If you were to pick ANY three players of all time to form the best "big three" in your opinion...from the beginning of pro basketball until now...what would yours be?

I really dislike the chemistry issues in all of these. I don't think MJ and MJ would work well together. What offense are you going to run with them?

Personally, I would run the Triangle Offense since it won, I dunno, 11 of the last 20 championships which it was around.

Therefore, in the Triangle, I would start with the greatest basketball player of all time, who won 6 championships in the triangle offense:

Michael Jordan

From there, I would need to get a great big man who excels specifically at passing the basketball. However, I also want someone who doesn't need a ton of shots in order to stay happy and in order to be dominant. I also want someone who can lock down the defense. Give me the greatest Power Forward of all time:

Tim Duncan

From there, you can go a number of directions which have worked in the triangle. You can either get another dominant big man, a la 2009-10 Lakers, or you can get a great complementary wing player who actually complements Michael's game, a la 90s Bulls.

This is tough for me, and it is hard to pick against guys like Dream and Bird, but I'm going to select a player who - in their prime - gives me one of the best inside-outside games in the history of basketball, filling both roles - low and wing - is a fantastic rebounder, a great team leader, and also one of the best defenders ever, which fits with the mold of the team I've been creating so far. Not only that, but this player gives me the ability to be versatile with my lineups, since Duncan can play the 4 and the 5 and this player can play the 3, 4, and 5 positions. I will take, imo, the second greatest Power Forward of all time:

Kevin Garnett

From there, I would simply round out my starting lineup with 3-point shooters at the 1 and 3 positions.

I like it, a lot. Very similar to mine. I'm not sure if Dream would be as comfortable giving up shots as Duncan. But I like this one a lot.

The Big Prime and The Big Legendaries.

I go with prime Magic-Jordan-Shaq all day, every day.

God, now that I think about it, if that CP3 deal didn't get vetoed, we would have had a poor man's version of that trio with CP3-Kobe-Bynum (or CP3-Kobe-Dwight) if we traded Drew for Dwight thereafter.

No way in hell Shaq and Michael could co-exist.

SF: A mop

PF: Tim Duncan

C: Hakeem Olajuwon

Arguably the three best two way players at each of their respective positions, and three of the best playoff performers at their respective positions. Neither big has to occupy the paint, but both could. Jordan's my ball handler; no point guard needed. Bring in a couple 3pt shooters/defensive specialists (me, the mop) and it's tough to imagine that squad losing.

Magic / Lebron / Wilt would be scary to go against though.

Jordan the starting point, add Tim Duncan and Hakeem Olajuwon and you have dominance. Did consider going for Jordan/Pippen/Olajuwon too.

Magic and Lebron playing together? Lebron is at his best with the ball in his hands, same goes for Magic, I think playing together would limit both of them...

I had MJ-LBJ-KAJ; Lebron could handle the ball all day, iso/postup MJ and KAJ all night and get some shooters to spread the floor just to top it off... Game over.
