View Full Version : Howard eyes Miami Heat

Dwight Howard will have interest in joining the Clippers and Heat, according to two sources.

Howard, who reportedly prefers to enter free agency, would need to go to those teams via trade due to cap issues.

Let the Chris Bosh trade rumors begin.

howard wouldn't be a good fit with clippers unless you want two athletic bigs that can only catch lobs and get points in the paint, plus you got no consistent perimeter shooters other than cp3

at this point i dont think i would even want him on the team. he says he doesn't want to sign with a team for a longer period of time..that just means he has no loyalty at all. at any time he could just not give a **** and thats not what Miami is about.

Bosh, Cole, Pittman, and a first would be the best they could probably get for him. If I were Orlando though, unless I'm getting Blake Griffin or Bynum and Gasol, that's probably the best deal they'd get. Heat would win the next 5 championships if that happened

Hellcrooner
03-12-2012, 01:21 PM
if im Miami im offering Lebron.
IM serious, Lebron IS INDEED the best player in the league but simply put a team o f Wade, Bosh and Howard simply GRANTS several rings because there is only one front court that can Match Miamis, and that rival roster is not getting to finals without a pg, a sf and the crappiest bench in the league.

Yup, same here. He always seemed like one of those players that just liked playing basketball and making other people laugh; a good character.

Now it's clear he's just about the fame. Funny, because it's almost guaranteed that he receives less scrutiny than Lebron too. Basically the same scenario as far as I'm concerned.

03-12-2012, 01:51 PM
I could see why he might like the Clippers, but they don't have anything to give back. They're not giving up Blake or CP3.

As for the Heat, this makes no sense at all. First of all, the Heat aren't in dire need of an upgrade. They went to the finals last year. It's not like they struggled or lost in the finals 5x. Why mess with what you have, at least at the moment. Also, Wade, LeBron and Bosh all are friends and orchestrated the move to Miami. You can bet the other 2 would be pissed if one left. You're also not getting helped with draft picks because the Heat will probably be #29 or above for years.

Then on Dwight's side, he wants to be the man. Not happening in Miami, he automatically becomes the 3rd option. In terms of endorsements, he's still going to be behind LeBron and Wade as well. And then there's the "nice guy" persona. If that's true, I don't see him bolting one Florida team for another. While a LeBron/Wade/Dwight lineup would be MUCH better than a LeBron/Wade/Bosh lineup (at least on paper) it just doesn't make sense for either party here.

Magic would ask for Wade or LeBron

Agreed. I don't think, as a Magic GM or owner, that Bosh is nearly enough to let Howard go to a division rival.
If I'm orlando, I would just ask for one of Lebron or Wade. If they say no then move on.
Clippers, to me, would be silly to not accept a Blake Griffin & Jordan for Howard and Anderson type of deal

Anthony's already a pretty good defensive C, he's not exactly where the Heat are attacked.

And I really don't think Dwight would average much more. He only averages 2 more PPG currently, and that's as the main guy on his team. He'd grab more boards, but that'd also come at the expense of the rest of the guys like Lebron.

I really don't see it changing a ton by losing Bosh and gaining Dwight except more media scrutiny and an easier way for teams to try and control close games late by just attacking Dwight.

I don't think anyone is saying that. But put Dwight on that team and his usage is going to drop massively, unless you think Lebron and Wade are going to stop shooting? Especially when teams start hacking Dwight to put him on the FT line and he misses, those other two aren't going to be feeding him play after play.

Orlando would get much worse, but I don't think it would make Miami much better. Especially offensively.

winning 27 titles over a 111 year history is different than monopolizing three of the top four players in the league, at the same time, in their primes. they'd be hallow championships. miami is probably the best team without howard. if the heat land him, it would sour the competitive nature of the sport to a point beyond enjoyment.

Are you kidding? It would be just another reason to party down here in Miami ;)

you guys don't need another reason to party. :)

Let's just say Wade for Howard happened straight up...

Chalmers/Cole > Fish/Blake
Battier/Miller > Metta/Barnes
Bosh < Gasol ... but only slightly.
Howard > Bynum

The Heat would be a better version of the Lakers in just about every way imaginable.

I'm starting to dislike Dwight. Such a diva.

This, I have lost so much respect for this guy, he is an idiot, probably the reason he didn't go to college, he was too stupid, wouldn't have made the grades and would have been kicked out after the first year.

The guy changes his mind every couple of days, he wants to be a copy cat just like LBJ and Wade or Amare and Melo, guys that only want to go to big markets, have no loyalty and think they are way better than they actually are. Don't get me wrong he is the best C in the league but its all due to size not skill on the offensive end, just like Griffin, if he wasn't an athletic freak he would be a below average player.

A similar sentiment was articulated the night LeBron decided to join the Miami HEAT. Has the NBA's competitive balance gone to hell since? Hardly.

And whether or not these hypothetical championships would be seen as "hallow" [I assume you mean "hollow"] by the rest of the league, HEAT fans would likely feel the same way Chicago fans felt in 1995-96 when the Bulls burned a hole through the league on their way to 72 wins and their fourth title in six years--they would enjoy every second of it while not giving a damn what modicum of significance other fan bases ultimately attribute to their favorite team's successes.

I have yet to meet a Bulls fan who's apologetic for having had the best player in the history of the NBA on his/her favorite team. The same can be said for fans of the the Showtime Lakers, the 1998 New York Yankees, and any other team that accumulated talent far superior to what their competitors could muster.

