View Full Version : Minus Your Big 3: Which Team has the Worst 4-12 Roster?

What I mean by '4-12 roster', is this:

-Take away the 3 best players on any team. Then look at who's left.

John Hollinger recenty noted that the Lakers have the worst 4-12 roster in the NBA. The Lakers have by far the worst bench in the NBA. Averaging 20.8ppg which is 14% less than the 29th ranked team (Clippers). The Lakers 2 other starters, Fisher and Artest are the lowest producing starters in the NBA when it comes to offense, and it's not very close. Artest + Fisher are averaging a combined 11 ppg with very poor shooting numbers.

That's my vote as well... my homer pick :(

Fisher
Blake
Metta
Barnes
Goudelock
McRoberts
Murphy
Walton
Morris

Pretty bad...

Who do you guys think has the worst 4-12 roster?

Hey, at least they have a Big 3!

But yeah, after Kobe, Drew and Pau (PERs range from 21-24) they have Barnes with a 14.1 PER and then McBob with a 10.2. Then a ton of guys in the 9s. That's not good, at all.

I mean, teams like Charlotte have no one above a 16 PER, but 10 guys in double digits.

It's hard to find a contender. Chicago doesn't have a player with a PER under 12.6...that's remarkable. They have 8 players with PERs north of 15.

But yeah, LA wins this...

Warriors. Big Team of the team are Lee, Monta and Curry.

Take them away, they have Udoh, Dorell ( irrelevant this year ), Rush, Nate Robinson, Klay Thompson, Andris Biedrins ( **** :pity: ) and Jeremy Tyler. Charles Jenkins.. Kwame doesn't count since he is out for the year.

That's very true, we're lucky to have those 3 guys. Even with Kobe's bonehead nights... I cannot blame Kobe, Pau or Drew for anything that happens this year.

I said this in the Laker forum, it's essentially Kobe, Pau and Drew vs. the NBA. Pretty pathetic how little anybody else contributes.

Oh and we're last in 3-point shooting and 2nd last in fast break points I believe lol... the "Slowtime" Lakers

That's not very good. Dorell has been a shell of himself this year. But I'll say this, Udoh, Klay, Nate, and Rush aren't too bad. I really like Klay and Brandon can guard just about anyone they ask him to.

But yeah, overall that's right there too.

If the lakers 4-12 guys were a team, they'd be a bubble team in the March Madness tourney.

True. There isn't much, at all. It's an awful supporting cast. Defensively they're pretty solid...offensively they're atrocious.

It would help if they had a single player that made the players around him better, though. And they don't have that, at least no this year...

Yeah, defensively they work their tails off, I'll give them credit there. But offensively like you mentioned, it's beyond bad.

Your right... we need a player that can get other guys easy shots. Fisher + Blake are averaging 1 fga at the rim per game this year ( that's both of them combined lol). Nobody can get dribble penetration, and realistically I don't know how many rosters Derek Fisher would be on in the NBA, let alone starting. Love the guy, but his time was done after the Finals in 2010.

He's been bad no doubt. But it doesn't help when Fisher is shooting 28.8%, Metta 24%, Barnes 27.6%, Steve Blake who's a career 39% shooter is shooting 32.6% this year, Jason Kapono who's a 3 point specialist is shooting 30.8%.

I can go on if you like lol

Yeah they're pretty bad too. But I will say, I think if you take the Nets top 3 players out (Dwill, Lopez, Brooks?) they still have:

-Humphries, Farmar, and Morrow. Those 3 are pretty decent players

ya fisher has sucked, barnes was never a good 3 pt shooter.
metta shouldn't be shooting 3s PERIOD
what im saying is when they see their best player chucking up 3s, they're going to settle for 3s too. Not saying its entirely Kobe's fault, but it definitely helps.

I get what your saying. Watching Laker games myself, I can honestly tell you that Ron is wide open with nobody within 10 feet of every 3 he takes lol. Fisher is often the same way, as is Barnes. Teams want them to shoot those shots, and I don't blame them. I'm really surprised more teams haven't tried playing zone against us... I understand we'd crush them on the offensive glass if that happened, but I'd take my chances with those guys shooting 3's, even if they're wide open.

PG: Bayless, Carter

SF: J. Johnson, Kleiza, Butler

PF: A. Johnson, E. Davis

C: Gray, Magloire, Alabi (Valenciunus)

Pretty sweet... Championship material...

Actually all-round production has been the only thing keeping us from losing every game by about 20. The problem is that our big three is more like a regular three so when inserted back into the lineup, every other team would get way better and we'd get marginally better.

Very true. Clips have the 2nd worst bench in the NBA I might add... Lakers are somehow still significantly worse... averaging almost 4ppg less than the Clips.

But your right. Mo and Butler are decent, everyone else is not that great.

The lakers 4th best player is matt barnes... 'nuff said. We're so bad luke walton is asking for play time.

There isn't a team in this league that could trade 4-12's with the lakers and get better.

Lol I was thinking the same thing. All these pieces that Morey has assembled to trade for an All-Star hanging out on the bench. Probably one of the better 4-12 in the league. Too bad that doesn't win championships, or hell even games recently

Big 3 = Calderon - Bargnani - Derozen

whats left?

Outside of their big 3, I'd have to say James Johnson is their best player... pretty sad IMO
