That team had star power with wade and shaq, had a good defense, and they were pretty damn deep.

This team has two superstars and an all star and that's it.

06 heat team was average. They had an aging Shaq, the most overrated player in the last decade, and bunch of old scrubs.

I don't think I'd say, "and its not even close". The current heat team has the talent to win, they just need to show up. Also Riley > Spo

They did win the ring though, they must have done something right...

Now if we look into the stats, we will see "only what we want to see" and use that in our arguments even after someone comes in and proves that it wasn't the deciding factor....

But that team isn't better than the current one but the difference is the coach. If Pat Riley stepped up to the plate this year then they would be much better

So then you're just saying that Dwyane Wade is a super great player to do this with such a scrub team. :speechless:

Yeah, this is what I said. I think the coach makes a huge difference in an instance like this.

Not to start another debate here, but the refs helped that Heat team a lot in the finals

2006 Shaq would take a dump on 2012 Joel Anthony, Wade was better in '06, Posey could defend LeBron pretty well, and that Heat team was deeper. I think I'd take the '06 Heat

Any top 15 player right now would have won with Shaq in 06. The Mavs game plan was to stop Shaq and double team him. Wade faced 0 double teams.

P-O-Z
04-16-2012, 03:29 PM
The 06 regular season did mean nothing. We wanted to be healthy heading in to the playoffs. Shaq, Riles, Zo etc all said it. It was all about beating the pistons and then completing our goal. The team was built to beat detroit .. dallas not so much, but wade had an unreal performance. Add that with Zo and the rest of the supporting cast hitting big shots when they needed.

This years heat is more than just 2 big stars and an all star, they play solid team defense. They wouldn't be a contender otherwise. Also, if LeBron or Wade go out with an injury they are in big trouble. Not sure how they compare to 06 since I wasn't watching the heat closely that year.

What was Miami's excuse last year?

Injured wade = No championship in 06 either. (05 and 07 are prime examples.)

The '06 team was better at center, and that's pretty much it. They would get destroyed by the current team's athleticism. Also, if they can win against Dwight Howard this year, they certainly could win against 2006 Shaq.

Yes because the Bulls having the deepest team in the NBA means Rose is overrated. Nice logic there.

No doubt the officiating was one sided BUT the comeback in game 3 purely wade and co hittin jumpers, and the game tying bank shot at the end of game 5. But I suppose the refs helped those shots go in.
