People are so ill informed when it comes to Deron.

Just yesterday he was talking about how he loves it here and is loving all the new endorsement deals he is getting. Also speaking about how he has an excellent relationship with management and with Avery...

I would not be surprised at all if Deron told the Nets to go after Crash

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is reporting the New Jersey Nets and Portland Trail Blazers are “close” on a deal to send forward Gerald Wallace to Jersey.

Considering Portland’s desire to remove Wallace’s $9.5 million option year in 2012-13 from their cap, the deal could be for the $10.9 million expiring contract of Mehmet Okur and a draft pick, but that’s speculation at this point.

I'd rather be on a team with a lot of upside vs an older team in Dallas. There's a lot of questions about them heading into next year. Plus It will be easier to recruit people to want to play in Brooklyn than in Dallas.

Of course he is going to say that.... he is under contract. You guys took a risk trading for him in the first place and this is a consequence your team and the FO needs to deal with.

Hard to say, Dallas is in rebuilding mode, so they will get younger and will have plenty of cap space to land another all star or even a super star, Dirk is the only one on the roster that will play all of next year. I expect them to rid themselves of Marion and Haywood either by trade or amnesty. Plus you have Cuban, arguably the best owner in sports. D-Will will be the home town hero and take over as the man on the team...

NJ is gonna have the new arena, and Brooklyn will be very attractive to other players. Toss up IMO

We went from thinking NJ got a steal, to thinking they got robbed.

I'm shocked NJ would trade a top 10 pick in a STACKED draft for an overpaid, declining 30 year old SF who can leave this summer.

As it stands now NJ is the 7th worst team record wise, now with Wallace they'll probably finish strong and end up 9th or 10th worst. So chances are they won't get a top 3 pick, but more likely a top 10 pick which would go to POR.

This draft is stacked to like the 5-7 pick after that I'm not all that impressed so if the Nets can get hot down the stretch which isn't completely out of the question (need Lopez back ASAP) that pick might be closer to #10 or #11 then #4 which I could probably live with.

It has been known that Cuban has a good relationship with his players. Sure, Prokhorov is richer than Cuban but he is not as attached to the game as to Mark is. Besides, he has a great chance of becoming the Russian president. If that happens, I doubt if he will still have time for his team.

I bet there isn't a player out of the lotto you can name off the top of your head. The draft is overrated. Several players have already stated they are staying. And with their record they were likely to end up with a pick close to the Houston pick they already have.

Dallas is not so hot either as of late. Outside of it being his home town, why would he go to Dallas?

Play with Dirk and a solid supporting cast and the opportunity to win, which is something that New Jersey obviously does not provide. What else is there?

This.

How in the world can you like this pick?

We aren't making the playoffs, not with 22 games left and Deron and Brook sitting for most of them.

You realize we finished 12-70 with the worst record and got the 3RD PICK. Now we're going to win some extra games that we shouldn't, lose that lotto pick, and most likely lose Deron to Free Agency as well.

Even if Deron leaves, we could've had Lopez, Brooks, and a top-5/6 pick moving forward. This is an AWFUL TRADE.

Congrats to Portland fans. You guys got a lottery pick for a salary dump.

Win what? Dallas can't offer more than NJ when you consider they are 7th in the west, and still have to clear space to sign him. Why don't you wait to see what Jersey does in the off-season before you react prematurely.

I was livid too but when you really think about it is it really that bad?

If they win some games down the stretch and the pick is in the 10-12 range are you really going to be that upset? If they lose and it's in the 4-5 range then yes but we already in the sixth spot and 2-3 team ahead of us are tanking. We can get this pick into the 10-12 range. I mean after the first 5-6 picks this draft isn't anything special and multiple guys (MKG, Drummond) already have hinted at staying.

Hell if we get Bulls lucky and win the draft then even better but the more I look at the trade I'm not . I'm not thrilled either but not pissed. The schedule is favorable down the stretch so win some games and hurt the pick.

I think the #7 pick in this years draft is just worth alot more than Gerald Wallace. We're talking about a declining 30 year old that you have to pay $10m for.

its been a while since Wallace put up 17 & 8, he's a career 13 & 6 guy. Although his value is in his defense, but he's clearly lost some of his explosiveness.

Obviously the draft is a crapshoot, there have been some absolute studs taken with the #7 pick, and alot of busts as well.

To me though that pick is just worth alot more than Wallace.

Like I said early in the year, NJ should have never wasted their cap space on Okur, they would have been able to offer $8 or $9m to Wilson Chandler who would have been a much better fit. Not to mention they could have kept that lottery pick.

You seem to be making a decent case other than the fact Drummond is probably not coming out. Just thought I'd let you know that.

He's already said he wanted to stay another year, and with the way things are shaping up with how he played this year, and in the tournament, he has like a 0% chance of going 1st or 2nd. He could wait a year and be a lock for #1 overall pick, so that's what he'll probably do.

I wonder how long it is before we find Billy King floating in the Hudson river after doing this deal.

