Wow this one is shocking.

JJ Hickson has completed a buyout with the Kings, league source tells Y!
https://twitter.com/#!/WojYahooNBA/status/181840708561416192

- Hickson just turned 23
- Sacramento traded Casspi & a future 1st Rounder for him after he averaged 15/10 and 19.5/12.3 to end the season in Cleveland last year although he butted heads with Byron Scott

Cant believe Sacramento is letting him go for nothing.

Some team is going to pick him up for the cheap and get a good, young player.

He's young and athletic but he's not the player everybody thinks he is. He hasn't done anything for Sac. Maybe he just never wanted to be here or something.

He's having a horrible season and really couldn't find himself getting much time to prove himself in that rotation and that roster but IMO he still has some trade value oh well nice low risk possible high reward player for a team like OKC.

Wow, wasn't he the starter in the beginning of the year?

I believe so.

He struggled to fit under Westphal's coaching style and play next to Cousins because hes not a good defender. Sacramento was trying to trade him but I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have gotten back at least a protected late 1st rounder or 2012 2nd round pick for him.

For a guy who could average 19 PPG 12 RPG as a 22 year old, there has to be a very good market out there for him as long as a coach knows how to develop him.

Would love to see him go to the 76ers or Mavs.

Seems to have some head issues since 2 teams have gave up on him so early. Nonetheless a very athletic big with high upside if he can get his head right.

Id love to have him on the Knicks. Young, athletic, big men who have already posted 19 and 12 at a time in their careers usually don't just get let loose like this.

He probably ends up some where like Boston though

Yeah he's got the talent, he just could never find his footing with the Kings. I'd love to have him back up Ibaka.

Nets for sure, they need a backup big for Lopez/Humphries. And they better round out that team soon with the time ticking on Deron.

Lakers should look into it, specially with the fixation they have to trade pau , theyll try again in the summer.

Heat may be interested.

If he makes it thru waivers, Heat would likely have interest in Hickson. Tho he's just another PF & they need a C. Very close w/LeBron.

What am I missing here? When did Hickson ever average 19/12? His best year was 14/9 on 46% FG when the Cavs were forcefeeding him the ball. Did he do it once? C'mon, Adam Morrison got 30pts in a game once.

It should tell everyone something that Hickson couldn't get minutes on one of the worst teams in the NBA. He plays absolutely no defense, terrible hands, and selfish on offense.

He's been in the doghouse because he's sucked. He's still young with a boatload of talent, so I wouldn't be surprised to see many teams willing to take a flier on him. Just last season he was pretty damn good. Maybe he just needs a new setting.

wow wat a turnaround Cle wouldnt trade JJ for Amare man wat a mistake. Lebron N Amare most likely would have won a title that year n Lebron would have resigned with the cavs . Which mean Wade pro would have went to Chicago n bosh too N miami pro would have signed Boozer. Chalmers,Beasley n Boozer would have been miami's big 3...........WOW thank GOD

he was also playing on a terrible team who really has no identity. he put up 13 and 8 in under 30 minutes in cleveland on decent percentages. he has talent, he needs a team to utilize him and get the most out of his talent.

JasonJohnHorn
03-19-2012, 07:08 PM
I am curious at the numbers he's been putting up this season. I'm sure last season's number were a little inflated because whatever he scored was in a losing effort, but he put in some really good minutes when James was still a Cav and he was fighting for minutes. I thought he had some real potential. NY would be a good destination for him, or maybe even LA (Lakers or the Clippers).

The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns have emerged as frontrunners for potential free agent J.J. Hickson, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Suns general manager Lance Blanks was one of the executives responsible for drafting Hickson for the Cavaliers.

This would be a great pickup for the Warriors. I think the Warriors have the advantage between them & the Suns, because it's pretty close to Sacramento, and were closer to being a perenial playoff team next season. Our lineup for next season is looking pretty solid.
