View Full Version : Wizards SG Jordan Crawford wants more respect in the NBA

Fresno

Crawford has often had to deal with being overlooked or forgotten — from high school to AAU to college — and the slights have fueled his confidence and relentless desire to prove that he not only belongs, but deserves to be respected on the floor.

But each quality performance has also raised more questions about his future role with the organization and whether he is a long-term option as John Wall’s back-court mate. The 6-foot-3 Crawford is a volume shooter and admittedly takes some head-scratching shots, with defenders contesting or early in a possession. Coach Randy Wittman is constantly on the second-year guard about his shot selection.

“It’s not a bad shot until you miss it. That’s how it always is,” said Crawford, who is connecting on 40.6 percent of his field goal attempts this season. “I probably do take bad shots, but in a sense, we kind of need some of those shots I take. I can always improve on it and I will.”

He said this before the season

“I don’t tell nobody, but I feel like I can be better than Michael Jordan,” Crawford said, without the slightest hint of sarcasm. “When I’m done playing, I don’t want people to say, Michael Jordan is the best player. I want that to be me. That’s how I am. That’s how I was built.”

It's that MJ comment which is why he doesn't get respect.

If a kid can say the same thing (I want to be better than Michael Jordan) and not get knocked on it then why cant Jordan Crawford. The guy has aspirations just like everyone else and I respect his determination.

Good...aspirations are always good...but to do them is another thing.

Forget the Jordan quote, this quote is why he doesn't deserve respect.

“It’s not a bad shot until you miss it. That’s how it always is,” said Crawford, who is connecting on 40.6 percent of his field goal attempts this season. “I probably do take bad shots, but in a sense, we kind of need some of those shots I take. I can always improve on it and I will.”

First he denies the existence of bad shot selection, then he admits to doing it and justifies it. Saying he "can always improve on it" is an empty proclamation.

If he was on any other team he wouldn't be getting his 18 shots a game, and I dont know why he even gets them. I would rather see Wall take the bulk of the shots if anything.

Yeah, but look at the quote above that.

I also find it funny how he says “I don’t tell nobody, but I feel like I can be better than Michael Jordan,” He doesn't tell anyone, yet he's telling the media.

I highly doubt any NBA player was underrated in AAU or college, not really sure what tje point of this article is.

It's that MJ comment which is why he doesn't get respect.

And I thought it was because of the ridiculous high volume of shots he takes AND misses.

If Wizards were smart, they'd cut his *** by now.

You're shooting 40%, and 30% from 3. You have ONE job, to shoot the ball. And you can't even do that right. STFU.

No, but if you don't understand that a shot is bad before you take it you obviously aren't taking your goal very seriously.

Ernie Grunfeld.

He doesn't value character, the Wizards are essentially the NBA's version of the Bengals. He drafts/acquires a bunch of talented players who lack brains and its created a terrible environment to play in. Deron Williams even mentioned it how the Wizards have a bunch of dumb players. There is no veteran leadership, except 2 of the worst contracts in the NBA in Nene and Rashard Lewis.

Sometimes bad shots are necessary, especially on teams without good offensive options. However, the amount of bad shots he takes is unnecessary.

If any one saids he should get banned for saying he thinks he can be better than jordan than your just as dumb as he is with comments. He even said and quote " I dont like telling people this" and bash him.

Doesnt Lebron and Kobe think they are better than Jordan? didnt they wanna be like him any ways ?. Whats the problem? I liked WWE my whole life I always wanted to be HBK but that doesnt make me stupid it makes me excited of what I can do and hope to do and even if I wasnt on that level it would honestly give me the heart to do what they where doing . Chris Jericho idolized HBK as did HHH with Hogan.

But I do agree with one thing the wizards have dumb players.
