The Blazers will waive 2007 No. 1 pick Greg Oden to make room for trade acquisitions, sources say, confirming reports.

It's unbelievable what happened to this guy. He has only played in 82 games in the 5 seasons of his career. He missed the entire first season, played 61 in his second, broke his leg or something in his third and has missed the past two.

And he was supposed to be the next Duncan.

If he ever gets back on track, whoever gets him is going to get a great talent for very cheap.

Makes too much sense for it not to happen.

Whes he gets out on the floor next season, hes an instant upgrade to Joel Anthony/Dexter Pittman.

LOL at people thinking he will play for an NBA team. He needs to take atleast 2 years off and try and rehab mentally. Find a doctor and team of trainers that know how to get him healthy.

I could see him going to sign with Phoenix eventually when they begin rebuilding.

Greg Oden won't even be able to pass a physical until February at earliest of 2013. Why waste time talking about where he will go next?

He's basically a non-factor NBA wise until the 2013-14 season.

Feel so bad for him, genuine good guy who showed plenty of promise when he was actually on the court. The league missed out on an extremely marketable player, and potentially a multiple All Star. Imagine the battles that Oden could've had with Bynum in the west, and posssibly Oden vs. Howard in the NBA Finals.

Sixers could really use him if he can ever get healthy.

ok so basically who pays for his medical bills now ?

if he's injuried is it the teams responsibility to rehab him ?

so now that he's off the team he has to find his own doctors and pay the bills ? ouch.......!

The Pacers should go after him. They have the open roster and cap space and desperately need a backup big man.

If he signs anywhere its going to be with the Phoenix Suns. We got the best trainers, if we can keep Nash, Hill and kept Shaq and currently under construction of Michael Redd, then we can do the young Greg Oden.

I still have a dream that Oden will some day regain at least 80% health and come to Philly and absolutely lock down our paint defensively. If he ever gets back into shape and can give a team 15-20 mins a night to in the begginging he'd be an extremely impactful low risk high reward player.

Imagine if they had picked KD..... oh man...

Imagine if Oden was able to stay healthy along with Brandon Roy? Oh man oh man. Could have been a dynasty. Oden would be a top 3 C with D that could have possibly been better than Dwight's and decent enough offense to qualify him as a stellar #3 option.

This, the Phoenix training staff has ben known to work miracles, and I could definitely see Oden in Arizona after a year or two of intense rehab and strengthening.

He needs to take next year off also and then comeback after that, I dont see a team trying to pick him up now at all, Hope he show something because he was decent when he did play.

This. Phoenix has the staff to take care of Oden. They are the best in the league at that sort of thing.

First time I've ever heard something like this.

Take 2 years off of his career to "rehab mentally"?

Yes, because its his mindset thats caused his injuries.

The guy got his latest arthroscopic knee surgery over and done with because he wants to rehab and get back out on the court. Basketball players love to play basketball, and a lot of these guys who are passionate about the game don't know how to take it when they can't do what they love.

Oden will be back by January of 2013 as he rehabs throughout the rest of the year. Now that Portland isn't there to baby him through his recovery, he can seek outside doctors and an independent training facility to work on his return.