I understand this is getting annoying but I don't understand the hate for the guy. Where did he ever change his mind. You guys read these "sources" stories and take them as fact. Meanwhile not one of these things has a quote from Dwight's mouth. The guy asked to be traded or lose him for nothing and nothing has changed. He can want to go wherever he wants.

The only thing he did was make a few nice comments about other places like anyone else would do and these horrible writers ran with it. The guy wants to play with D-Will in Brooklyn everyone knows that and nothing has changed. All he's doing is basically keeping his mouth shut and winning games for his team, the hate is undeserved.

You only hate him cause he shot down your team. I don't blame you for that cause nobody likes rejection.

In Dwight's defense, MJ got a rookie stud in Scottie Pippen in his 4th season; in comparison, Dwight's best teammate throughout his career is between Nelson, Hedo, Shard or grandpa Vince... Not quite the same situation here.

seriously tho he is a liability from the line.. the few times ive seen him this year he has played awful in the fourth quarter.. and to me all it really seems like is that he fills up the highlights.. when it comes to winning games what does he actually do for you?? he can fill up the stat sheet from night to night but with him and CP3 they should be killing teams!!! and quite frankly they aren't

They don't have a lot of other guys who can score apart from griffin, paul, and mo. Everyone else is incredibly inconsistent. A lot of nights paul doesn't even take shots until the end of the first half. I'm pretty sure it's coaching, because most of the time blake and paul just throw the ball back and forth while the rest of the time stands around like idiots.

It's not just that griffin jumps really high and shyte, he muscles through people and drags them along while he throws it down. He's got some quick post moves and can score at will it seems why he gets the ball in his spots. It isn't always pretty but it's effective (for now). Yeah Kevin love is better, don't know why that came up, not gonna debate that one.

love yer sig btw

If this is true I losing more and more respect for him. Wheres the fire to be great. These new age stars aside from Durant and Rose are a bunch of *******. They all want things handed to them. There not asking for or demanding help. There just jumping ship and trying to swim to the most loaded team they can find. Pathetic!!!

So now that Heat is in the mix Dwight is a ****? And as a Laker fan you want him on the Lakers when they already have 3 allstars on their roster as well? Hypocrisy at its finest. Jesus...

Where did I say as stacked? The point is Kobe-Pau-Bynum trio is not far off or someone could say better chemistry-wise. Both trio have 6 allstars. So if you love Dwight to join one and bash if he wants to join the other that's not hypocrisy? If a fan of any other team not named LA, OKC, Bulls, Heat said this I wouldn't quote that laker poster.

Three team trade:

Orlando gets Pau Gasol and Bynum

Miami gets Dwight

Lakers get Lebron

Orlando gets what they been wanting from the Lakers, Miami gets there dominating center and Kobe gets to teach Lebron how to play in the fourth and make game winning shots. Lol

First off miss me with that woe is me everybody hates the heats crap, leave that ish for the birds. My point is he's a ***** for not having passion or drive to aleast wanna go to a team that would make the road atleast alittle challenging. He's trying to go to a fully loaded team that already has 3 proven franchise players (unless one or two are traded for him) two of which are considered by many as top five. I would feel the same if the trade with the Thunder went through or a trade with my team the Lakers if it were to be a straight up for Bynum. I dont want him in purple and gold and you can look through my posts and see that. I think he's showing that he's weak mentaly and a weak mind crumbles on the big stage which Lebron has proven to this point in his career.

Running to a team with one star is like moving in with a employeed girlfriend trying to make it a two income household and splitting the bills making it alittle easier on both which isnt bad. Running to a team with two stars is like staying with a man and his wife becuase you cant handle basic living and you want everything handed to you. If he were to somehow go to the Heat in free agency thats Like a employeed man, wife, and older son taking you in which is pathetic to the max.

And again about the Lakers. We have a slowley declining franchise (but still top two in the league imo) superstar, a young star still developing, and a post allstar on his decline but still very capable and better than most.

Heat have three primed franchise players. So dont try to compare the two teams and call any Lakerfan a hyprocrite for wanting Dwight it just dosent fit.

Has anybody been paying attention these past two months, he wants to go to Brooklyn. You're not now seriously saying he's taking the easy road. Howard doesn't want Miami, Miami wants Howard.

Everyone ripped him for wanting the Nets saying he didn't care about winning and just wanted money or whatever crap they're spewing. I give him credit for trying to form his own path in Brooklyn instead of going to LA or Miami. Brooklyn has a chance to win with him being the face of the franchise (which he admits he wants to be) and he's taking a path that nobody saw coming. He should be applauded, not vilified like LBJ.

No, miami doesn't need howard, the report was howard would be open to signing with miami, which means he would play here...

Nothing said miami is looking into howard

Oh your right the "sources" said so. I agree Miami doesn't need Dwight but if they could swap him for Bosh you don't think they would pull the trigger?

I didn't see a quote from Dwight saying he would sign in Miami and until I do I don't believe any of these BS "sources" articles.

Fine he's open to signing with a team that can't sign him, great article.

No I never heard of that before ;)

He's not going to Miami and I don't need Ken Berger or Steven A to tell me that. The guy that wants to be the man and I know doesn't want to be hated like Lebron was when he left is now going to join LBJ in Miami where he won't get anything he wants.

This has been locked up for a month now he's going to Brooklyn but doesn't want to be traded there so they can build a team around him and D-Will.

no surprise.it's minimal effort for maxim result and media coverage by going there.seriously that generation of players are way too spoiled .its become "just hand me rings and all the praise in the world when i enter the league, i dont want to be bothered with trying to earn it"
