It's time to rebuild. Keep Rondo, try adding other pieces.

lol Defenses would be hit with screens all game long with Rip and Ray.

They all leave, Pierce gets traded, they try to tank next year for a high draft pick, then they use their cap space to make a run at Dwight. I doubt it works, but my guess is their plan is a 2013 core of Rondo-Bradley-2013 draft pick-Dwight-above average free agent X (with their remaining cap space). Don't be surprised if Rondo misses 20 or 30 games next year with a mystery injury.

Pierce, KG, and Allen are all likely to retire soon. Allen in particular needs ankle surgery again and has health concerns in his family. Most likely out of the three to hang it up this Summer.

FO has already stated it won't overspend on the blehhh free agents. They will take a year to develop and evaluate the rookies, hope for another good draft pick in 2013 and go from there

~~~
Alternate theory, they've scheduled a training camp in Italy as with the 08 season. Ainge might have something crazy on the way.
You're high if you think that. He's a horrible fit for any team, let alone one that wants to get better
I'd be alright with a 8-9M contract, with a clause that says he has to read a certain number of books per year. Or something.
Only guarantee: Austin Rivers will be drafted by the Celtics as long as he's available at that slot.
I would throw money at Eric Gordon and Kaman,resign KG for MLE.
Rondo,Dooling
Gordon,Bradley
Pierce,Pietrus
KG,Bass
Kaman,Stisma
That's a contending roster.
The way Bradley is playing right now, he's not likely to lose his starting spot. Gordon would be a :speechless: 6th man though.
And though I'm really not a fan of Kaman, it might look more like this:
Rondo
Bradley/Gordon
Pierce/Green/Pietrus
Bass/Johnson
KG/Kaman/Stiemsma
+a bunch of picks to fill out the roster.
Bass wouldn't start , KG is a natural 4 man - they'd slide him back there , and Kaman would def. start at the 5 ... and Bradley over Gordon is laughable.
I agree lol Gordon will be the 3rd best on that team
Why is it laughable. Do you think Thabo Sefelosha is better than Harden?
In this scenario, Gordon is the 6th man. Bradley is beasting right now, he plays very well off of Rondo, and he's a better defender than Gordon.
KG is significantly slower than every 4 in the league right now, but he has a favorable matchup against most centers because they don't want to guard him 20 feet out. KG makes the offense run much smoother. Bass is having a career year with this lineup too.
Kaman off the bench would probably get more minute that KG anyway, but in the 2nd unit he would have more looks. Everybody wins.
If you think they wouldn't accept backup roles, well maybe. But Boston landing a marquee free agent in the first place is very unlikely to begin with.
I'd take a broken JO over head-case McGee and the horrific contract he's going to be going after. Hell, I'd be for keeping KG at center and use Bass at PF next year if it meant staying the **** away from McGee
