The Celtics have offered Paul Pierce to the Blazers, according to a report from ESPN. It is unclear who Boston sought in return.

The Blazers are not interested due to the $32 million remaining on Pierce's contract over the next two seasons.

Portland is preserving their cap flexibility with the hopes of re-signing Nicolas Batum this offseason.

Cant post link, Chris Broussard reporting it

key words: what he has done

ainge knows he needs to blow the celtics up; pierce is the player that needs to go if they want to open up options.

(allen + garnett are FA, rondo's contract is reasonable)

Oh please... by far the higest paid player in Celtic history with one title and he needed a massive hand to get it.

GM's shouldn't pay for what has been done, but what will be done.

While Boston Celtics boss Danny Ainge has said Rajon Rondo will not be traded, he is still actively seeking offers for members of the Big Three. The Celtics offered Paul Pierce to Portland -- I'm not sure what they asked for in return -- but the Blazers were not interested because of the two years and $32 million remaining on Pierce's contract.

Well if Celtics fans can careless about him, me as a Laker fan feel the same. :)

Who else in NBA history hasn't needed a massive hand in winning a championship?

I like some loyalty to be shown. Pierce deserves to retire as a Celtic. I don't like him, but give him some respect (he stuck around after that tank season -- when they tried to get Oden/Durant).

You're very ungrateful. Pierce couldn't do it by himself

This whole loyalty thing is bs. Its a business. Just like players no longer have loyalty for their teams (lebron, dwight, etc..) why should teams have loyalty for players.

Boston should do what is best for their franchise. I dont feel sorry one bit for Piece, he has 50+ million dollars in his bank account. He'll be fine. I'm sure he understands the nature of the business.

Wait where are the defenders of loyalty? Loyalty goes both ways it doesn't matter what Pierce has done for them atm this is a business.

Blazers flat out say no to a Pierce deal but are ready to jump on a Steve Blake deal. Somebody get me a GM for the Blazers before the retarts in the front office trade Aldridge and Batum for a 2nd round pick. :sigh

What value are you guys getting from Pierce? Not much, you aren't a playoff team now so might as well build for the future instead of offering up the gems you have now. I guarantee The Celts wanted Wes Matthews in the return.

cant see who the c's would be trading pierce for from portland. outside of matthews/batum, i cant see what else the c's would be interested in for rebuidling.

He'll get his number in the rafters, and his own day. At the end of the year, he'll be just under $150M in lifetime earnings from the Celts - that's a boatload of loyalty given the fact he has a contract and this is a big business not the ma and pa operation back when Walter Brown owned the Celts.

Unless the Celts are getting a young tasty piece and/or a pick - to take back the obvious boat anchor contract it would take to make the trade legal I can't see it. The unhampered expiring will be worth more to them when it comes around. Allen, Rondo, and Bass are the only guys that can be dealt, and I'd trade the first two for the right packages,

You guarantee Matthews, done deal, minus the contract of Pierce's Id love to see Batum at the 2 spot and Pierce at the 3. Some Blazers fans like his hustle and all but Matthews isnt all that!

Im used to looking to the future as a Blazers fan and the Blazers are heading for a rebuild again. Aldridge, Batum and E Williams are the players the Blazers will keep, everybody else has a price.

I'm sure that the Celtics would want Batum back, so Pierce and Batum playing together wouldn't happen, doesn't matter anyway since the blazers don't want to take on his contract.

Yeah, can't see Boston trading Pierce. More or less he has been a huge part of that team the past few seasons. If he goes then it's just as well that the whole team go.