Please do....

With a frontcourt with Petro, Shelden Williams, Jordan Williams and when healthy that bum that gets 5rpg SOMEONE has to put up numbers. This is the ****ING NBA, every professional team gets 90ppg and 40rpg.

Did you ever watch Kris Humphries play? He goes after every rebound and is having a very good season.

His first good season at the age of 26 and yet, he's still playing worse than: Love, Blake, Aldridge, Dirk, Pau, Bosh, JSmoove, Amare, Millsap, Garnett, ZBo, DLee and Boozer who've sustained that success for much longer despite the age; and Ilyasova and Ryan Anderson have had breakout seasons, both better than Hump, and both are younger... He's having a good season, considering that it's him, for anyone listed above (besides maybe Amare), his stats would be worse than right now.

jmoney85

Hump is not a "very good PF", in fact he's not even Top 15:

1. Love
1b. Blake
1c. Aldridge
.
4. Dirk
5. Pau
6. Bosh
.
7. JSmoove not a true PF... dont even know why hes on here
8. Amare terrible knees... underperforming and one of the worst contracts in the league, doesnt play defense
9. Millsap arguable ... im gonna go with a push or give him the nudge
10. Garnett old... if he was half the player he used to be than the celtics wouldnt be riding the 7th seed
11. ZBo
12. DLee not better than hump
13. Boozer not better than hump
14. Ilyasova not better than hump
15. Ryan Anderson- not better than hump

The PF spot is the strongest position in the league and all those guys are putting up better numbers (not just per game) than Hump and all of them play on better teams. He's top 20 at best, would you really want to overpay for a guy like that or bring in a guy on a ROOKIE contract with crazy upside. This class is loaded with PFs (Davis, Drummond, Sullinger, Moultrie, Robinson, etc), the Nets would be stupid to reinvest in Hump if they get a top 3 pick... Some Nets fans don't do themselves any favors.

there you go

jmoney85

you also have pau at #5

his numbers are virtually the same as humps except he averages about 3 more ppg but averages 3 more shots per game

That made me chuckle! Humphries is no K.Love, and K.Love's Minnys are winning! Hump isn't bad but he isn't that good also! He's a hustle guy and he's comparable to Luke Walton on those Lakers championship days, that's all he can be...

Ugh; you're really gonna make me do this? Fine, here we go:

These are Hump's stats for the season:
18.2 PER
.119 WS48
111 Ortg
107 Drtg
.550 TS%
.496 eFG%
18.5 TRB%
6.7 AST%
1.2 STL%
3.0 BLK%
13.6 TOV%

Now this is the PFs you listed he is better than:

JSmoove (plays PF, guards PF, ergo is a PF; if you don't want to count him, take his teammate Horford instead)
20.3 PER
.132 WS48
99 Ortg
95 Drtg
.495 TS%
.473 eFG%
15.7 TRB%
19.0 AST%
2.3 STL%
4.4 BLK%
12.2 TOV%

Millsap
23.1 PER
.193 WS48
116 Ortg
103 Drtg
.551 TS%
.504 eFG%
16.6 TRB%
12.4 AST%
2.9 STL%
1.8 BLK%
9.5 TOV%

KG (despite being older, he is still playing at a higher level than Hump)
20.6 PER
.183 WS48
107 Ortg
95 Drtg
.568 TS%
.519 eFG%
15.7 TRB%
16.6 AST%
1.7 STL%
2.8 BLK%
12.6 TOV%

DLee

.554 TS%
.511 eFG%
15.1 TRB%
12.1 AST%
1.4 STL%
0.8 BLK%
12.3 TOV%

Boozer
19.2 PER
.177 WS48
108 Ortg
96 Drtg
.547 TS%
.528 eFG%
15.3 TRB%
10.3 AST%
1.8 STL%
0.9 BLK%
11.3 TOV%

Ilyasova
20.0 PER
.171 WS48
116 Ortg
104 Drtg
.558 TS%
.511 eFG%
17.9 TRB%
6.7 AST%
1.2 STL%
2.0 BLK%
9.7 TOV%

Ryan Anderson
22.4 PER
.246 WS48
126 Ortg
103 Drtg
.595 TS%
.555 eFG%
14.2 TRB%
5.8 AST%
1.5 STL%
0.9 BLK%
5.8 TOV%

All of these players play a more prominent role on better teams and do it more efficiently than Humphries. He may be better at a couple of things than a few of them, but they're all definitely better overall players.

Oh so now you want to go back to arguing with stats?... Well his shooting percentage is actually worse than both Anderson and Ilyasova when you account for the 3pt line (eFG%). I'll admit his rebounding numbers are better than everyone you said he was better than, but in their defense, they don't play on the 4th worst defensive rebounding team in the league and they also make up for it with other qualities (ie: Smith with his defense and passing).

As for Boozer, he's easily the best PF on his team, unless you consider Noah as a PF, in which case, I'd like to say he too is better than Humphries.
