It is opening day and here are all of the games scheduled for today:

Thursday, April 5th

1:05 PM EDT, Comerica Park

Jon Lester, LHP____Justin Verlander, RHP

Lester has a 76-34 record in 155 games. He's a two-time All-Star and has won 15 games or more in each of the past four years. Since the start of '08, Lester is tied with CC Sabathia for second in the AL in wins. This is his second Opening Day start.

It'll be the fifth straight Opening Day start for Verlander, but none of them have come with as much anticipation. Moreover, he hasn't come out of April with a winning record since his rookie season of 2006, including a 2-3 mark last April.

1:10 PM EDT, Citi Field

Tommy Hanson, RHP____Johan Santana, LHP

Hanson owned a 2.44 ERA before his right shoulder discomfort became more painful after the All-Star break. This is his first Opening Day assignment and his first start since lasting just 3 1/3 innings against the Mets on Aug. 6.

After experiencing no setbacks during Spring Training, Mets ace Santana will start his first game since surgery to repair a torn anterior capsule in his left shoulder on Sept. 14, 2010. In five spring starts, Santana had a 3.44 ERA.

http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/PHI.png vs. http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/PIT.png
1:35 PM EDT, PNC Park

http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_136880.jpg____ http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_407853.jpg

Roy Halladay, RHP____Erik Bedard, LHP

Halladay has been everything fans could have imagined when the Phillies acquired him before the 2010 season. He won the 2010 NL Cy Young and finished second in the voting last season. He hopes to finally get a World Series ring in 2012.

Bedard makes his third Opening Day start -- his first since 2008, when he was with the Mariners -- as well as his NL debut. The Bucs' key offseason free-agent signing is hoping to have his first uninterrupted healthy season since 2006.

http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/WAS.png vs. http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/CHC.png
2:20 PM EDT, Wrigley Field

http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_544931.jpg____ http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_133225.jpg

Stephen Strasburg, RHP____Ryan Dempster, RHP

This will be Strasburg's first Opening Day assignment. He missed most of last season because he was recovering from Tommy John surgery. He had a 1.50 ERA in five September games. He is expected to pitch no more than 160 innings this season.

This will be Dempster's fourth Opening Day start, second with the Cubs. He's hoping for a better start. He had a 9.58 ERA in six April outings in 2011. He lost the season opener in 2011 to the Pirates, giving up six runs in 6 2/3 innings.

http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/TOR.png vs. http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/CLE.png
3:05 PM EDT, Progressive Field

http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_460069.jpg____ http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_475416.jpg

Ricky Romero, LHP____Justin Masterson, RHP

Romero is set to begin his second season as Toronto's No. 1 starter. The 27-year-old is coming off his most successful year in the big leagues, having gone 15-11 with a 2.92 ERA en route to his first All-Star appearance in 2011.

Coming off a breakout season, Masterson earned his first Opening Day start for Cleveland. The big sinkerballer went 12-10 with a 3.21 ERA in 2011 and heads into the season healthy after offseason surgery on his left shoulder.

http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/FLA.png vs. http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/CIN.png
4:05 PM EDT, Great American Ball Park

http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_279824.jpg____ http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_456501.jpg

Mark Buehrle, LHP____Johnny Cueto, RHP

The veteran left-hander makes his Miami debut after spending his entire career with the White Sox. Buehrle has a string of 11 straight seasons throwing at least 200 innings. He's 2-0, 0.60 ERA lifetime against the Reds.

Cueto had a 2.31 ERA in 24 starts and 156 innings last year after missing five weeks with right biceps/triceps issues. He also missed a couple of late-season starts. Cueto, 26, has looked decent in camp and will be making his first Opening Day start.

http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/LAD.png vs. http://rotoworld.com/img/MLB/teams/logos/SD.png

http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_477132.jpg____ http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_450172.jpg

Clayton Kershaw, LHP____Edinson Volquez, RHP

Kershaw, the staff ace and defending NL Cy Young winner, takes his second Opening Day start against the Padres, a team he beat three times without a loss in 2011.

Volquez, getting his second Opening Day start in as many years, said he was surprised to earn the nod this year, though he passed just about every test the team asked of him in spring. Volquez was obtained from Cincinnati in December for Mat Latos.

And he has awesome wording and metaphors.

I love listening to him, and there aren't many broadcasters I will say that about.
I was born in 1985, learned English fully around age 12-13 (1998). Never really cared for the announcing in baseball games until 2007 or 08.

His voice is classic, takes you back to older school baseball.

And he has awesome wording and metaphors.

He has the voice of an old boring man. I'm sure if I was 40 or 50 years old I would appreciate it, but I'm not.

I don't really care about announcers though. They're talking for 9 innings 150+ games a year (100ish in Scully's case). If you watch as much baseball as I do you get bored with all of them.

Most of the fans have already left. Jays fans probably make up 30% of the ones left.

Yeah it was pretty ******** to begin with. Chanting USA because 2 guys named "Luis Perez" (from the Dominican Republic) and "Shin-Soo Choo" (from South Korea) get into an almost-altercation. Then they shut up when a guy from Miami hits the home run.

All said, it was an incredibly entertaining game and we got to see every new addition to the team... the entire bullpen.

Jays and Indians game was the longest ever. Bautista got off to a great start going 3 for 4 with two walks, a sac-fly RBI and a homer. Justin Masterson's start makes me feel like I was right in guessing earlier in the offseason that he would become a legitimate ace by the end of the year. I know it's just one game but the guy started the season off by going 8 innings, allowing one run off of only two hits (the Bautista home run) and 1 walk against 11 K's. Gorgeous start.

Marlins starting the season 0-2.
