View Full Version : "I can play my game a little better without Jeremy Lin" - Carmelo Anthony

Jeremy Lin is a great player and an even better person, but I can get in my comfort zone easier when he's not here. I'm not at my best when I'm a decoy or a floor spacer. I'm a star, you know what I mean? You've gotta get me the ball and let me make my teammates better. Carmelo can't be Carmelo if you don't let Carmelo be Carmelo. I can play my game a little better without Jeremy because everything was about making him a star. I'm not knocking Jeremy because he can't control that, but if he was here they'd probably still wanna milk linsanity and people would still be saying I fell off. I couldn't do me like that, nobody could.....not Kobe, not Lebron, not Wade, not Durant, nobody. I never fell off, never.

I'm pretty sure this quote is completely made up. The only other 'source' is just another forum post on some random message board. Not to mention it's completely out of character with everything else he's said regarding linsanity.

its true...he needs the ball in his hands to succeed. lin on the floor creating takes that away from melo.

might be a rude comment but its pretty honest...

I know this is an internet forum, but this is why garbage tabloid magazines make money. People believe anything they read.

I'm guarentee that in two weeks in a argument between a NYK fan and some random troll the troll is going to reference this troll thread when trying to state that Melo is a bad player. :laugh2:

Yeah, let's all take from a guy with 28 posts who posted some **** without a source, link, and some **** a reasonable basketball player would never say.

I dont know if this true or not, but im happy that the knicks got the win today and it was a good game today and melo has been playing great these past games , BUT u cant expect to win it all playing this way. Although Im happy we won today..The knicks were lucky to have won today. U cant win by running iso's. Thats how the knicks lose these leads in the first place. They play team ball and jump to a huge lead and then all of a sudden get back to 1 on 1 play.

Whether or not its true isn't the point. What we would be judging him on is that he decided to tell the media about it. But its a fake quote anyhow..

yea when melo came back i always wanted lin to play off the bench. Not to downgrade lin, but I thought both of their games kinda clash. Melo needs to have the ball almost all the time to be as effective as hes playing now. And lin could of been coming off the bench leading the 2nd unit.

this knicks team reminds him of Denver where he was surrounded by supporting cast. I expect NYK to get just as far as Denver did with Melo ball dominating.

That Denver team was actually VERY good... unfortunately they played in a very dominant conference with the Spurs, Lakers and Suns. Has they been in the Est, they would have been competing for ECF every year.
