View Full Version : Which Big Three Would You Want?

I know the Heat are a dynamite team with Lebron, Wade, and Squash, but the Thunder has to be competing with them- Durant, Westbrook, and Harden.

Right now, with playoffs coming soon, which big three would you want?

Lakers big three all day over Miami's.

Bosh is soft as hell, Lebron has a 4th quarter mental block phobia and Wade is the only dude I would trust if I'm a heat fan.

Kobe is a superhero and insane in the clutch. Plus the experience comes into play big time. Gasol and Bynum are very talented big men as well.

We have a terrific big 3 in Kobe-Pau-Bynum, but a horrible supporting cast. Worst bench in the NBA, and we've had the worst production at the pg spot and sf position in the NBA...also among the worst 3 point shooting teams in the NBA

Big 3s aren't even in style anymore anyway. All about building teams top to bottom. If 1 or 2 of your big 3s have off games then you are in bad shape.

I blame the Celtics for the big 3 craze. They won the championship the first year they decided to throw a big 3 together and then every team thought that was the model for success. That rarely happens and Boston had a pretty deep team outside of that big 3.

I like OKC and hate Miami but if I have to pick a big 3, I'll pick Wade, his queen and Bosh without a doubt. OKC is not just a good team because of Durant, Westbrook and Harden. They play a major factor but they have key role players that fit in their system well.

In that order. Gasol and Bynum may not be elite, but considering that they're the best front court in basketball in a league that doesn't have a lot of quality bigs I gotta go with them over Miami.

That's ranking big threes only, as a team Miami and okc have a lot more overall tallent.

Right now, it's hard to choose. Bosh is wildly inconsistent. A PF playing 35 mins a game barely averaging 8 rebounds is a joke.

But I would take Lebron/Wade simply cause their defense is much better than Durant/Westbrook

I think a lot of that has to do with who else is rebounding with him. Lebron is probably the best rebounder for his position, and Wade isn't too shabby either for a guard. Bosh was getting 10-11 boards a game in Toronto, and I think that speaks more to his rebounding. While its not tops in the league, he's not a joke of a rebounder.

Yea he really is. He doesn't put bodies on guys often, he doesn't battle down low. Can you imagine how much better the Heat would be if he controlled the boards and then Wade/Lebron could just run and he dishes out? Instead Bosh gets manhandled down low, and shows no fight down there. Getting 10-11 boards in Toronto was a case of being on a bad team and had inflated numbers. Not to mention Toronto probably missing a ton of shots.

Haslem plays 10 less MPG and averages the same amount. It's all about hustle & heart and Bosh does not have that when it comes to banging down low and controlling the boards

Rather have? OKC's. They're young and still improving. Scary how good they're going to be based on how good they already are.

Right now? Heat still. Though Ibaka is the leagues #1 shot-blocker by a mile and a force who's impactful enough that some say he's their 3rd best player (he isn't. Harden's unbelievable. Better than Bosh right now imo).

Westbrook's still a bit too out of control at times (and takes a few too many questionable jumpers) for me to have him over Wade. Wade's a guy we know can dominate a series in the Finals. That's as valuable as it gets.

Well, it is a 'brainer' considering many people think KD is #2 in the league at this point and Westbrook is better than Wade while Harden is better than Bosh. I don't entirely agree, but it's a worthy question.

I'd say the Thunder have two top ten's and a top 15.

What stats? Per-game numbers not adjusted for Spo limiting Wade's minutes? Maybe.

But Wade's PER (#2 in NBA) and WinShares/48 (top 5 in NBA) along with his 82games 'simple rating' are all significantly higher than Westbrook's (which are all very good himself). To go along with Wade being the more efficient scorer (56.7% TS% for this season/career to Westbrook's 54.6% career high this year) and I'd say it's clear to me that Wade's stats are better. And that Wade in general is just better. Wade's arguably a top 2-3 player in the league.

Everything in the playoffs slows down. The ONLY Big 3 that overwhelmingly favors is the Lakers.

Thier frontline is rediculously talented and has the best mix of finesse (Gasol), power (Bynum), and of course, Kobe. More importantly, they are each battle tested and have won the chip multiple times.

Half court sets RULE the playoffs, which is the lakers strength, and you're a fool if you would pick any other big 3 over them.

it's hard to put a 6th man into a big 3 discussion though. i'd put ibaka with westy and durant. and i already said i'd pick the heat, i just think durant is a better scorer than lebron is, but lebron has the edge defensively.
