"I thought we were going to get Gasol, Bynum & Kobe. But they turned down the second-round draft pick we offered. "

All jokes aside, I get why Boston didn't make any moves. There was really nothing nice out there this deadline that could make them younger and better. Ray Allen and KG are both nice expiring deals, and they're still very good players.

You don't make a deal just to make a deal.

Ainge put everybody on the trading block and obviously got no offers he thought would make the team better. Doc has a great sense of humour about it ;-)

Seriously though, that team would be so stacked! Could you imagine KG and Bynum starting in the front court with Gasol eating up all their back up minutes? Move Kobe to SF with Ray Allen at shooting guard and Rondo dishing the ball and PP backin up Kobe and Allen? I'd pay to watch that team.

Exactly. It makes more sense to let them expire than it does to take back long term salary that ties up the cap and makes you good enough to prevent the total rebuild needed to get title worthy again.

I would have agreed to the trade if it was a late 2nd. Anything earlier than that is not worth it for the Lakers.
