As most of you probably know, and it's been talked about throughout the season, that LBJ having one of the best statistical seasons all time (3rd in scoring, 4th in steals, 9th in FG%, 12th in assists, and then 1st in PER, win shares, etc.). Along with that, he is defending every position of the opposition. Thoughts?

He should. It would be awesome to see him dominate like that.

If he wins both, and Heat win a championship in which he is the finals MVP. (Getting ahead of myself I know). I would argue greatest season ever by a player.

I'd like to see that kind of dominating performance during my life time,

slim, i think he he has a better chance of winning neither than winning both

I'd say about 25%. I think he's basically a lock for MVP (unless Durant goes psycho), but there are too many other players that would be considered for defensive MVP. Usually a Center or Power Forward comes away with the reward. I think Howard will win it again (or Ibaka), and even if a big man doesn't, I believe Iggy might get it. I could swear that the opponents offensive PER against him is like 5 or 6 or some outrageously low number.

I think Dwight Howard's chance for dpoy is slightly decrease after this van Gundy stuff so that helps lebron

Hakeem 1994 did all 3 and even so his season is a top 10 all time but hardly the best all time.

The simple fact that dwight doesnt try on some nights and has caused his team more harm than good means to me that he wont be winning DPOY this year.

Why is there a new Heat thread almost everyday?
I hate the NBA but also think to each their own but Heat fans are destroying this website

Yea but I think LeBron is an umatched force. At his best I have never seen a player as dominant in all facets of the game.

No, i said its a slim chance, but to say there is no chance is ignorant.

I don't see Dwight getting it this year anyway, with the whole 'Dwightmare' in Orlando.

I think LeBron is a logical option.. I think Ibaka should have a shout, but he's not a 'big enough name' to win it unfortunately.

If a player is that dominant they wouldn't lose as the favorite with HCA 3 years in a row.

To be honest, I don't think he'll win either anymore; as for "LBJ having one of the best statistical seasons all time", those numbers have dropped off considerably, he's not even having his best season of his career, let alone all time.

I'd have Dwight winning DPOY and Lebron isn't a lock to me for MVP either.. I think he's ahead in the race but Durant has a good shot at it as well.

LeBron is the clear cut choice for MVP right now but I dont see him winning DPOY either.

I say he will win the MVP. Right now he's the front runner.

DPOY IMO he's 3rd right now, he should finish probably 2nd or 3rd, it depends on the voters bias.

Howard... MMMM... Emmm... His drama isn't a good D.

You must have started watching NBA ball 5 years ago? Hes not the best scorer in the game. Hes not the best passer in the game. Hes not the best rebounder in the game. Hes not the best defensive player in the game. He is certainly a dominant player as he is the most athletic player to probably ever play basketball. But to say that you have never seen a pleayr as dominant in all facets of the game speaks volumes about your knowledge when it comes to the NBA.

Please don't talk like you know anything about The Dream. He won back to back titles with the worst supporting cast ever. Lebron has great players around him. What Hakeem did was awesome and you know nothing about him.

Dwight will get it because that's what the DPOY has become sadly.

Blocking shots 40 feet into the stands is the new criteria.

Blocking shots 40 feet into the stands is the new criteria.

You obviously don't know much about Dwight's defensive impact; the two games he missed, the opposing team's combined for 100pts in the paint. With Dwight on the floor (85mins of a possible 96mins), the opposing team has scored only 50pts in the paint... Dwight's impact can't be measured by simple BPG or charges taken, it goes much deeper than that.

...

Dwight leads the league in Drtg and DWS, while the Magic lead the league (minus the games Dwight missed) in paint protection. He locks down the paint, guards his man well, plays the pnr better than any big, guards wings better than any big and recovers to rebound better than anyone leaguewide... Dwight's more deserving than anyone for DPOY and has been each year he has won it. If you want to give it to someone else just because he won 3 in a row or because he's been a huge distraction to his team this season, then and only then, do you have a case.

Before KD-LJ second showdown espn still had Lebron as there MVP. Im serious! I was reading all of there tweets saying Lebron is clear cut. And that was after Durant spanked him the first time around! and this was when thunders had a better record.

Imagine now after he beat Durant.

David Stern and the NBA is trying so hard to reestablish him into there media whore and thats even if they have to dik durant.

Dono whats gone happen, but at this point the MVP is between LeBron and Durant, and the DPOY is between Dwight, Iggy and LBJ.
