Doc Rivers literally shuddered to think that after losing Jeff Green for the season to an aortic aneurism and subsequent surgery, he may also lose Chris Wilcox to a heart-related issue.

The Celtics coach said prior to today’s game against the Lakers that Wilcox, who has apparently been undergoing monthly checkups on his heart for the last four or five years, has experienced some kind of aggravation in what had previously been considered a predisposed condition.

“He’s always had something, where he did it for the last four or five years in Detroit, where every month he had to have it checked,” said Rivers. “He never had a condition, but we all have things we’re a candidate for, but it was never a condition that was risky, and unfortunately now it may be.

Interesting quote about the coincidence this happens with Jeff Green and Chris Wilcox on the same team:

The chance of having one of these in a year is pretty minute. The chance of two is impossible. There’s a chance that may happen.

Get well soon Chris.

First Jeff Green, now Wilcox.

He's actually been great for us this year.

I'd really hate to have this be serious. I hope the tests are more precautionary but only time will tell. I wish him the best of luck. Ugh.

Get well Chris. More bad news for the celtics. Maybe we can have Rondo play center.

Forget basketball, this is much more serious. I'd take 5 ACL surgeries over one major heart problem.

Best of luck to Chris, and not forgetting Jeff

Poor Boston, I do think they should go ahead and blow up the roster. This isn't their year, might as well try to swing the big 3, maybe big 4, for talent and picks.

Super.

That's to bad, he was playing well this year. Got to give Ainge a little credit for picking up Bass, great pickup.

Isnt O'Neal out too? Better sign Sheed as ur back up center. The last thing Doc wants to do is play that white guy (or any white guy for that matter)

Very sad stuff. What are the odds that two guys go down with heart conditions.

Bigger picture, life > basketball. Hope he gets healthy

I'd much rather have Greg Stiemsma than Rasheed Wallace.

Yeh me too but Doc wouldnt. I don't know why but white players on the Celtics don't seem to crack his rotation much.
