Miami is definitely a title contender. For sure," Terry told the website when asked whether he'd be interested in joining the Heat. "(Team president) Pat Riley is a great guy and what he's done with the organization is tremendous.

"No question, they need a veteran shooter, a guy who can score besides LeBron (James) and (Dwyane Wade), and they know they can count on. I'm a guy that's been in this league 13 years, (averaging) 15 points a night, easy. Off the bench or the starting lineup, it doesn't matter. So I think I'd be an asset to them."

Terry didn't exactly ace this job interview. Wearing gold shoes to celebrate the title the Mavs clinched in Miami last summer, Terry had his worst shooting performance of the season, missing 9 of 10 field goal attempts during a three-point performance.

Terry had his request for a preseason contract extension fall on deaf ears. He is dealing with the reality that his dream of retiring in Dallas isn't likely to happen.

"My main goal was to come back and retire a Maverick," Terry told the website. "After no extension this past offseason, I figure it may be time for me to move on. But you never know& I would love to (continue) in a Maverick uniform, don't get me wrong. But we'll see what happens.

"They said they want me back. But you can say all you want, you got to show me. Like Jerry Maguire said, 'Show me the money.' "

usually i wouldn't reply but terry on this team would be so revoltingly unfair that its worth mentioning.

So much for competition in the NBA. If Nash and Terry go to the Heat I'll stop watching. Not hating, I just like watching competetive basketball, not a superteam demolishing everyone. Or they'll probably lose games to have fans believing they are beatable then stomp on everyone in the playoffs

Why? We have Mike Miller who's clearly a better rebounder and not a chucker. What we ****ing need is a center! We can even deal with Chalmers at PG.

I could maybe see Nash on the Heat. But I think Terry could get more from other teams and is no longer chasing a ring. I think he is saying this to try and scare Cuban to give him an offer. We know Cuban hated Miami.

I wouldn't want Terry on the Heat. He's one of my least favorite players in the NBA especially since he went to Dallas. I can't stand him. I'll gladly take Nash though. A center is more important than possibly adding Terry also.

If he's looking to sign with a contender wouldn't Chicago make more sense? He'd get more minutes, more shots, and he wouldn't be universally hated.

yea, terry on the bulls makes sense but thibs would be pissed with his defense.

If that happens, Dallas might as well consider rebuilding already. I doubt he goes anywhere considering they are probably going to get Deron.

I dont get it. Did the Heat win yet. OKC and Chicago are still playing better ball. Why does no one want to go there?

I guess finishing your career in Florida would be cool

just wait until the Heat win the championship this year

then sign nash and terry and win 4 in a row after the championship this year

so 5 titles in a row sounds about right

Why is this any different than when players say they would play for the lakers?

I don't recall anyone in recent history actually coming out to say that they want to play for the lakers. If it happens, it's because of trades or very unexpected free agent signings like Trevor Ariza leaving but getting Ron Artest the same day.

my question is can they afford to sign any of those players? they would have to take considerably less money or dump some of the players on their roster.

Actually most of them are just using the heat to get what they really want.

But if you actually know anything about the organization, it would be understandable so many guys want to come here

Haha..People need to take it easy. He's just using Miami as a leverage just like everyone else. Dalembert did it last off season. Nash, Terry are all doing the same. Terry doesn't fit the Heat IMO anyway. Nash is a different story though.

Just the way things are done. the professionalism. Knowing that pat riley is in charge and he knows how to run the organization. Knowing that micky arison is a great owner. The heat will do what it takes to win, not saying other teams wont but having riley as the team president/GM is really a great intangible to have.

I hate to use the knicks as an example, dolan has made quite a number of mistakes and im sure it has cost the knicks some free agents.

LOL... If anyone thinks this will happen your crazy. Terry despises the heat badly... He had more than a few choice words for them in the playoffs and on top of that I'm sure it's engraved in his head that they made fun of his best buddy Dirk in the finals last year. I know you have to let things go but trust me he hates them he will never join. This is the same tactic Nash is using leverage for a big deal. Can't 100% be positive on Nash but for sure Terry is playing the give me a new deal now card!

I like the Heat but I dont like Terry so I hope this doesn't happen.

I remember back in the day he ran into Joey Graham's (of the Raptors) shoulder and then fell down got up all dizzy and wanted to fight him as if Joey did something wrong. I'm not sure why it stuck with me so hard but Terry just looked like a total douche trying to intimidate people after he got embarrased. After that happend Mike James (I think it was) walked up to Terry and basically told him to back off or he'll beat his *** lol.

Please go to Miami. You classless, worthless, no defense, turnover machine, shot chucker, **** sucker.

I have NEVER liked Jason Terry, and I hope he goes to Miami. All the more reason for me to hate him.

Go be an over rated goat blower elsewhere. What a classless individual to QUIT on a team in the middle of a playoff spot hunt after you just won a title here and are well like by 95% of the fan base.

i hate the heat but seriously if the free agents wants to win a title then miami is the right choice for them as i believe that they have the biggest chance of winning it all. yeah okc, chicago are championship contenders too but miami would be better with nash, terry, etc. though they wont be able to play as much still they would win more.

tcav701
03-31-2012, 09:14 AM
The heat should ignore the Center position again this off season and use the MLE on another backup.

P.S. no player is going to take a 50-75% (Terry,Nash) paycut to play for Miami or anyone else.

godolphins
03-31-2012, 10:16 AM
Jason Terry and Steve Nash will not take a paycut to sign with the Heat. Of course a lot of players would love to play for the Heat but when they finally realize that they're going to have to take a huge paycut to sign with the Heat they'll take their talents elsewhere.

Remember when Samuel Dalembert said this last year:

Sacramento center Samuel Dalembert — a possibility for the Heat’s midlevel exception this summer (if there is one in the new labor deal) — told us last week, “It would be nice to play here [in Miami]. I see myself fitting in well with this team. They need someone to block shots, rebound. I can get lobs as an athletic big man. Some of their centers are at the tail end.” Dalembert, 29, then had 18 points and 13 rebounds — above his career averages (8.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.9 blocks).
http://www.iamagm.com/news/2011/02/28/samuel.dalembert.can.see.himself.signing.miami.sum mer

That guy is in Houston, making more than double the mid level exception(for tax paying teams).

The MLE would be better used on a center.
