View Full Version : 76ers CEO asks fans on twitter who they should keep and who they should trade...cool!

Every PSDers dream..to have the ear of someone in front office and help on trades :D
The 76ers have some tough off-season decisions to make – do you re-sign Specer Hawes? Do you see what the market will offer for Andre Iguodala (again)? Elton Brand is entering the last year of his deal, can you move him?

Every day, Sixers fans are playing GM on twitter anyway, so Sixers CEO Adam Aron decided to make it a little more formal. Hewants to know what you think and tweeted this Tuesday morning.

YOUR OUR TWITTER GM: Name 1 or more current Sixers you believe MUST be on roster next year, 1 or 2 you’d trade and why… “KEEP: TRADE:”

It’s a nice marketing move. There is no chance that the Sixers are seriously considering your eight-team trade that nets the 76ers Kevin Durant and Kevin Love for Jodie Meeks, but the fact they are asking comes off well.

In an interactive, social media world why not reach out to the fans and get their thoughts? You know they want to get rid of Iggy anyway, why not confirm it.

owners on the most part don't give a flying **** about the fans, just the money they spend on their franchise. nobody said he would consider any of the fans' ideas anyway, maybe he's just trying to care

I actually replied to him... I said to keep Jrue and Iggy and trade Brand and Turner.

Try and sign Iggy to a smaller contract, don't overpay Jrue, try and get a return for Turner as he hasn't performed. Brand could be moved as a huge expiring. Don't resign Hawes (despite his good performances earlier, he'll never be a great center) and resign Meeks to a reasonable contract. We might get something for Williams and Thad.

I really think our problem is overvaluing our players. We need to get some good picks in the next few drafts, play free agency cleverly and hope that our young players develop. Keep Collins at any cost though: I love his defensive coaching, we would have been a really good team this year if we had a scorer at the two. As Michael Lombardi (the NFL guy) tweeted earlier: 'This team is closer to being a lottery team than a championship contender'.

Why are people getting mad at this?

1) It makes the fans feel like they are cared about

2) the owner and management aren't really going to listen to the opinions in the tweets

Actually happy to see this. It shows that the top of the organization cares about the fans and understands that the Sixers need to shake it up in order to improve.

I just hope they follow through and make some moves in the off-season.

I doubt they will consider twitter ideas, but this is pretty cool to see as a Sixer fan.

It's like the old days when the mob (fans) used to help decide whether a gladiator would live or die in the arena after he lost.

Lets be honest here. Most fans are clueless and rely on their emotions too much. That is why we hire professional GMs to take care of teams and their rosters. This is one of the most ridiculous and classless things I have ever seen. It's the easiest way to lose your team.

For sure. I bet if Orlando did this, Dwight Howard would make a bunch of random twitter accounts so he can try and get rid of all of the teammates he doesn't want.

Im pretty sure magic fans are more eager to get rid of his teammates than he is.

I agree he's fantastic, I'm a big fan, but that's why I want him gone. We can't build a contender with the current roster, and he's too good for us to ever be bad enough to rebuild properly. I'm a big Iggy fan, and think he could be an integral guy on a champ team - but unfortunately we're not really set up to get from here to a championship while keeping him on board.

Yup, he does. Hate this idea. Had a little rant at him about it.

All but a few teams in the league would love Eric Gordon at the 2, but that's so far from our main needs.

This is ********. They should be able to realize the problems with the team themselves and do what it takes to fix it. It was clear from day 1 that these jabronis had no idea what they were getting themselves into when they bought the team. They thought cutting ticket prices and shooting confetti after games would fix everything.

This is the thing... This Guy is VERY involved with Fans i've literally talked to him at 2 sixer games, he is just a nice guy that wants fans to feel they are involved... He is not going to actually Make a Move Because someone said so, But he is not a Douche like most Billionaire owners are.... He is a good guy that actually wants to know what people think of the team.... he asked me how i like the Logo's, what i think our record would be at the end of the season, he grow up a 76er fan.... Again he is just trying to get Fans feel more part of the team.... honestly i think it was awesome.

sadly true but i dont think we will be getting a superstar anytime soon.... Miami-LA Both teams those are Places people WANT to sign.... only reason someone would sign here is because of money, Which we dont have any lol

Sullinger is not a C.

I'd rather spend one of those picks on Marshall if we have a hole at PG.

If we had three picks I'd take Beal (if at all possible), Marshall and the best big available.

lol no thanks. Lou and Rivers in the starting lineup together, are u crazy? We have Nic Vuc (any could keep Hawes) so we dont need and I dont want any part of Myers Leonard.
