They lost to a community college team yesterday. How is this possible? They even had several starters in the lineup.

Norfolk isn't a Community College. They were in March Madness. That said, the Orioles do suck.

Norfolk is their AAA affiliate. What are you talking about?

I bet most D1 college teams would win at least 25-30 games a year in the pros. **** happens in baseball. If you put a 70 win team in the playoffs they'd probably win the World Series once every decade or so.

The Norfolk Tides are the AAA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.

Here is the write-up about the game on the Tides' homepage:

Sometimes the Cubs make me sad. Then I remember there are teams like the Orioles in Major League Baseball.

Yup. All it would take is a really good college lineup facing a bad fifth starter, which most teams have. A lot of college players are close to MLB ready.

The pitcher for the cc was on the Orioles pro roster.

Yes but the lineup was full fledged college players.

This is being overblown...Orioles got shutdown by their own pitching should be the story. Wada was fantastic and he's an Oriole, 5 innings, 1 run, 4 hits, 4 ks. Only blemish was a home run by JJ Hardy.

Yeah its still hilarious...but they lost to their own pitchers...

I'm not making it as big a deal as everyone else is making it out to be.

I just think it's comical that a college offense outscores a major-league offense, albeit by one-run.

^You should...lol.

Honestly though, I personally don't think we are as bad as many think if our young pitching takes a step forward, which is obviously a huge question mark. A Reimold/Hardy/Kakis/Jones/Wieters/Reynolds/Davis/Betemit/Andino lineup isn't bad at all, everything hinges on the pitching. Althought it's spring, the young guys are in better shape with Brady Anderson working with them and there velocities are up. We'll see.

Just wish we weren't in the AL East...

This is absolutely wrong. A college team is very lucky if they have two or three MLB ready players on their team - and those teams are the top 5 in all of college baseball.

weve been saying that for 10 years now... and now they expanded playoff teams. We would have loved to have a 1 game playoff with Roy Halladay on the mound

Yeah, them adding a playoff team helps, but still. Luckily the Orioles have money, but we won't spend it until we start showing we aren't that far behind the rest of the teams.

Well they are both in the opening day rotation. Wada and Hammel should both start for the O's this year.

Not sure on Wada in the rotation, we'll see. Arrieta/Hunter/Hammel/Matusz/Chen is currently the rotation, and when Britton comes back he could step in for the guy whose struggling if there is one.

Ok bro, we get it. Every thread that pertains to the Orioles all I've seen is this type of post from you. Franchises have had rough years, unfortunately we have one of the worst owner in all of sports, and it doesn't help we are in the same division as the Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays. Everything for the Orioles hinges on the young pitchers in Matusz, Arrieta, Tillman, Britton, and Chen. Even Hunter was ok in Texas a couple years ago and is only 25 years old. We have some talent, they just need to put it together.

Granted, we wouldn't have Furcal, but I am a major Hardy fan.

In baseball, anything can happen in a one game series.

If the Orioles played this team in a 162 season every game, and full benches and bullpens were required, they would probably win 100 plus times (maybe even 120+), and so would most MLB teams.
