Now there's about 15 games left and the regular season is ending. I wanna ask who is your Defensive Player of The Year?

He wont win it and probably should not but NOBODY has changed a defensive culture and made more of an impact on their team than Tyson Chandler. Amazing how one guy can almost single handedly help change the culture of an organization and make all the players around him better on that end of the floor.

Tyson Chanlder all the way, he is a huge reason why Knicks are one of the best defensive teams in the leagure right now. Plus he regularly shuts down big men. Like yesterday's game where Dwight did not score untill the third quarter.

If you're discreditting Dwight for all of the off-court drama, then you got a case; otherwise it is just stupid not to award him DPOY...

Let me put it this way; in the two games Dwight missed, the opponent's shot over 56% in both games and combined for 100pts in the paint in just two games. This season the Magic led the league in paint protection and were 7th in eFG% allowed before Dwight went down. Case and point; yesterday Dwight returned to the lineup and the Knicks shot 49% (hit 13 3pters), but had only 28pts in the paint.

There is not a single player league-wide that impacts a game defensively like Dwight does.

i cant give dwight DPOY because some nights he just mails it in and costs his teams wins imo. IF he played hard every night he would win DPOY every single year, but he is just to much of a distraction. I give it to bron this year, but i wouldn't be surprised at all if dwight wins it.

Ok. If you wanna play this game, in the 2 games Chandler missed for the Knicks, they allowed 119 to the Bucks and 118 to the Spurs. They allowed 60 points in the paint against the Spurs and 17 offensive rebounds to the Bucks.

If Dwight doesn't get it, it should be between Iggy and Deng... Dwight "mailing it in" is still more impactful than other players at their best.

Off-court distractions + winning 3 in a row, then yes, I agree it should go to someone else.

Okay if you wanna play that game, the Magic scored more points in the paint against the Knicks without even 1 slasher on the team... The Mavs are better defensively without Tyson this year, I don't think much more needs to be said there.

Not sure why deng should win it, his opp rating is worse than lebrons, plus he cant guar the 1-5

Tyson has turned the Knicks defense around completely. For the record, I'm not saying Tyson should win DPOY(Iggy should), but I would put Tyson ahead of Dwight this year.

He's a great defensive big, second best in the league behind Dwight, but he's far behind Dwight. I don't think it was so much of him changing the culture, but he has been a big reason. I credit Mike Woodson for the defensive schemes/sets that he runs, but it's upto his players to execute it... Tyson has played well defensively, but he's no Dwight Howard.

His DRAPM is extremely high, while his OPP isn't that much worse considering he guards the opposing team's best player every night. He can't guard 1-5, but neither can Lebron, maybe for a possession here and there, but if you think he could do it for 36-48mins, you're mistaken. I'm not ready to award Lebron the DPOY because he locks guys down maybe one quarter a game (all possessions guarding scorers/out of position players combined). Wade and Battier guard the opposing team's best player for 90+% of the game and Lebron just shuts them down when he needs to.

He's in my top 5, right behind Dwight, Iggy and Deng, but not #1 or #2.

Lebron is not getting it. It'll be a guy like Iggy or even Chandler should get some nods for the improvements he's brought to the Knicks.

Reason Lebron won't is he does not always make it a point to guard the other teams best player. When he does, he's dominant, but they have Battier that they use most games. Lebron might do it in the 4th or so, but other guys guard the other teams best player every minute they're in the game. Those guys should get the nod.
