggle at times against an aging Boston big 3.

You're underrating the unbelievable spacing and chemistry that C's team had. In the end, I'd still probably take Houston, but I don't think you're giving Boston a fair case.

The rockets. Give me Barkley and Hakeem to dominate the paint with their defense, scoring, rebounding and inside passing. Then you have drexler who can score and pass the ball.

Rockets? I take Kobe Gasol and Big Drew over all. It's a disservice to put the heat in this and not put the lakers. Your whole poll is invalid because there are many good big threes.

how do people choose boston over the rockets wowwww you have hakeem arguably top 4 greatest center every to play the game. then you have barkley who was a beast then you have clyde drexler who was a beast. i dont think any 1 on the celtics can be a top 4 in there position in nba history like the rockets have in hakeem

This has got to be the biggest display of lack of knowledge in a thread on PSD ever. The fact that the Celtics and Heat are even in the same discussion as the Rockets with those three is absolutely ridiculous. To think people actually believe that Allen, KG, and Pierce or LeBron, Wade, and Bosh in their primes are better than the Dream, the Glyde, and Sir Charles in their primes, just speaks to a complete misunderstanding of the game of basketball itself, not just the players in question. I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your souls.

In a ranking of primes this is what it would look like.

Tier 1: LeBron, Olajuwon
Tier 2: Drexler, Barkley, KG, Wade
Tier 3: Allen, Pierce
Tier 4: Bosh

A close one between Rockets and Celtics but I went with the Rockets in this one. Hakeem is one of the greatest centers of all time, Charles Barkley being a top 3 PF of all time, and Clyde a top 5 SG of all time.

I mean lets be honest, you can argue that just prime Hakeem and Chuck alone on the front court can dominate the league for years. Then you add prime Clyde Drexler in the mix? Good god!

Garnett is the best defensive anchor out of all of those options, as well.

Actually, I take that back. I did not watch Dream play as I was too young. How great of a defender was he?

Spacing is all well and good but at the end of the day the Rockets have one of the greatest Cs ever a Clyde Drexler who can switch on either Pierce or Allen and still cause havoc on the end of the floor and a player in Barkley who just like Hakeem raises his game to a whole other level when it most matters. The man is one of the greatest post season performers of all time and one of the great players all together.

I gave Boston a fair case but when you have a player the likes of Hakeem Olajuwon on the floor and you support him with arguably the greatest offensive player at the PF position and a player in Clyde who can and is willing to play virtually any role on any given night for you.

I think you're underestimating the value of having two players the likes of Hakeem and Chuck in their prime in the post season in the mid/low/high post.

Chemistry wise Drexler and Hakeem were fantastic, throw Barkley in that stew when they were all in their prime well we don't know for certain how that would work so we can say that Boston has the advantage there but since everyone is asking if we can include Rondo with the Celtics big 3 lets throw say Kenny Smith and Robert Horry (played a lock down SF in his Houston days). How does the spacing look now?

At the end of the day the Rockets have the X-Factor in all of this and a player likes of Hakeem in his prime trumps most other factors.

IMO the 2nd greatest defensive C and over the second greatest defensive player in the history of the game. Russell is the only player I'd rank ahead of him on that end of the floor. He could have guarded anyone who played the PF/C individually and was a fantastic paint protector at the same time.

Garnett was/is great but you ask KG to contain to of the most potent offensive post players ever AND protect the lane? I think that's a little too much to expect of him.

Unbelievably, the Celtics werent overpowering offensively even with all that spacing, in fact the older group of Dream, Chuck, Drexler powered a greater offense for their league, they just couldnt defend like they used to.

The Celtics chemistry was apparent from day 1 but it wasnt anymore transcendent than Houston's. The real difference was that Houston was lacking in the area people thought Boston would be, PG.
